And, if you're like this man, you forgot

"You worked hard and saved,
With required taxes and penalties, of course. So say the leftists.
The proper response involves, verbally, telling them to go to hell.
The full response involves "Politicians and activists who try to take your retirement, home, and works need to be hanged from the nearest lamppost or tree. And there are lots of both in DC."

Meanwhile, outside of here,
Sen. Sanders(Commie-VT) says doesn't know where his birth certificate is, and doesn't know how to get a new one.
And from Occasional-Cortex: "If you think I don't understand international matters, it's YOUR FAULT!"
Oh, of course.

Tell me again why we shouldn't take phones away from kids in class,
Most of our students are functionally illiterate. This is not a joke. By “functionally illiterate” I mean “unable to read and comprehend adult novels by people like Barbara Kingsolver, Colson Whitehead, and Richard Powers.” I picked those three authors because they are all recent Pulitzer Prize winners, an objective standard of “serious adult novel.” Furthermore, I’ve read them all and can testify that they are brilliant, captivating writers; we’re not talking about Finnegans Wake here. But at the same time they aren’t YA, romantasy, or Harry Potter either.
I’m not saying our students just prefer genre books or graphic novels or whatever. No, our average graduate literally could not read a serious adult novel cover-to-cover and understand what they read. They just couldn’t do it. They don’t have the desire to try, the vocabulary to grasp what they read,2 and most certainly not the attention span to finish. For them to sit down and try to read a book like The Overstory might as well be me attempting an Iron Man triathlon: much suffering with zero chance of success.
Students are not absolutely illiterate in the sense of being unable to sound out any words whatsoever. Reading bores them, though. They are impatient to get through whatever burden of reading they have to, and move their eyes over the words just to get it done. They’re like me clicking through a mandatory online HR training. Students get exam questions wrong simply because they didn't even take the time to read the question properly. Reading anything more than a menu is a chore and to be avoided.
College students, mind you.
Their writing skills are at the 8th-grade level. Spelling is atrocious, grammar is random, and the correct use of apostrophes is cause for celebration. Worse is the resistance to original thought. What I mean is the reflexive submission of the cheapest cliché as novel insight.
...
What’s changed?
The average student has seen college as basically transactional for as long as I’ve been doing this. They go through the motions and maybe learn something along the way, but it is all in service to the only conception of the good life they can imagine: a job with middle-class wages. I’ve mostly made my peace with that, do my best to give them a taste of the life of the mind, and celebrate the successes.
Things have changed. Ted Gioia describes modern students as checked-out, phone-addicted zombies. Troy Jollimore writes, “I once believed my students and I were in this together, engaged in a shared intellectual pursuit. That faith has been obliterated over the past few semesters.” Faculty have seen a stunning level of disconnection.
No, it's not all the phone. It's also what 'education' has become in our schools, which has little care for actual education. It's 'Everyone Gets A Trophy!', it's "We can't hold this student back just because he can't read!" and all the other crap.
It's letting kids they know aren't ready for college in, because 'equity' and because that keeps that money rolling in, and screw that the kids are going to drop out. Or worse: they're letting students slide through college, including MEDICAL STUDENTS get through(if they're the right skin color/sex/whatever the current excuse is) not knowing what they need to know. And people have, and will, die because of it, and the idiots in charge don't care, not as long as they get their reputation of being Good Humans Who Care About The Right Things. You know, like the bastards who let "We Suppport Decolonization And Trans And Gay And Getting Rid Of Jews" 'student' groups insult, belittle, threaten, and attack Jews and other students/staff who won't kiss their ass get away with it.
Oh yes, this pisses me off. Partly because it's screwing lots of kids out of their possible future, from grade school on; partly because it makes it harder to find someone who can do a job; partly for the simple reason that if I wind up in a hospital I want to know the staff isn't going to kill me because they're incompetent, hired because "We don't have enough 'X' employees and it'll cause problems if we don't get more." And partly because it includes teachers who see their job as, as one put it openly on his social media, "I only have a few months to train these kids to be Marxist revolutionaries", not dumb things like how to think, and reason, and learn some important facts and history.
And that's all the time I've got to yell about this right now.

