Sounds like Mike Rowe was right

$120,000 for a mechanic?

Downside: you have to be able to read, write and do basic math.  Which means so many schools out there are screwing the kids they're supposed to be teaching.*

*And no, being good a pronouns isn't worth shit.  In more ways than one.

You have kids in school? The teachers may well belong to the NEA, and this is what they're up to

now:
The nation's largest teachers' union plans to promote a version of Holocaust remembrance that does not mention Jews, according to its 2025 handbook, which references "victims of the Holocaust from different faiths" and teaches that Israel was founded through "forced, violent displacement and dispossession," its most recent guide for members shows.
Aren't they just wonderful people?

A moment from a day with something else planned to talk about a school

that put out this statement.  I think there's going to be hell to pay on this, and it's a good thing.

There seems to be an awful lot of people who're quite willing to do really stupid things that involve hating Jews, and there needs to be a price paid for it.  Especially when schools are involved(and I include colleges).

And they wonder why people raise hell at school boards, and want their kids out

of public schools....
MR. SCHOENFELD: So, correct. The leather that they're pointing to is a woman in a leather jacket, and one of the words is drag queen in this—

JUSTICE GORSUCH: And they’re supposed to look for those?

MR. SCHOENFELD: It is an option at the end of the book, correct.

JUSTICE GORSUCH: Yeah. Okay. And you've included these in the English language curriculum rather than the human sexuality curriculum to influence students, is that fair? That’s what the district court found. Do you agree with that?

MR. SCHOENFELD: I think, to the extent the district court found that it was to influence, it was to influence them towards civility, the natural consequence of being exposed to—

JUSTICE GORSUCH: Whatever, but to influence them.

MR. SCHOENFELD: In the manner that I just mentioned, yes.

To influence kids as young as 3...

Tell me again why we shouldn't take phones away from kids in class,

and get rid of that rot known as the Department of Education.
Most of our students are functionally illiterate. This is not a joke. By “functionally illiterate” I mean “unable to read and comprehend adult novels by people like Barbara Kingsolver, Colson Whitehead, and Richard Powers.” I picked those three authors because they are all recent Pulitzer Prize winners, an objective standard of “serious adult novel.” Furthermore, I’ve read them all and can testify that they are brilliant, captivating writers; we’re not talking about Finnegans Wake here. But at the same time they aren’t YA, romantasy, or Harry Potter either.

I’m not saying our students just prefer genre books or graphic novels or whatever. No, our average graduate literally could not read a serious adult novel cover-to-cover and understand what they read. They just couldn’t do it. They don’t have the desire to try, the vocabulary to grasp what they read,2 and most certainly not the attention span to finish. For them to sit down and try to read a book like The Overstory might as well be me attempting an Iron Man triathlon: much suffering with zero chance of success.

Students are not absolutely illiterate in the sense of being unable to sound out any words whatsoever. Reading bores them, though. They are impatient to get through whatever burden of reading they have to, and move their eyes over the words just to get it done. They’re like me clicking through a mandatory online HR training. Students get exam questions wrong simply because they didn't even take the time to read the question properly. Reading anything more than a menu is a chore and to be avoided.

College students, mind you.

Their writing skills are at the 8th-grade level. Spelling is atrocious, grammar is random, and the correct use of apostrophes is cause for celebration. Worse is the resistance to original thought. What I mean is the reflexive submission of the cheapest cliché as novel insight.
...
What’s changed?
The average student has seen college as basically transactional for as long as I’ve been doing this. They go through the motions and maybe learn something along the way, but it is all in service to the only conception of the good life they can imagine: a job with middle-class wages. I’ve mostly made my peace with that, do my best to give them a taste of the life of the mind, and celebrate the successes.

Things have changed. Ted Gioia describes modern students as checked-out, phone-addicted zombies. Troy Jollimore writes, “I once believed my students and I were in this together, engaged in a shared intellectual pursuit. That faith has been obliterated over the past few semesters.” Faculty have seen a stunning level of disconnection.

No, it's not all the phone.  It's also what 'education' has become in our schools, which has little care for actual education.  It's 'Everyone Gets A Trophy!', it's "We can't hold this student back just because he can't read!" and all the other crap.

