So far this week we’ve looked at Preterism and Historicism. Today will discuss Idealism.
Idealism interprets all the events in the book of Revelation as being allegorically (symbolically). Like Historicism, Idealism views much of prophecy as a battle between good and evil — the kingdom of God vs. Satan — form the first advent of Christ, until His second coming. Idealism stands alone from the other eschatological views because it considers all prophecy to be symbolic and non-literal. Idealism does believe in the second coming of Christ, so it that sense it does fit into orthodoxy.
