Radhrani’s birth is being celebrated today (31st August 2025) on Ashtami in the month of Bhadrapada as per Gregorian Calendar with immense joy and devotion. This day is commemorated as Radhashtami or Radha Ashatami. It takes place on the eighth day of the bright, or waxing, half of the lunar month. This day is celebrated after 15 days after Krishna Janam Ashtami.
Radha was born at Raval village – Barsana (Present UP) to the parents named: Vrishabhanu (Father) and Kirtika (Mother) having dynasty of Yadu Vamsha – Chandra Vamsha.

THE MANIFESTATION OF LOVE BETWEEN RADHA & KRISHNA AFTER RAAS LEELA AT NIDHIVAN
The sacred manifestation of eternal love between Radha & Shyam is revealed without an iota of doubt at a place called Ridhivan, in Vrindavan, where Raas Leeka or Divine Dance is said to be held between Krishna, Radha and other Gopis at night. All the Tulsi trees take the form of Gopis and dance with Radha and Krishna. There is proof of divine dance or Raas Leela is revealed. A separate room, with fully decorated bed, besides clothes, betel leaves and a neem datum to clean the teeth are kept. All these items are displayed on the bed itself by the priests when they leave Nidhivan. This year, Ganesh Chaturthi, is being celebrated from 26th August 2025 (09: 24 AM, Tuesday) – 27th August 2025 (Wednesday) for ten days. This period has roots in Vedic customs and tradition.
SCRIPTURAL MENTION OF LORD GANESHA
It has been revealed in various scriptures that Lord Ganesha is revered by the deities and sages for ten days after his birth. During these ten days. The devotees remain pure in inner and outer form with observance of fasts, pray to the Lord Ganesha for abundant graces.
BIRTH OF LORD GANESHA
Lord Ganesha is the deity in a human form, elephant-headed which represents the power of the Supreme Being that removes obstacles. He was created out of the remains of smut from the body of Parvati when she was taking bath, after removing the outer smut from Her body, Goddess Parvati formed a human form from it and after seeing its beautiful form infused life into it. Subsequently she ordered in living form to guard outside so that nobody could enter the place where she was taking bath. Thereafter, he guarded the entrance with utter care and caution – whoever came to meet Goddess Parvati, he did not allow entry. Nobody could force-entry into the place where she was taking bath. Then came the turn of Lord Shiva to enter the guarded place at the gate. When asked who he was, he replied that he was the progeny of Goddess Parvati. Lord Shiva was surprised at his assertion. No persuasion or advice could deter the determined child. Thereupon ultimately, Lord Shiva had to use his Trident to cut his head to force entry. After this, there was commotion – after this Maa Parvati came to know about the beheading of her son who was created by her and ordered to guard her. She came out from the bathing place and showcased her anguish on all the deities present including Lord Shiva. She gave Lord Shiva an ultimatum either to infuse life into the body of her child or face consequences. Lord Shiva ordered one of his deities to bring the head of a living being. A head of an elephant was brought which was insulated into the body. Thus the creation of the body as an Elephant-Headed Ganesha.
LORD GANESHA IS REVERED AS A GOD WHO BESTOWED GRACES OF WISDOM & INTELLIGENCE
He is worshipped with great devotion, before starting any prayer or starting any business or new job or occupation. Even the admission of the children in any school etc, His name is considered auspicious. He is the Lord for removing our obstacles from our path (Vegan Karta) and His name taken whenever we start new venture. All Yagna or religious rituals start after sincere prayers to Lord Ganesha to bestow His bountiful graces. He is considered to be the remover of obstacles (Vegan Harta), Lord of beginning besides no Yagna or any ritual is incomplete without beginning with prayers to Lord Ganesha.
SIGNIFICANCE OF LORD GANESHA
He is lord with unlimited intelligence that is why Maharishi Vedvyasa chose Him to pen down Mahabharata while he was dictating non-stop.
Lord Ganesha is revered for bestowing us enlightening ourselves with knowledge, grace and intelligence besides wisdom.
When we offer sincere prayers to the Lord, he helps us remove our obstacles from the path of our holistic growth and development.
He is worshipped while we initiate new venture or seek admission of our offsprings.
When we initiate any business venture, we pray for his graces for mission accomplishment.
He is worshipped by the multitudes for seeking His bountiful graces. No prayer is complete without inviting Him to grace the event.
His name has been mentioned in Puranic scriptures and Vedic scriptures. Doubtlessly, prayer to Him bestows the devotees utter satiety and grace.
The birthday of Sri Krishna is celebrated every year. As per the astrological calculations and scriptural details, the date of birth of Krishna – known as Janamashtami is 18 July 3228 BCE. Lord Krishna lived to 18th February 3102 BCE. He is the 8th Avtar of Lord Vishnu. This festival is celebrated on the 8th day of Krishna Paksha (dark night) between the months of August – September every year.
OUR MOST LOVELY BAAL GOPAL JI
It has been mentioned in Bhagwad Gita that when there is a prevalence of evil in its extreme manifestation wherein the commoners cannot perform their daily routines and the hermits cannot pray to the deities for ensuring their holistic growth thus attain Liberation (Moksha) – liberation from births and deaths, then, Lord Vishnu (The Deity responsible for evolution of the creation), the He takes incarnation. He had taken numerous incarnations but ten are the primary ones, known as Dashavatara while Krishana is eighth of ten incarnation and tenth would be Kalki. He was born in Dvapara Yoga (Era).
The following is the gist of need for creation of Krishna in Bhagwad Gita:-
When prevalence of evil is at its worst When irreligious & immoral rule the roost When there is no respect for others to live with freedom.
For upholding the principles of natural justice When voices of righteous souls are gagged with force.
When human rights and values are trampled woefully When ignorant people are rewarded only When wise people are ignored willfully When people are disgruntled woefully When people without moral conduct are respected unduly When egocentric tendencies are pampered fully When even blood relations are imprisoned by their own offspring unreasonably. When divinity and spirituality lose its sheen When saintly advices are not paid any heed When arrogance is allowed to fester When commoners are put to shame by their masters And forced to submit to their whims.
Thereby forced them not to pray Omnipotent and Omniscient When seers’ Yajna are defiled to much extent By throwing rubbish and filth on the fires so sacred.
When sages and opposition voices are muzzled arrogantly When even just-born kids are done to death mindlessly Because of fear of these children Growing and becoming a cause of their own death When general masses are uncared And left at the mercy of evil marauders Thence our Lord Vishnu descends from His Abode Vaikuntha And incarnates for destroying the evil from the world at large In order to deliver the pious and the righteous Thence He annihilates the evil in the form of Kansa which has made a residency As irreligious and unreasonable ones; wolves in the sheep’s clothing Thus re-establish the principles of morality and fair-play.