Some things before I go outside to take care of a couple of things
Yes, Biden is still a screaming asshole lying hoplophobe.
Being vaccinated against Covid sharply increased the risk heart attack patients would die or suffer heart failure after heart attacks, a major new peer-reviewed study in leading journal Vaccine shows. Alex Berenson has written about the study on his Substack, Unreported Truths.
Speaking of the NIH, more on how Fauci helps screw the world.
Oh, holy shit...
The owners of NoHo Diagnostic Center are suing the LAPD, the city of Los Angeles and multiple police officers, alleging they violated the business owners’ constitutional rights and demanding an unspecified amount in damages. Officers allegedly raided the diagnostic center, located in the Van Nuys neighborhood of Los Angeles, thinking it was a front for an illegal cannabis cultivation facility, pointing to higher-than-usual energy use and the “distinct odor” of cannabis plants, according to the lawsuit.
Officers raided the facility on Oct. 18, 2023, and detained the lone female employee while they searched the business, the lawsuit said. However, they didn’t find a single cannabis plant and only saw a typical medical facility with rooms used for conducting x-rays, ultrasounds, CT scans and MRIs, the owners said.
...
At one point, an officer walked into an MRI room, past a sign warning that metal was prohibited inside, with his rifle “dangling… in his right hand, with an unsecured strap,” the lawsuit said. The MRI machine’s magnetic force then allegedly sucked his rifle across the room, pinning it against the machine. MRI machines are tube-shaped scanners that use incredibly strong magnetic fields to create images of the brain, bones, joints and other internal organs.
An officer then allegedly pulled a sealed emergency release button that shut the MRI machine down, deactivating it, evaporating thousands of liters of helium gas and damaging the machine in the process. The officer then grabbed his rifle and left the room, leaving behind a magazine filled with bullets on the office floor, according to the lawsuit.
I am informed that, besides any damage done by the rifle impacting the machine, dumping the helium that way can cause very expensive and permanent damage. I'd hope at least some of it comes out of the pockets of these idiot Drug Warriors.
'Higher than usual energy use'...

Food production could fall by 25 per cent in England under the most ambitious plans to reduce carbon emissions, a Government study has concluded.
Experts at conservation body Natural England who looked at nine scenarios to change land use found that it was not possible to deliver a strong reduction in greenhouse gas emissions without reducing the food supply.
Their report said: 'At the UK scale, there is a strong trade-off between emissions reduction and food production.'
It added: 'Under the most ambitious climate change mitigation scenario, food production is expected to decline by up to 25 per cent.
How much would you bet that the 'elites' will still eat whatever they want? And plenty of it.

Conehead, as Second City Cop calls him, is really desperate to deflect blame
In recent years, Chicago’s leaders have blamed a wide range of external factors for the city’s infamous street violence. They’ve pointed fingers at Donald Trump, Indiana, Kim Foxx, and gun manufacturers, among others. On Monday, after 108 people were shot, 19 fatally, during the Independence Day weekend, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson became the first leader to blame Richard Milhous Nixon.
“We are standing here today talking about a violent weekend because of generations of disinvestment,” Johnson told a room full of reporters.
“Black death has been unfortunately accepted in this country for a very long time,” Johnson claimed. “We had a chance 60 years ago to get at the root causes and people mocked President [Lyndon] Johnson and we ended up with Richard Nixon.”
Oh yeah, couldn't possibly be leftist bail and catch & release policies, couldn't possibly be leftists destroying the schools in the name of 'equity', no, it's the Right!
And somehow 'disinvestment' doesn't count the God-only-knows-how-much of other people's money has been given the Chicago over the decades.
HeyJackass even has a Nixon t-shirt for the occasion.

Borrowing from a guy on the current French situation
All this, however, takes place in an environment in which the Brits seem most likely to be about to commit national hara-kiri themselves, by tossing out (on, ironically, July 4) their own Stupid Party (the not-so-Conservatives) and replacing them with the reliably-Communist Labour Party. But I digress.
Back to the French: the 1789 Revolution took place against a political and social order which was manifestly unjust and in many cases actually malevolent, wherein an unelected power elite (the Royalty and Church) ran the country at the expense of ordinary people.
And finally: after our Revolution, we didn’t hack off the heads of the deposed ruling class, but the Frogs sure as hell did.
So maybe Macron and his lizard people have a right to be fearful.