It's letting kids they know aren't ready for college in, because 'equity' and because that keeps that money rolling in, and screw that the kids are going to drop out.  Or worse: they're letting students slide through college, including MEDICAL STUDENTS get through(if they're the right skin color/sex/whatever the current excuse is) not  knowing what they need to know.  And people have, and will, die because of it, and the idiots in charge don't care, not as long as they get their reputation of being Good Humans Who Care About The Right Things.  You know, like the bastards who let "We Suppport Decolonization And Trans And Gay And Getting Rid Of Jews" 'student' groups insult, belittle, threaten, and attack Jews and other students/staff who won't kiss their ass get away with it.

Oh yes, this pisses me off.  Partly because it's screwing lots of kids out of their possible future, from grade school on; partly because it makes it harder to find someone who can do a job; partly for the simple reason that if I wind up in a  hospital I want to know the staff isn't going to kill me because they're incompetent, hired because "We don't have enough 'X' employees and it'll cause problems if we don't get more."  And partly because it includes teachers who see their job as, as one put it  openly on his social media, "I only have a few months to train these kids to be Marxist revolutionaries", not dumb things like how to think, and reason, and learn some important facts and history.

And that's all the time I've got to yell about this right now.

Some people are really unhappy at the rise in home schooling;

some are probably actually worried about kids getting a decent education, the rest are worried they aren't getting the required .gov indoctrination.  And the fix is more .gov control.

Gee, I wonder if they might be connected?

In 2021:
To be fair, Bronson was replying to someone else’s asinine demand for a military coup against Presidentish Joe Biden, but when an active-duty Army sergeant appears in uniform to remind civilians that might makes right, it’s understandable that we civilians might get a little jumpy about it.

Current racist bullshit in military training:
SCOOP: Mandatory training for military members teaches that America was founded on racism, and parents are too ignorant and dumb to teach their children about it. They think parents need to stay out of their kids' education and shouldn't have a say in what they learn.

Only 'The State' knows what's best for your child and how to properly educate them.

And now:
The nation’s gun-buying binge remained robust last month amid the Biden administration’s latest plans to cut sales and intimidate customers.
Possible connections, hm...
Of course, you also have to throw in this Administration and Soros prosecutors(& Co.) wanting to throw violent criminals back on the street, over and over, in the name of 'justice', which just might make a lot of people decide "I need a gun."

Not another bleep-damned word about 'Only public schools with Professional Teachers

can properly educate children!'
A Bay Area Elementary School has spent $250,000 on a 'Woke Kindergarten' program only to see its student's literacy and numeracy rates plunge.

The 'Woke Kindergarten' program states its mission as an 'abolitionist early learning ecosystem' that trains teachers to uproot white supremacy, disrupt racism and oppression which are barriers to learning.

After spending the federal money on the program Glassbrook Elementary in Hayward saw numeracy among its 474 students fall to a new low of just 4 percent and literacy just 12 percent.

And now the 'WHAT?'
The scores, recorded last Spring two years into Woke Kindergarten's three-year contract, represent a 4 percentage decline in each category.
So the school's results were crap to start with, and they took the level lower.

And I'll bet the people in charge of this were well paid to screw these kids over.  And, in case you wondered,
'I am anti-Israel, I am pro-Palestine' Gross posted on the Woke Kindergarten Instagram account on Saturday.

'I believe Israel has no right to exist. I believe the United States has no right to exist' they explained.

So, one more racist, Jew-hating bunch taking over a school and damaging kids.  No surprise, in Gov. Hair Gel's Californicated.

"Teachers and administrators are trained experts, they know best

how to educate your kids!"
Milwaukee Public Schools allegedly issued a memo to staff instructing them to "decenter whiteness" in the classroom. The memo states that "whiteness is everywhere around us." The memo was published by Milwaukee Public Schools in July 2023 with the intention of creating "Best practices addressing discipline disproportionality through a positive educational community."
Translation: "Teach white kids to hate themselves and things will be better!"

Experts.  Top Men.