The most auspicious event happened at the stroke of midnight At Ashtami Tithi with Rohini Nakshtra that night Something quite mystic happened There appeared Lord Vishnu dressed in shining attire And carrying His weapons including Sudharshan Chakra In the imprisonment of evil King Kamsa On request from mother – Devaki & father – Vasudeva He turned Himself as a baby to be hidden from evil Kamsa This way, the birth of Krishna took place in Yadu dynasty Kamsa knew in his heart of hearts, really That nobody can undo the purpose of Lord Vishu incarnation Since the will of God always prevails on all occasions. Lo and behold, the violent and vigilant guards remained in deep sleep Oblivious what transpired in the guarded dungeon just nearby Whilst heavy downpour made the Yamuna fully swollen Vasudeva put the baby Krishna in a basket on his head With Sheshnag providing a shelter from rain Yamuna swelled still further on Wishing to touch the feet of the Supreme Lord Then Krishna offered His Divine Feet for Yamuna’s touch. After reaching Nandgaon Vasudeva exchanged the baby Krishna Brought back Yashoda’s daughter named Yogmaya He was back to his prison cell without being noticed by anyone. At Nandagaon, Krishna performed many of His Mystic plays of Leelas – unique ones Showed His mystical prowess at Mathura and finally at Dwaraka He mesmerized Gopis with His flute play– at the musical best Attracting even the cows herds in hoards.
Gayatri Mantra was initiated to the Krishna by Guru Gargamuni And Vedic arts and sciences by Guru Sandipanimuni At Mathura He killed many demons To ward off the demons threats Thus stopping threat looming large Of many a ferocious demons.
DUTIES OF LORD VISHNU AMONGST TRINITY (Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu & Lord Brahma)
IMPORTANCE OF INCARNATION OF LORD VISHNU AS KRISHNA
As per scriptural knowhow, whenever there is prevalence of evil, the Lord Vishnu incarnates to destroy the evil doers and establish the natural law with peace and tranquillity besides to establish the prevalence of Dharma and eliminate Adharama from the world.
The Lord Vishnu is responsible for evolution of the animate and inanimate creations. He incarnated as Krishna to eliminate demonic forces prevalent in the society at large thereby keeping the world free from the demonic forces from the world.
DEPICTION OF CHILDHOOD DAYS OF KRISHNa
During His childhood days And thereafter during his life time His role as destroyer of evil is well-known to everybody Mahabharta epic provides us the testimony.
He married many queens Rukimni being the most beautiful of them all Love of Radha & Krishna is etched in folklores Will ever remain in our memories till ages As the pious Love of Divines.
Lord Krishna acted as a Charioteer of Arjuna The greatest archer (dhanushdhari) of all times Was the role of His in the Kurukshtra war!
Where Lord Krishna displayed His stupendous Universal Form When Arjuna was in doubt to fight war Against kith and kin of his own Then the Supreme Lord delivered His famed Bhagavad Gita “The Song of God” Containing essence of Jnana All encompassing knowledge – Gyana.
In the war that ensued Evil doers met their doom Thus had the results of their wicked karmic deeds Proving that bad Karma leads to bad end And with them the wickedness that pervaded, Thus Kamsa met his death at the hands of Lord Krishna A victory of good over evil was ensured A lasting lesson for us mortals to follow indeed May Lord Krishna’s blessings be showered on all of us By gracing us with wisdom And spread the message of goodness for us mortals.
OUR DEAREST MAKHAN CHOR
THE BIRTH OF LORD KRISHNA IS LACED IN MYSTRY
After the marriage ceremonies, while Kamsa was taking his sister Devaki and brother-in-law Vasudeva in the cheriat, he felt very happy. There is a custom of brother accompanying the married sister to her in-laws home. The procession was passing merrily while Kamsa was driving the chariot. The atmosphere was surcharged with joyous/ecstasy.
As ill luck would have it, there was a prophecy from the sky: “Kamsa, you are such a fool! You are driving the chariot of your sister and your brother-in-law, but you do not know that the 8th child of your sister will kill you.“. Kamsa was dumbfounded and could not control his anger and therefore wanted to kill Devaki (the daughter of Devaka) but Vasudeva intervened and promised that they will give all their newborn children to Kamsa after their births and agreed to stay in his jail cell. They were thus imprisoned under the supervision of guards. Vasudeva also commented that Kamsa being a greatest warrior and should not kill his own sister. He also told Kamsa that we are dying every moment that passes and death is evitable for the one who is born. Thus he pacified Kamsa through his (Vasudeva’s) flattery.
Afterwards, Kamsa imprisoned his own father (Ugrasena) and declared himself as the King besides usurping the power of King Surasena (Vasudeva’s father). He expanded his power to other parts too through his prowess.
Subsequently, first six children of Devaki and Vasudeva were killed by King Kamsa sooner they were born after the news of their birth was conveyed to him. While Kamsa’s relatives and friends tried to dissuade him from doing so but he did not listen to anyone. Then there was a news of miscarriage of seventh child but actually seventh child was transferred to Rohini as Balarama – just secretly – a Mystical potency of God.
LOVELY LADDU GOPAL
Krishna belonged to the Yadu dynasty descending from Soma. He was the 8th son of Princess Devaki and Vasudeva (son of Surasena). Krishna was carried across the River Yamuna by Vasudeva after his birth in the confinement of Kamsa.
Krishna Janmashtami has been variously described as: Krishnashtami, Saatam Aatham, Gokulashtami, Ashtami Rohini, Shrikrishna Jayanti, Sri Jayanti, Krishna Janma, Gokulashtami, Sri Krishna Jayanti, etc.
Lord Krishna Himself has enunciated in Bhagwad Gita that whenever there is excessive evil/sin in the society; when there is prominence of repressive and regressive forces besides prevalence of irreligious practices, He appears on this planet to eliminate evil thus minimize the scourge of evil from the society besides protecting the pious and righteous people. His form may be different in different ages but He takes birth or incarnates and shows the right course to the people at large with His thoughts and actions.
CALL OUR GOD ANY – HARDLY MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE, DIFFERENCE RESULTS WHEN WE SURRENDER TO HIM COMPLETELY
It has rightly been said that God is Omnipotent and Omniscient besides He possesses innumerable names such as Rama-Krishna-Jehova-Buddha-Akalpurakh but truly speaking; He is the ONE in true sense of term- call Him by any name you want. He has personal and impersonal aspects. To exemplify this; a drop of water has the same chemical and physical properties as water from huge reservoir of water. One or many names hardly makes much difference.
Our body which we love the most is impermanent in true sense of term. Our soul and the Super Soul are ETERNAL ONES. Our Soul does not die with the death of the body which is the vehicle for the Soul. God incarnations and saints’ lives have been enumerated in different scriptures have made it amply clear about the significance of our God Enlightenment through their discourses and other mystic actions, remain inspiring us humans.
LORD VISHNU INCARNATES WHEN THERE IS A PREVALANCE OF EVIL
AN ATMOSPHERE OF PEACE ON THE BIRTH OF KRISHNA
When Krishna was born, there was an atmosphere of peace, auspicious stars were visible in the sky besides there were all positive signs. The demigods were very pleased and began to shower flowers. Then Lord Vishnu appeared before Devaki and she felt very elated. Vasudeva was also very happy after seeing the shine on the face of the newborn – such opulence and effulgence. The demigods had already informed them that Supreme Personality of Godhead would be born from the womb of Devaki. He was really convinced that the newborn was the Godhead Himself. Vasudeva began to offer prayers. He was of the firm belief that now Kamsa will get justice for his sinful acts. He thus prayed and requested Him to save them from the hands of Kamsa. Devaki requested Him to take the form of an ordinary child so that no harm is done to him.