How do you know you're living in a 3rd-world craphole?
"Mayor Brandon Johnson will increase the scope of a pilot program that funds basic needs for victims of gun violence and their families, he announced Thursday as the latest update in his public safety plan ahead of the summer.
...
In touting his announcement, Johnson repeatedly decried his predecessors as “stingy” toward communities on the South and West sides that needed relief from disinvestment and violence the most. The fund in question was started in 2022 under former Mayor Lori Lightfoot and has since doled out aid to almost 400 victims."
https://www.chicagotribune.com/2024/06/20/chicago-to-expand-pilot-that-pays-1500-for-funerals-of-homicide-victims-1000-stipends-for-survivors/
This is a socialist asshole playing "See, I am being more generous to you, giving more money to bury your dead!" Whereas someone who actually gave a damn would be backing the cops going after the murderers- most gangbangers- and putting them in prison. But fat chance of that in Chicago. I'm really not sure why good cops still work in that place: the city government craps on them and kisses the criminals.

Yeah, indoctrination of the kids starts young,
Greta Thunberg famously quit school to campaign against climate change.
It was impossible to challenge a pig-tailed child, even if she demanded the world stop functioning.
Recall her tearful “how dare you!” in front of the UN Climate Action Summit in 2019?
It reverberated widely because of her age.
A grown-up making the same plea would be seen as unbalanced.
Yet the idea of Greta as a climate-warrior spokesperson was born when a grown-up activist saw how teen anti-gun crusaders, after the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas HS in Parkland, Fla., viciously attacked ideological foes with minimal pushback.
No one could argue with a traumatized teen — and that was the point.
The concept has only spread since.
Works on some adults, too. One day, on a friend's Fecesbook page where she'd been praising the kid, I said that they'd taken an autistic kid(fact), that she was being used for political purposes(fact and opinion), and that the bastards doing it were bastards. I was immediately hit with "Well, at least she's doing SOMETHING!", and accusations that 'You can't argue the facts of climate change so you're attacking the girl!" Etc. When I pointed out that said kid herself had said she's autistic, that just made me an even meaner right-winger and denier than I'd been before. And all this bullshit was from adults.

Ref the trans mess, it looks like Scotland wants to become- what,
The one excerpt I'll use:
When you're that troubled by people wanting to go through data, you're generally either up to something, or scared to death of what they'd find.
It's a really upsetting read.

A lot of leftists are returning to their roots
“Israel’s genocide has literally reversed the meaning of a swastika on a synagogue from a Nazi threat to a condemnation of genocide,” Harris, who also writes for The Nation and Wired, argued.
Harris claims that he viewed vandalizing a synagogue with a swastika as “an anti-zionist condemnation of Israeli genocide.” And if vandalizing synagogues with swastikas, the ultimate symbol of Nazi behavior is only “anti-Zionist”, not antisemitic, then there really is no difference between anti-Zionism and antisemitism, and between leftist anti-Zionists and Nazi antisemites.
David Austin Walsh, a postdoc at the Yale Program for the Study of Antisemitism, who has a book on the “far-right” coming out from Yale University Press, chimed in, “I’ll stipulate for the sake of argument that tagging a synagogue with a swastika has an ambiguous or multivariate meaning. How are we to determine which is the intended meaning?”
Marshall Steinbaum, an Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of Utah and a Senior Fellow at the Jain Family Institute, whined that, “I wish we lived in a world where spray-painting a swastika on a synagogue still meant Nazis”.
There's more at Insty. I can't get to the full article for some reason, maybe you can. Looks like a lot of leftists are accepting the national socialists as fellow socialists at last.
Might as well, a lot of them have hated Jews for a long time, might as well go all the way. The stupid bastards.