Some public schools aren't just staffed by DEI incompetents and socialists,

they're staffed with Jew-hating assholes.
A New York City public school is being accused of “Jewish erasure” after a map from one of its classrooms surfaced showing all the countries of the Middle East except Israel, which is labeled “Palestine.”

The Free Press was shown a photo of the map of the “Arab world,” hanging in the art classroom at PS 261, a public elementary school in Brooklyn. Rita Lahoud uses the classroom to give lessons to pre-K and elementary students in the “Arab Culture Arts” program, which is funded by Qatar Foundation International (QFI). QFI is the American wing of the Qatar Foundation, a nonprofit owned by the ruling family of the wealthy Arab state, which harbors leaders of the terrorist group Hamas.

Makes you wonder what's happening in San Francisco, when this is a Board of Supervisors meeting:
The anti-Israel and anti-Jewish dumbs mocked a Jewish man who told the crowd at the San Francisco Board of Supervisors meeting about how he lost five family members on October 7.

His family no longer feels safe in San Francisco, either.

If they felt safe in that place, they'd be idiots.

In some places it's even more urgent: get your kids the hell out of public schools.

The New Jersey Education Association (NJEA) is advocating for the demise of the Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators: Reading, Writing and Math. New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy’s signing of Bill S1553 would eliminate that requirement; NJEA called the test “an unnecessary barrier” hindering the alleviation of teacher shortages.

“When the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) adopted changes to the administrative code around teacher certification, it missed an opportunity to eliminate this requirement, which created an unnecessary barrier to entering the profession,” stated NJEA.

"We need more teachers, so let's get rid of those stupid requirements that they actually be able to teach!  Incompetents who's support the union, that's what we need!"

Saturday, November 18, 2023

Tell me you're a bunch of incompetent educators- and probably racist- without actually saying it

Currently, most students must pass Regents exams in English, math, science and social studies, he writes. Some retake the tests four or five times to earn a passing score, and critics say the requirement "may have led more low-income and Black students to drop out."

Betty Rosa, the state education commissioner, said the state wants to tackle graduation “through the lens of students” who have faced barriers in “access and opportunities.

In short, rather than try to improve students' mastery of reading, writing, math, science and social studies, educators want to make it easier for those who can't pass the exams to get a diploma.

Which also takes the pressure off of teachers to actually teach.  At least in places where they're actually allowed to teach, but don't bother.

And they wonder why homeschooling and other than public schools have gotten so big.

Monday, July 31, 2023

Looks like the socialists and racists want a permanent command of those kids,

and the parents and others need to have a mass firing.
State officials asked the CEO of the Philadelphia-based Center for Black Educator Development—Sharif El-Mekki—to help write the new standards. In a 69-page document, the group quotes fugitive cop killer Asatta Shakur, who was convicted of killing a New Jersey state trooper in 1973. The group bills Shakur — who escaped prison and was granted asylum by the Castro regime in 1979 — as a "civil rights activist." The document also talks about managing "the teacher-to-activist pipeline" so that teachers can encourage students to fight for "social justice."

"Many of the new teachers who come out of Pennsylvania's educator prep programs say that they are not prepared to teach anyone, but particularly not prepared to teach students from culturally diverse backgrounds," he said.

Etc.  The usual "We may not teach your kid to read, but we'll do a wonderful job of indoctrination!"

And if they're 'not prepared to teach anyone', why are you hiring them?

The only good thing about this crap is they're honest about it.

Today wound up involving a lot more driving than expected, and

and put me about six hours behind.  So I'm going to link a few things.

The American Library Association is apparently shooting for the title of Groomer Central.

Short version of something I read about two years or so ago, which fits this story:
"So I have a penis, I still identify as a female!  So if you won't have sex with me it means you're a transphobe, and I'll spread the word and ruin you!"
Which boils down to using blackmail to get away with rape.  Isn't that just effing wonderful?

“The women, up until the MeToo movement, always lost, always lost. Then MeToo was totally an overreach and got disgusting and weird and political. We started just emerging with scalps without any probing or facts, and it fell apart thanks to the Left, frankly, and what they did to [Brett] Kavanaugh and Time’s Up,” Kelly said.