MYSTERIES OF KRISHNA’S JOURNEY FROM MATHURA TO GOKULA
THE IMAGE OF VISHNU
A mystic thing happened, all the prison locks got opened, all the guards slept and there was a heavy rain. On the birth of eighth child, Lord Vishnu ordained that the child be taken to Gokula to Nanda and Yashoda. There upon, Vasudeva took infant Krishna with him, crossed the river Yamuna and reached Gokul. After leaving infant child at Gokula, he brought back Yashoda’s daughter named Yogmaya back to his prison cell. Due to the grace of Lord Vishnu, nothing went amiss. The birth of Krishna, and activities are all transcendental and one who understands it is spiritually rich person. His birth is according to His time and place besides the need of such an eventuality. Even the planetary systems were adjusted auspiciously at the time of Krishna’s birth.
Foster father Nanda Baba and mother Yashoda of Lord Krishna were very happy while they were celebrating the birth of their newborn son with great pump and show. There was an atmosphere of joy everywhere. Yashoda always thought Krishna as her dear son and not anything else – they all enjoyed the childhood pastimes of Krishna thereafter.
The news of the 8th child was given to Kamsa. While Kansa was about to kill Yogmaya, she vanished from his hands and thundered that his killer was in Gokula and warned about his looming death. Thereupon, Kamsa sent his various ferocious demons to kill Krishna who were all killed by Krishna.
KAMSA’S PERSECUTION RECKLESSNESS STARTS
RADHEY SHAM
Kamsa comes to know about the birth of 8th child and further information that he is taken to Gokula made him furious. He got exasperated and lamented; now the cruel death will not be far away he thought. Yet he wanted to do everything in order to eliminate the child.
IMPORTANCE OF CELEBRATION OF BIRTHDAYS
Significantly, the celebration of birthdays for everybody is a must since it reminds us not only our self-worth but also we realize the purpose of our lives. It also gives us realization how much our friends our relatives and other well-wishers love us. We reciprocate in the same measure the wishes and wellness showered on this day for us. Therefore, it is not only the birthdays of Messengers of God we should celebrate but also of ourselves, friends and relatives.
CELEBRATIN OF BIRTHDAY OF LORD KRISHNA BESTOWS US JOY & SATIETY
The demons kings were very harsh in their behavior towards their subjects. They inflicted all sorts of punishments on them including not allowing them to worship their deities and carrying out various rituals as enshrined in the scriptures. The demon kings wanted that people should obey them, pray them and remain slave to them. All this and more hardships made the world at large troubled spot. This necessitated and impelled deity of earth – Mother Earth (Bhumi) to go to the Lord Brahma in Brahmaloka with tears in her eyes to reduce the burden of evil doers and the heinous sins being perpetrated by the demons from the earth. Lord Bhrahma, Lord Shiva along with all Demi Gods accompanied Mother Earth for invoking Lord Vishnu to come to their succor. All prevailed upon Lord Vishnu to appear as the son of Vasudeva and all other Demi Gods to appear on the Mother Earth in different forms to assist Lord Vishnu in His new Avtar in one form or the other.
WHAT THE GENERAL PUBLIC DO ON THIS PIOUS DAY?
Devout keep fast on this day and remain awake till midnight at the time when Krishna was believed to have born. The image of Krishna as an infant is kept on the cradle or swing both at homes and temples and everyone wants to have a dharshan makes the swing to move. This is considered an auspicious thing. Devotees sing songs and make merry besides exchanging gifts and flowers. In temples satsang and puja is also held.
Janamashtmi is celebrated differently In different parts of India. In Maharashtra, Dehihandi is celebrated where buttermilk is kept in a pot and kept at a convenient height. Different parties try to break this earthen pot so as to win this contest. This event is undertaken to remember the event of stealing of buttermilk by Krishna in his childhood from Gopi’s homes. The participants in this event are called Govindas.
In Mathura (the birth place of Krishana), Gokul and Vrindavan the festival is celebrated with great fervor and enthusiasm. People gather in large number and offer their prayers to Him. Even in Dwarka in Gujarat where Krishna established his kingdom, people visit Dwarkadish temple. Bhagavata Purana, the part dealing with the pastimes of Krishna are recited besides offerings of betel, fruits, flowers etc done by the devotees.
Gokulashtami is celebrated with great fervor in South India too. In Tamil Nadu, the people decorate the floor with kolams (decorative pattern drawn with rice batter).
Besides Lord Krishna’s mysticism and Leelas are always enjoyed by the devotees.
• Lord Krishna dance upon the heads of the serpent Kaliya thereafter Kaliya realized his mistake.
• Protected the people from the heavy rains on the village Vrindavan by lifting Govardhan hill on his little finger.
• Raas Lila (Dance) with Gopis at Vrindavana to the tune of the flute.
It is very vividly in Bhaghwad Gita that those who know about the birth, His appearance and all activities of Lord Krishna become eligible to be transferred to spiritual world. JAI SHRI KRISHNA. For this to become reality we have to be Krishna Conscious.
REMOVAL OF DARKNESS BY ANNIHALATION OF DEMONS AND SPREAD OF LOVE & DARKNESS
Kamsa sent Putana Dhai, who was known for killing small children by her sinful methods, to kill child Krishna. Krishna killed her after suckling her breasts.
King Kamsa sent demons including Trnavarta with mystic powers. He was eliminated by Krishna without much difficulty.
• A demon named Bakasura attacked him and his cowherd friends. Krishna killed him.
• Serpent Aghasura was killed after playful acts of Krishna and his friends with him.
• Dhenukasura attacked Krishna and his gops. He killed the demon.
• Demon Pralambasura sent by King Kamsa was killed by Lord Krishna.
• Demon Kesi in the form of a horse was killed by Krishna.
OUR DEAREST BANSRI WALA KILLED DEMONIC KING KAMSA
While visiting Mathura on the invitation of his Kama Kamsa, Lord Krishna killed the wrestler named Canura by hurling him to the ground while wrestling and then he leapt to the place where Kamsa was siting on the chair witnessing the fight. Lord Krishna dragged the demoniac King Kamsa and threw him on the ground, struck him with His fists repeatedly and killed him. That was the end of Demon King Kamsa.
Bhagwad Gita discourse which Lord krishana had with Arjuna in the battlefield of Kurukshetra (A DHANUSHDHARI OF REPUTE) enlightens us with the following besides other things:
• You have the right to work but never to the fruit of the work. You should never engage in action for the sake of reward, nor should you long for inaction.
• Whatever happened, happened for the good, whatever is happening is happening for the good and whatever will happen will happen for the good. • Change is the law of universe, you can be millionaire in an instant or a pauper in an instant. • The soul is eternal – our body is only a vehicle.. • You came empty handed and will leave empty handed when you die. • Lust, anger and greed are the three the gates to self-destructive hell.
• Man is made by his belief, as he believes, so he becomes. • When meditation is mastered the mind is unwavering like the flame of a lamp in a windless place.