This is the kind of shithead 'teacher' your kids or grandkids are dealing with
"When I hear people calling for a complete ceasefire, I think, 'No, that's not quite right,'" Aby-Keirstead said. "Because we only want one side to stop fighting." The social studies teacher went on to chant, "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free," a rallying cry for the Jewish state's destruction.
Aby-Keirstead's support for Hamas's ongoing attacks against the Jewish state shows that American K-12 schools are not immune from the anti-Israel and anti-Semitic rhetoric exploding on college campuses following the terror group's Oct. 7 assault.
Gee, I wonder what socialist studies she's pushing on the kids?
Monday, October 23, 2023
Yes, some of the national socialists are winning, but they're
...“In sharp contrast to the Freedom Convoy demonstrations last year, many of these pro-Hamas rallies are occurring without so much as an official condemnation from local authorities. Notable exceptions to this came from Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow, who called a pro-Palestinian rally deplorable, and Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim, who denounced rallies that celebrate terrorism.”
We are in a sad world where newspapers have to praise people who state the obvious: terrorism is evil. Welcome to the 21st century.
We already knew what shitholes 'elite' universities have become, all this just made it more public.
The Financial Times reported, “as details of Hamas’s slaughter of more than a thousand Israelis filtered out — with officials calling it the deadliest day for Jews since the Holocaust — New York City’s chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America rallied in Times Square to celebrate the Palestinian resistance.
“Then some campus groups joined in. A statement endorsed by 34 student groups at Harvard University blamed Israel for the violence inflicted on its people. At California State University Long Beach one student group advertised a Protest for Palestine with a poster featuring a paraglider of the sort that Hamas gunmen used to attack Israelis — a motif that Black Lives Matter Chicago adopted.”
The ADL, once a proud defender of Jews from anti-Semites attack — now defends BLM and other lefty groups instead.
No, I don't really have time for this; yes, it pisses me off this much.

Chicago's socialist mayor has decided to take the 'screwed up' up another notch
A Canadian school decides to 'raise inclusivity' by getting rid of older books. Y'know, ones more likely to have unapproved thoughts and ideas in them.
The American Library Association is probably watching this with great interest and approval.
A transgender clinic in St. Louis will begrudgingly no longer prescribe gender hormones to minors thanks to a new state law that exposes doctors to lawsuits if they provide such treatments.
Take note of the other things involved:
Former case manager Jamie Reed came forward with allegations that the clinic had hastily put children with psychiatric issues on hormone treatments, and alleged that the clinic did not make sure people were aware of the side effects.
The New York Times reported that emergency staff at the hospital started seeing a spike in trans-identifying children at the same time that were showing up every day in a psychiatric crisis.
Reed's been in the news before, starting when the blew the lid off this. Here's the original article.
Telling the truth, when it's about the Wuhan vaccine, is considered a punishable crime by too many idiots.

Occasional-Cortex is playing "There is no inflation, it's propaganda from the capitolists!"
“Is AOC crazy?” Law said. “Has she been to a grocery store recently? $1,000 ain’t nothing no more. $100 ain’t nothing no more. Maybe she should spend some time in the projects and really help people.”
and
“And for her to act as if inflation being something other than the government’s fault? Well since I don’t have someone to pay for my $30,000 dress for a gala like she did, it’s much easier for me to see the truth.”
seem to be typical responses.
Of course, spending time in the projects would involve facing those nasty commoners and pretending to care, and actually doing something would require giving up on socialism, and she'll never do that.

Looks like the socialists and racists want a permanent command of those kids,
State officials asked the CEO of the Philadelphia-based Center for Black Educator Development—Sharif El-Mekki—to help write the new standards. In a 69-page document, the group quotes fugitive cop killer Asatta Shakur, who was convicted of killing a New Jersey state trooper in 1973. The group bills Shakur — who escaped prison and was granted asylum by the Castro regime in 1979 — as a "civil rights activist." The document also talks about managing "the teacher-to-activist pipeline" so that teachers can encourage students to fight for "social justice."
"Many of the new teachers who come out of Pennsylvania's educator prep programs say that they are not prepared to teach anyone, but particularly not prepared to teach students from culturally diverse backgrounds," he said.
Etc. The usual "We may not teach your kid to read, but we'll do a wonderful job of indoctrination!"
And if they're 'not prepared to teach anyone', why are you hiring them?
The only good thing about this crap is they're honest about it.