The latter refers to the failed organization’s allegiance with accused abuser Gov. Andrew Cuomo and inability to defend alleged victims like Tara Reade. The former staffer of then-Sen. Joe Biden claims the Democrat sexually attacked her in 1993.

“We’re back to where we started … the progress has been eroded. The MeToo movement has been exploded and women really have nowhere to turn. You can leave the set in tears after being screamed at by [Lemon], who I bet has a long HR personnel file, and they just say, ‘re-educating training, bye.’ Not good enough.”

Yeah, when the accusations about Biden raping her came out, and his fondling of both women and underage girls was brought back up(with the left either ignoring that or making excuses), MeToo just kind of disappeared for some reason.

"Yes, your kid won this award, but

we didn't want them to think too much of their accomplishments so we didn't tell you.  Who cares if it would have helped their college application, EQUITY! is more important, it might have made some other kid feel bad."

These clowns need to be sued.  It might be the only thing that'll get their attention.

I wondered when this was going to happen,

and it's glorious.
So when hundreds of Muslim parents, upset at gay porn in the school libraries, showed up to a school board meeting in Dearborn, Mich., and it devolved into shouting and chaos with board members running away and gay protesters being chased to their cars, the fallout was absolutely hilarious. The headline in the Detroit Free Press after the event went haywire was “LGBTQ and Faith Communities Struggle for Unity.” BAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Can you imagine what the headline would have been if it were a Baptist church chasing gay protesters to their cars? “Fascist White Supremacist Book Burners Bash Gay Man in Parking Lot,” or “Rabid Religious Zealots Terrorize Gay Man Defending Right to Read,” or something equally terrible. I don’t know about you, but I’m enjoying this disaster.

I wonder if the Usual Suspects are going to call them 'domestic terrorists'?

Mike Rowe is a treasure

He told the Post-Gazette he is dumbfounded by the Biden administration’s decision to place the burden on the very people we should be rewarding for their choices and skills.

“For every five tradespeople that leave the field this year, two will replace them, and it has been that for nearly a decade — we are looking at a crisis in the skilled labor market unlike anything we’ve ever seen — it’s just math,” Rowe said.

“So, if you ask yourself, ‘Well, what does this decision do to encourage more people to get into the trades?’ The answer is: nothing. If you ask, ‘What does this decision do to get more of those 11 and a half million open jobs filled with people that have the proper training?’ The answer is: nothing. And if you ask yourself, ‘What does this decision do to encourage universities to charge even more money than they’re charging right now?’ The answer is: everything.”

When son started his career as a machinist, his first two jobs he was one of the youngest people in the shop.  Up in Washington Boeing and associated companies were halfway to panic because huge numbers of older machinists, lots of them masters, were going to be able to start retiring in the next couple of years, and there were not nearly enough new guys to replace them.

Place he's at now, he's in his late thirties and the youngest guy in the place.  These are real jobs with real futures that pay well.  You work at it and get better, very well.  Lots of other skilled trades begging for people.  But clowns like Biden and Faucahontas and others do nothing to encourage kids to go into them, EVERYTHING is "YOU MUST GO TO COLLEGE!"

Either they don't understand what they're doing, or they want to damage lots and lots of kids, and the country.

The actual racists, sooner or later, tell you who they are

School board members discussed the plan called “Transformative Education Professional Development & Grading” at a meeting on May 26, presented by Assistant Superintendent for Student Learning Laurie Fiorenza.

In an effort to equalize test scores among racial groups, OPRF will order its teachers to exclude from their grading assessments variables it says disproportionally hurt the grades of black students. They can no longer be docked for missing class, misbehaving in school or failing to turn in their assignments, according to the plan.

“Traditional grading practices perpetuate inequities and intensify the opportunity gap,” reads a slide in the PowerPoint deck outlining its rationale and goals.

Translation: "We cannot expect these Children of Colour to meet those old standards, and expecting them to is racist, so we'll adjust grading so they pass anyway."

No concern at all for the way they're screwing these kids, probably for the rest of their lives, oh no, just their "This will get the scores up so we don't look like such incompetents."

Racist assholes, every one.