• Doubts are our enemies.
• We are kept from our goal not by obstacles, but by a clear path to lower goal.
• We are all one since all are God’s creations.
• Let go off attachment – our attachment to the worldly possessions is the cause of miseries.
• Give without expecting anything in return.
• Man is his own friend or enemy by his karmic deed or misdeed.
• Steadiness equipped with Yoga one controls the mind.
• A person can attain supreme state of freedom from the karma by self-control, and disregard for the material possessions.
• It is better to do one’s own duty better, even though it may be below our merits which we actually deserve.
• The five factors of our actions are: place of action, the doer, the sense organs, numerous efforts and the divine law which govern all other factors.
Conclusively, my sincerest prayer to Lord Krishna & Radhey is to spread peace and prosperity in this world which is divided by division based on religion, region, caste, affiliations with diverse culture, selfish motives and extreme ideology. As our prayers could be answered by him if our prayers are honest and sincere, therefore, i want peace between the waring nations since all creations are souls (Atma) closed related to Super Soul (Param Atma).
HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY : 15TH AUGUST 2025 (Actively assisted by my Grand Son: Master Amay Khajuria, student of 6th Student presently at Crescent Primary School, Eastleigh)
SPIRITUAL PERSPECTIVE OF FREEDOM
In essence, independence means having freedom of thinking and acting on the thoughts without let or hindrance. When we are bereft of freedom with no fundamental rights, such as no freedom of expression or have no freedom to move anywhere we want with free-will. It could be termed as freedom from control.
Independence means freedom from shackles or restraints, freedom from boundedness or finite or having restricted approach on our thoughts and karma or action thereto.
In Bhagavat Purana, it has been clearly mentioned as to what is the Vedic perspective or the spiritual perspective of freedom.
‘A person is free to think and act. One who is enriched with good qualities, and one who is unsatisfied in life is actually poor. A wretched person is one who cannot control his senses, whereas one who is not attached to sensual gratification is a real controller [or someone that is in control]. One who attaches himself to sense gratification is just the opposite. Such a person is a slave.’
FREEDOM FROM FOREIGN RULE
It is paramount that we never forget the supreme sacrifices made by our forefathers for the independence of our country. I offer my sincerest prayers to Almighty God that our country should have inclusive growth and development, of course, despite diversities in many respects. Freedom of thoughts and action thereto should be our way of life. This was nipped with iron hand before we got freedom from foreign rule.
Importantly, our Independence is not attained easily. Our fore-fathers had shed blood by giving supreme sacrifices, as a result of which we are living enjoying fruits of our freedom.
The present Government, after taking office in 2014, till present day has to its credit incredible growth story. Not that, we did not have growth and development before 2014. The growth engine, as on date, has been phenomenon though the journey was not as smooth as India is a diverse nation with prevailing differences based on religious, castes, culture, language and region. The governance has fundamentally based on wellbeing of our people, sustainability and prosperity for all, differences, as stated notwithstanding.
Although the growth and development has been continuous, GDP growth as projected by IMF for both 2026 and 2026 and 2026 would be 6.4% in comparison with the GDP growth globally projected as 3,1%. It means Indian growth story is rosy and should be appreciated as such, yet, there are some bottlenecks in the way of foreign trade (Imports and Exports) because of unresolved issues of tariff imposed by America on the goods and services for India. It is unfortunate that USA has imposed 25% of tariff already and further issued threat for imposition of 25% tariff for importing oil from Russia. This is despite the fact that countries like America, EU and others are importing goods from Russia besides China has been importing more oil from Russian than India? Penalising India, on the basis of this issue is not understood.
Then there is issue of importing farm produce from America for which our country has refused for allowing imports of farm products from America since we have to protect the interests of our own farming community. There is a news that a trade team from America is coming to India for further discussions but it has been iterated by our Hon’ble PM that there will not be any compromise on this issue i.e. what is produced by our farmers will not be imported to India.
Factually, the uncertainty of resolution of tariff imposition remains hanging like Damocles’ Sword , ld be resolved Now, as the tariff problems may or may not get resolved despite best efforts since there are some contentious issues like export of farm produce from America. Seemingly, it is evident that the final resolution will not result if the final decision reached is not suiting both the countries. Also, resolution reach ed should be on the basis of give and take and nothing should be enforced in any event. .
Two contentious issues are farm produce exports from USA. These exports may not be beneficial for forming communities of India. Then there is the issue of import of oil imports from Russia on which 25% tariff is said to be imposed. This is unreasonable since the countries of EU are also importing the liquified gas and other product from Soviet and surprisingly, the USA too is importing fertilizers and nuclear related materials…..from Russia, therefore, penalizing India is not understood!
In the interim, the following should be considered to offset the loss for goods and services which were to be exported to America:-
New markets of goods and services should be explored. Our Government has been endeavouring to seek and attract new markets for our goods and services on war
footings.
Perishable goods produced, awaiting exports, should be stored in warehouses to prevent them from getting spoiled after a period of time. Alternatively, discussions should be held to export these perishable goods to different countries too.
The exporters of goods and services should be given loans besides tax concessions along with GST exemption, should also be incentivized.
Digital exchange in Re and UPI should be encouraged and popularized after due discussions with countries with whom we have sound relationships.
The perishable goods should be allowed to be distributed for use in the country itself, if need be, on reduced prices so avoid their wastage due to fair, bear and tear.
Fillip or enhance indigenous defence productions should be made on war footings so that we become self-dependent besides exploring new markets for exporting such defence weaponry. As has been seen, so many countries have shown their willingness to import our defence eqpt for use against their adversaries. And after the Op Sindoor, has proved that our indigenous weaponry had shown their worth in real battle scenario. Further, more funds should be allocated for R&D to produce and test the utility.
The Latin American countries have shown their willingness for reaching anunderstanding for doing business with us. We should make concerted efforts in reaching agreements on imports and exports to these countries.
We should open large outlets of goods and services in Dubai and other central Asian countries for expansion of our trade.
Enhancement of skills through training on the use of modern technologies.
New techniques in It and the use of AI should be encouraged.
MY WISH LIST FOR INCLUSIVE GROWTH & DEVELOPMENT
LESSONS FROM OP SINDOOR
After Pahalgam carnage of 26 Hindu tourists, by the terrorists, who have been eliminated by our valiant forces. Op Sindoor has been launched to teach the adversaries that our Bharat does not tolerate insurgency or terrorism to settle scores. In this Operation, a lesson has gone home that if we are self-reliant in defence related equipment, we can win any battle. Our air defence indigenous equipment has proved their worth.
This has also showcased success of our armed forces jointmanship and valour besides we are proud of our defence scientists for producing defence related air defence systems which prevented and downed most of the drones and missiles which were fired inside our territory.
Our forces not only destroyed the terrorists camps/hide-outs inside Pakistan but also made their airfields dysfunction for any air attacks. It is a tribute to their training and marksmanship that they downed six of their aircraft and an AWAC aircraft which was being used as early warning system for their respective miliary stations. Our own weaponry has showcased that we are second to done. And that is the reasons why many countries have come forward for purchasing our air defence equipment. A warm salute both to our valiant armed personnel and also our scientists.
A special mention about our defence cooperation between India and Russia. The AD system such as S-400 provided them did wonders for the air defence of Indian territory.

One of the important promises of the present Government is to give women empowerment. The govt. has been making budgetary allocation for enhancing the empowerment of women. In India, Women s Reservation Bill also known as Nari Shaskti Vandan Adiiniyam has been passed to reserve one-third of the seats in the Lok Sabha and state legislative assemblies for women. While the Bill has been passed in both the houses of Parliament but it would take effect afterwards. . The Ministry of Women & Child Development has taken many steps to bridge the gap between men and women thus boosted women empowerment.
BETI BACHAO & BETI PADAO SLOGAN
It is undisputed fact that we should give importance to both males and females. The slogan of BETI BACHAO, BETI PADAO should be given more credence since if the females are financially independent they can take life challenges with equanimity. They should be adequately given education since it is not merely at the home of the parents but also after marriage they have to run the affairs of the family. An educated female can give education along with value system/traditional modes of behavior to their offspring since mother is the first teacher for any child. Along with education, due safety/protection should be accorded to them from the hooligans and law breakers.
Propelling Entrepreneurship: Make in India and Start-Up India
Make in India, was launched in 2014. It was one of the first initiatives to facilitate investment, foster innovation, build best-in-class infrastructure, and make India a hub for manufacturing, design, and innovation. Under this program, India has consistently received record FDI inflows and jumped several places in many global indices and rankings such as Global Innovation Index. Further budgetary allocations has been made for giving fillip to this project in all the Financial Years Budgets.
NO OUTSIDE INTERFERENCE IN OUR INTERNAL AFFAIRS
It is observed that outside agencies are sometimes interfering in our internal affairs thus retarding its growth and development, that is, by adversely affecting the Northward march of our market forces by unfounded adverse publicity; as has transpired recently. Sometimes our own unethical and selfish people become accomplicits in publicizing the nefarious acts of omission and commission. This is an anti-national act, such people should be identified and given exemplary punishment
RELATIONS WITH OUR NEIGHBOURS
It is a fact that we should have good neighbourly relations with our neighbors. But it should be kept in mind that these relations should not be based on single track mentality. The case in point is relation with all the countries surrounding our borders; LAC, LOC and border with Bangla Desh wherein there is ongoing internal strife, specially attacks on minorities including destruction of their places of worship. The relations with other countries too need our attention. Although Indian Government is vigilant on this aspect yet more needs to be done for keeping our borders safe.
INDIA HAS TO BE VIGILANT ABOUT Our TWO FRONTS: LOC AND LAC
It is undisputed fact that India has border concerns with two immediate neighbours. Both are doing everything to needle India though Indian armed forces are ever ready to meet the challenges of both the neighbours. China has sovereignty claims on the territories of its neighbours including India. It has amassed a massive force against us in Ladakh region and other vulnerable points. It is even constructing villages near the border. It is a matter of immense concern. Although we have improved our road connectivity yet more needs to be done since our previous Govt. had not taken care to construct the needful infrastructure. We have to be ready for any eventuality on LOC and LAC as both these countries remain hostile. The terrorists activities which are prevalent in Jammu region presently are really very unfortunate and calls for proactive action by our country. Although talks are presently on between India and China for cementing relationship yet suspicion remains.
INTERNAL PEACE & HARMONY
It is imperative that we keep harmony between diverse communities as a prime requisite in our country. Nothing should be said or done in order to disturb the peace and prosperity. The various inept utterances by some of the people mentioning that something disturbing will happen like the one which is happening in Bangala Desh! It is really unfortunate. Comparing our Bharat with small neighbours whose past history is very disturbing is really hard to imagine!
PLUGGING LEAKS OF EXAMINATIONS
The recent case of NEET paper leak is really very disturbing. It goes to showcase that our examination system has some loopholes which needs urgent and serious attention. It is not merely NEET leak but also other prominent examinations conducted by Education Ministry either under the aegis of Centre and State Governments. The urgent need is to make stringent laws and award exemplary punishment to the defaulters to avoid recurrence. Particular attention is needed for Examinations such as NEET, JEE and Examinations conducted by UPSC.
CORRUPTION FREE SOCIETY
In essence, growth is not possible without transparency and corruption free environment. A country where corruption and nepotism persist cannot have sustained growth and development. In such an environment, the job of ED, CBI and other law enforcement agencies is of paramount importance. The corrupts should be identified/pinpointed and dealt with and awarded exemplary punishment according to the laws of land.
CLIMATE CHANGE AND ITS ADVERSE AFFECTS
It has been observed that rapid climate change has impacted the eco-system to a maximum extent. The effects of rapid climatic change, especially rise in temperature due to carbon emissions and others factors has resulted in excessive rains in some regions and droughts at other places.
Heavy monsoon rains have resulted in deaths of humans and live stocks besides destruction of standing crops in many parts of India. Most of the rivers are flowing above danger marks thus inundating the areas in their vicinity. The states severely affected in the North are Bihar, U.P., Uttaranchal; North-Eastern states especially Assam, Maharashtra (Mumbai particularly). In the South, Karnataka and Kerala (where there are deaths and destruction due to landslide excessive rains). Immediate steps, on war footing, should be taken to safeguard the lives and properties everywhere. I want all the states adversely affected by current floods should be given succor in whatever necessary. It is of paramount important that proper drainage system is made for the rain water to flow and not stagnate in the roads, lanes and bye-lanes.
ECONOMIC GROWTH IN INDIA
I am obviously proud that when other prominent economies of the world are going southward in economic growth our Bharat is having a Northward trajectory. All the policies of the current Government are directing our economic growth through judicious exploitation of our manpower and internal resources to a level which has enabled its position as the 5th economy of the world. A more still needs to be done so that is becomes a five trillion economy soon and if this trend continues then a day is not far when country would be having a pride of a place; amongst the first three economies of the world. This cannot be attained through any magic band but with persistence in our self-effort and growth in industrial and agricultural development.
EXPLOITATION OF ENTREPRENEURIAL SYNERGY OF THE YOUTH
I am of the opinion that our Government should exploit or harness the energy of our youth by giving them training in different skills so that they become self reliant rather than live on the doles of the Government. The make in India initiative by the Government is one such significant step. The ease of doing business by removing the bottlenecks is also a step in right direction. It also boosts the manufacturing which leads to fillip to employment generation. The ease with which the Government is giving loans to the upcoming skilled work force should be exploited to the hilt.
INFRA GROWTH AND FILLIP TO OTHER BASIC REQUIIREENTS FOR A HEALTHY LIVING
The way infra growth push is being given by the present dispensation; the day is not far when all the parts of our country would have communication thus enabling our farmers and industrial goods to be transported from one place to another with ease. Along with rural electrification, provision of potable drinking water facilities has also been given priority along with construction of toilets in the rural areas, provision of houses to the homeless, health cover for taking care of those who cannot afford exorbitant hospital bills etc. are steps in the right direction.
AGRICULTURAL GROWTH PLAYS A SIGNIFICANT ROLE IN OUR GROWTH PUSH
For our economic growth, the place of farm produce plays a stellar role. In this, Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sanchi Yojana has given a much needed boost to productivity by providing them irrigation facilities such as new varieties of seeds and new techniques of farming. The farmers are also being trained in the use of available water resources judiciously for maximum production from the farms. But still more needs to be done since in not so distant future food scarcity world over would be more partly due to climatic related change in ecosystem resulting in excessive rains or drought or due to wars between Russia and Ukraine and Israel and regional countries which may flair up with more severity if Iran intervenes!
ALL ROUND DEVELOPMENT DUE TO ADEQUATE NUMBERS OF REFORMS
The reforms like Jan Dhan, use of Aadhar and Mobile have made a huge difference have made a huge difference in transfer of funds digitally both by the Government and the same is being undertaken by even the small shop owners for digitally pay money for goods and services. This has helped in nipping the leakage of funds. Then the implementation of indirect tax reform like GST with effect from 1st April 2016 has proven to be one of the best reforms. Since the launch of Swachh Bharat Mission along with construction of toilets have now become a movement to keep the surrounding neat and clean and also provide secure environment to the women-folks.
RESPECT FOR OTHERS’ FAITHS AND BELIEFS
India is a country with diverse culture, speak different languages, living in different regions, have different castes and creed, have different religions and following their faiths and beliefs. Indian Constitution gives equal rights to every citizen without discrimination. Here the legislatures and judiciary have their sphere of duties and responsibilities/accountability clearly assigned. While I want that my religious belief should not be curbed in any way, then, I also should let others follow and practice their beliefs without interference. The law enforcement agencies should make sincere efforts that those who transgress others freedom of expression or freedom to profess their beliefs are dealt with under the laws of land.
NEED OF STRONG OPPOSITION AND BECOME PART OF GROWTH OF THE COUNTRY AND NOT RAISE IMPEDIMENTS
There is an urgent need of a responsible opposition who besides opposing or raising their concerns when necessary but should also suggest measures on policy formulation as and when required. Their task should be to oppose on the bills or laws being enacted but give their opinions to improve the business to be transacted. The way both the houses of the parliament are disturbed by noisy scenes and sloganeering, it not only hampers the working of the parliament but also wastes the time and money spent in parliament as each minute wasted without transacting any business costs the exchequer rupees 2.5 Lacs. This should change. Need is to ensure accountability.
ABROGATION OF ARTICLE 370 IN J&K
After the abrogation of Article 370 and bifurcation of state into two UTs, it is in the fitness of things to usher in all round progress of all the three regions (Srinagar, Jammu and Ladakh) without any bias whatsoever. There has been record increase in tourists to the Valley.
FREEBEES CULTURE SHOULD BE DISCOURAGED
We are aware that some parties are promising freebees to the people in the form of free electricity, free water, free bus rides etc. if these freebees (Reveries) are distributed only to those who are living below poverty line then it is good for uplifting those who live at the lowest strata of society but giving these to those who have propensity to pay is not good for the economic health of the country.
I WANT MY INDIA TO BE SENSITIVE TO THE NEEDS OF FELLOWMEN
The insensitivity and callousness that we show towards road accident victims is really pathetic. Our heart should feel pain when anybody is in pain. In order to get respect, we should respect others since it is based on reciprocity.
CHANGE IN THE MINDSET BASED ON CASTE, CREED, AND COLOUR
In the past, Varnas or caste system was on the basis of professions which the people followed. Now everybody is free to follow his/her profession, therefore, there should not be any need to give more credence to narrow thinking based on caste, creed and other considerations. Recent happenings in some parts of India are blots on the society as a whole wherein the Dalits are beaten up mercilessly either by cow protection vigilantes or cold-shouldered even by the law enforcement agencies when approached by them for action. These incidences also echoed in the Parliament and all expressed their anguished on the sordid incidents.
TRADITIONAL MODES OF BEHAVIOR/VALUES SYSTEMS
It is a sad commentary that we are forgetting the traditional modes of behavior. The values which our forefathers attached to family and our cultural modes of behavior is being forgotten and in its place, narrow regional considerations are being given credence knowing fully well that these are neither beneficial to anybody in the society. I would like my countrymen to imbibe traditional values for which my Bharat is acclaimed since ages with the dictum, respect others if you want to get respect. It is never a one-sided affair. I want our offspring to imbibe the best value system.
SWACHCH BHARAT MISSION / ABHIYAN
Swachch Bharat Abhiyan launched by Prime Minister of India Shri Narinder Modi Ji at Rajghat on 2nd October 2014 has paid rich dividends and it has become a campaign to make the length and breadth of India neat and clean. Neat and clean India is healthy India and healthy India is free from diseases. I wish that this mission succeeds by the participation of all so as to ensure cleanliness all around.
HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT
Education of the masses is one of the important factors for the overall health of the country. Care ought to be exercised that students are taught the skills along with the general education so that they ‘earn while they learn’. Our youth should be trained in right skill so that they are able to earn while they learn, of couse in accordance with their capability. New Education Policy advocated by the Ministry of Education is in right direction; keeping in view the availability of rich in Human Resource in our country. We have to exploit this rich resource for our own benefit. This is also important to avoid brain drain which is presently happening. Our IITs and IIMs are churning out technocrats and management professionals of the highest calibre. Their talents should never go waste. Let our Government come forward in absorbing these talents for garnering benefits for our country.
RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT (R&D)
We are proud of our space scientist for their stellar efforts. DRDO should also endeavor to chip in so that we may not have to rely on foreign countries for meeting our defence needs. Wish that our R&D matches with best in the world so that we do not be dependent on others for our defence needs or any other crucial needs.
HEALTH CARE OF THE GENERAL MASSES
The Government should take care of the health and well-being of the people in general. The hospitals should have adequate stock of medicines besides doctors and other para-medical staff to provide medicare to our citizenry. The private hospitals too should be within the reach of the general public for seeking medical care. Medical insurance should also cater to the needs of the general-public. The Govt. has provided the facility of medical assistance to the senior citizens for free medical care too.
HONOURING THE NATIONAL HEROES
It should be our endeavour to respect the dependents of those who laid down their lives for the freedom of our country. Not only freedom fighters but those who lay down their lives to protect the hard earned freedom. We remember our heroes only when some unsavoury incident of terrorist happens but soon, thereafter we woefully forget their valour and supreme sacrifices.
UNQUESTIONABLE INTEGRITY
I would like all people with unquestionable integrity for upholding the unity and solidarity of India. This is the most essential asset for an individual. If it is in suspect then the very existence of ours is in doubt and a life with doubt is fraught with impediments.
RESPECT FOR EACH OTHER’s FAITHS AND BELIEFS
India has diverse cultural modes. Its different religions, castes, creeds, belief systems, languages etc. If we respect each others’ modes of behaviour, then there would be cohesion and brotherhood amongst our countrymen. When we are united, then no power can subjugate us. For this to happen in the real sense of terms, it is important that we respect each other rights.
SPIRITUALLY ORIENTATION LIFESTYLE
One of my fondest wishes is that India may become progressive but with spiritualistic outlook, where people are awakened morally, culturally, aesthetically, progressive and more compassionate. Also keeping all along in that progress – leaving none while following a life of morality and fair-play.
INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT TAKES PLACE
Due to one reason of the other, the industrial development of our country remains almost stagnant or is below par. This is due to lack of resources. A country whose markets are being exploited by foreigners remains industrial backward is really bad. People buy and use Chinese made goods at cheaper rates without any guarantee of their use. Can India not manufacture the same goods for their own people and exploit the gigantic market – benefiting the industry and the people both. The profit earned by the owners of the industry could then be pumped for more production and increasing their capacities.
AGRICULTURAL DEVELOPMENT IS ENSURED
If water management is properly done, then, the deficit created by the scarcity of rain could be bridged. This will also help prevent the flood which happen during monsoon seasons.
Owing to excessive carbon emission, temperature gets soared which results in wild-fires at many places and rains and cloud bursts at other places due to which there are flash floods in many states of the union in North India. There is a need to minimize carbon emission.
IT SECTOR TO BE GIVEN BOOST
IT Sector to be given the boost. India is potentially a soft power giant. But we have to exploit this resource to the hilt as is being done by other countries. Our IT experts are proving their mettle in other countries. We are thus losing our human resources and also the benefits which our country ought to have garnered. It should never be forgotten that other countries too are improving in the IT sector. It is a must that this Sector should be given more incentive so that it improves further and earns much needed Foreign Exchange for the country.
The above are some of our wish-list which every right-thinking Indian would like to have for the overall development of the Bharat of our dream.
CONCLUSION
We should never forget that our ancestors had got freedom for us with immense struggle. They gave their everything, some gave supreme sacrifice for getting freedom. Hence, it is paramount that we do everything for enhancing the image of country in the comity of nations.
The Op Sindoor has given us an important lesson that if we are self-reliant in all the sectors of economies including defence, then, we can defend our borders to the best of our ability and we need not be reliant on others when we are in dire need of defence related equipment. This Op or any other internal disturbances our forces have proved their mettle and showcased that they are second to none, therefore, a special mention for their valour.
We should always fight for our farming community since they are the ones who produce food items for internal u8se and for exports. Our present Government has fought for their rights to the best of their rightS by opposing tooth and nail export of agricultural products which may come in the way of farmers.
The Festival of Raksha Bandhan is to remind us that there is someone with biological connection or not blood-related but with a connect bestowed upon us from heaven with deep rooted brotherly – sisterly emotions.
Raksha Bandhan signifies the love and affection between brother and sister – an emotional link which solidifies the relationship between the two blood-related or otherwise
Lord Krishna In Bhagwad Gita has rightly opined that he is the Sustainer of every relationship. These relationships may be that of father, mother, son, daughter, brother, sister, spouse, uncle, aunt, grandparents including all other relationships connected biologically.
RAKSHA BANDHAN IS THE FESTIVAL OF LOVE AND AFFECTION
At the time of tying the knot of sacred thread parents, grand-parents and other members of the family ritualistically gather to shower their blessings on brother-sister at a spot where sister ties knot of Rakhi to her brother and pray for their well-being and prosperity. Tying of knot of a Rakhi is done in a ceremony by lighting an earthen wick or a candle in a shallow plate. Sister applies tilak or tikka on the forehead of her brother and then ties Rakhi. The purpose of lighting a wick is for sanctification of RAKSHA BANDHAN in presence of Fire God. Brother gives her gifts and promises to protect her whenever there is a need. Subsequently, the sister prays for the well-being and prosperity of her brother. Some sing religious songs in connection with Rakhi festival.
Most importantly, when brother-sister love is affirmed outside the biological relationship then it will enhance inter-faith cohesion and fellow feelings between different castes, religions etc. This practice persisted in the past and is prevalent now as well. Raksha Bandhan evokes feelling of love, respect, and a sense of protection engenders a feeling of togetherness between different religions.
SIGNIFICANCE OF AN ORDINARY TWINE
Raksha means giving umbrella of protection From the ill-starred events which happen with no anticipation on this day, sister prays to God for her brother’s well-being at all occasions.
Bandhan means close-bond in relation Herein we talk about brother & sister relationship Becomes Raksha Bandhan.
Amazingly, an ordinary twine becomes an instrument of unity Of bond between the two, with the grace of God Almighty ! Thus putting an lasting impression to reinforce the connection Between brother and sister with the tag of enduring love and affection.
Rich in cultural traditions despite some upheavals India with its varieties of festivals Keeps reminding concerned multitudes Of the importance of the festivals so very amazing Based sometimes by season’s changing Or celebrated owing to some religious connection Other times based purely on human emotions Whilst there is a need to remind us that we need to maintain relationship thus bestowing us opportune moments for celebration..
The RAKSHA BANDHAN is the festival, so charming Where sister ties the sacred thread around her brother’s wrist loveingly This festival is held in the Hindu month of Shravan/Sawan Witnessed by the auspicious full moon from the Heaven, so bright Profuse with love, so very pure and full of emotions + And awe-inspiring sentiment of brotherly affection A festival of deep bond of emotion Wherein a brother promises protection For his sister from any danger unforeseen An ultimate ‘bond of protection’ nonetheless unwritten Yet this thread is not an ordinary twine But solemn undertaking given.
Rakhi is not mere a knot between blood related brothers and sisters It could be a sacred knot between neighborus Including other society members To keep the fabric of society united and intact To ensure communal concord.
History is replete with quite a lot of instances Where Rajputs & Maratha queens sent Rankhis To the Mughal kings And won their support at the time most critical.
There is also a story of spouse of Alexander the Great Sending a Rakhi to King Porus Which King Porus accepted with immense gratitude The promise was so fulfilled By not harming her husband Such is the sacred Rakhi’s espoused bond..
Such is the power of this ordinary twine That even adversaries feel bound by its sacredness..
O Thee Omnipotent and Omniscient One Knot the world community with Thy Holy Thread So that all live in peace and concord.
RAKSHA BANDHAN
MEANING OF RAKSHA & BANDHNA
The word Raksha means an act of protection and Bandhan means a bond in relation. Taken together, it means, a relation which ensures/and bestows protection. Raksha Bandha, in other words is a bond between brother and sister for bestowing protection to the sister whenever contingency arises – a sacred pledge that (brother will fulfil the promise of protection come what may. In return, the sister prays to Almighty God for his brother’s prosperity and good health.
RAKHI IS THE BOND OF LOVE & CARE
We Indians, like many in other countries of world, are fortunate to have different festivals which we celebrate with religious fervor and devotion. Festivals may be different but there is a commonality of feelings which springs out during these festivals; indeed amazing. That is the beauty which binds us together with a common Thread of Love and Care for each other.
BROTHER/ SISTER RELATION IS A SENSITIVE RELATIONSHIP
The brother-sister relationship is really very sensitive one. When brother and sister are biologically connected then they grow up together under the same roof and the parents make them understand the importance of brother-sister relationship. As the sister, after she grows up, has to leave the home and hearth of her parents, Rakhi Thread becomes a link between brother and sister to remind each other that there exists somebody to care for him/her. It is, in other words, an emotional bond/link which brings forth the memories of the past days when both brother and sister had lived and brought up together. To say the least, I opine, sisterly love is next to the motherly love. A simple woven thread, self made or purchased from market with great reverence cements relationship even further between brother and sister.
RELATED BIOLOGICALLY OR OTHERWISE BROTHER/SISTER RELATIONSHIP IS SIGNIFICANT
Raksha Bandhan is a Hindu festival which highlights the importance of brother-sister relationship. Here, brother-sister may be related or biologically unrelated. In some parts of India it is simply called Rakhi festival or Rakhi Purnima (falling on full moon). Indian being a multi-cultural society, not only Hindus, it is celebrated by Sikhs, Jains etc. The sister ties a (Rakhi thread) sacred thread on the wrist of her brother and the brother in turn gives a solemn pledge or promise to the sister to come to her succor at any unforeseen eventualities. A promise which is formalized on RAKHI PURNIMA DAY. This festival falls on full moon day (Shravan Poornima) and that is why it is also called as Raksha Poornima.
May the One who creates, preserves and dissolves life protect us all at all times.
RAJPUT QUEENS SENT SACRED THREADS TO MUSLIM RULERS
Legend has it that Rajput queens used to send rakhi threads (a scared thread) to other neighbouring rulers in order to showcase their linkage or relationship and establish -+a bond and spread brotherly feeling amongst the neighbourhood and avoid bloodletting on small pretext or misunderstanding of any nature.
LORD GANESHA
There is a legend, Lord Ganesha had two sons named Shubh and Labh. While Ganesh’s sister came to tie a Rakhi around the wrist of Ganesh, his sons became disappointed. They wanted a sister too. Then Narda Muni came and persuaded Lord Ganesha for the same and thus created a daughter by the name of Santoshi Maa by the divine flame emerging from wives named Ridhi and Sidhi who tied Rakhi on the wrists of her brothers Shubh and Labh.
GODDESS LAKSHMI TIED RAKHI AT THE WRIST OF DEMON KING WALI
There is also a legend in Bhagavata Purana and Vishnu Purana that after Lord Vishnu won the three worlds from demon king Wali, he requested Lord Vishnu along with Maa Lakshmi to stay in his palace. This was not liked by Goddess Lakshmi. She had a plan. She tied a Rakhi around the wrist of King Bali and made him his brother. When asked for a gift she asked for the freedom of Lord VISHNU and freed from the promise to live at his palace. Demon king agreed.
BROTHERLY/SISTERLY RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN YAMA AND YAMUNA
There is also a legend of Yama (the lord of death) and Yamuna (river). Yama, due to pre-occupation could not visit her for 12 long years. She told Ganga for the same. Gangaji mentioned this to Lord Yama. He visited his sister thereafter. Yama was very happy to see his brother after a long time; prepared tasty food for him. On asking for a gift, she extracted a promise that he should visit her year after year. This too is connected with Rakshna Bandhan.
HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE OF RAKSHA BANDHAN
LORD KRISHNA CONSIDERED DRAUPATI AS HIS SISTER
In Mahabharta epic, it is said that Lord Krishan considered Draupti as his sister and bestowed her full protection when Kaurava princes tried to disrobe her after Pandavas had lost everything including Queen Draupti in the gambling match. At other times of adversity too, he provided her full protection.
Earliest examples of a Rakhi Bandhan prayer is found in VISHNU PURAN: a prayer that Yasoda sung while tying a sacred Rakhi lucky charm on Krishna’s wrist. May the Lord of all beings protect you.
OUR CLOSENESS WITH A PARTICULAR RELATION COUNTS MUCH
We become conscious about our relationship based on true attachment we possess with each others; considering that these are blood related relationships or biologically connected. However, it has been proved empirically that there are people from whom we get more satisfaction, get instant love and affection we can call them soul mates, not blood related! We can get brotherly or sisterly relationship without being biologically related. And the real brothers and sisters, in real life, could be blood thirsty which is travesty of fact.
BROTHER & SISTER RELATIONSHIP IS UNIQUE IN MANY WAYS THAN ONE
Brother and sister relationship is obviously very close. If one is in pain, the other one renders a helping hand: In Bible the relationship has been defined as: For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.
RAKSHA BANDHAN : THE ETERNAL POWER
Some of the salient features of RAKSHA BANDHAN are given below:
• Brother promises to protect her sister and come to her succor whenever called for besides giving a suitable gift for his sister as a token of love.
• The sister prays to God for the safety and prosperity of his brother.
• A sacred thread, in the form of Rakhi thread, cements a bond between brother and sister thus establishes goodwill and emotional bond between them two.
• Then there is a practice of sending Rakhi threads made by the school children to the soldiers guarding the borders who could not be with their sisters because of their emergent commitments. These soldiers will naturally feel elated and emotionally suffused by this sacred gesture.
• Self made Rakhi Threads along with the sweets and gifts are sent to the orphanages for tying to the ones who were not so fortunate to have their brother tying this sacred thread. This also brings smile on their faces.
• The Pandit’s self-make Rakhis and distribute amongst their disciples who put these on their writs with fervour. This too is considered as a SARED TWINE.
May true spirit of Raksha Bandhan prevails and creates affable brotherly feelings amongst the humanity in general so that there is no feeling of hostility amongst peoples around the globe.
Friendship could be between starts with self. If we are self-aware then we can be self-assured, self-realized and know fully well our own self before knowing others for cementing the bonds of friendship. Factually, before thinking about establishing friendship with others, we should introspect as to how best we know our own self since ‘Charity begins from home’.
WHAT IS A FRIENDSHIP?
In essence, a relationship of love and affection between different persons. Here caste, religion, language or region is not necessary. Friendship could be established with anybody. The person or a group of persons with whom we can share mutual emotions and to cementing the emotional bond including strong sense of belongingness in bereft of even a shred of doubt Not even a shred of selfish motive. This is to make ourselves balanced in our approach both in good and not so good days, that is, equanimity in all situations and conditions.
RELATIONSHIP IN THE FAMILY
In the family, the mother’s role in the family is paramount. She is the power centre of the family who plays a stellar role in shaping the destiny of his offspring. It is the mother who teaches the child his first lesson. Whatever value system is taught in the family in the initial stage of childhood by mother, remains with a person in all stages of life. It is historically proven that the upbringing methodology adopted by the mother in the early childhood stage onwards teaches the child to prove his/her worth in society at large. Needless to say that mother provides emotional strength to the family thus proves as a magnet whose writ is respected in the family in shaping the destinies of the children and establishing cordial relationship in the family. But all in the family should realise that this power centre is respected as such. Father too plays his important role in shaping the destiny of his progeny by providing financial support besides taking care of the security of the family..
Then good relationship between husband and wife is paramount for peace and harmony in the family. It is undisputed fact that there would be some differences between the two because of ways they had their different environments in which they were brought up in their respective families, but these could be overcome by some changes here and there by both. Here, one-upmanship will harm the smooth functioning in the family. If there is adjustment problems, these should be ironed out by discussion without washing linen in public, since persistent bickering and quarrels spoil the atmosphere in the family thus affecting the growth and development of the children. Both spouses should realise that it is their prime responsibility to create conductive and healthy atmosphere in the family, therefore, both should sort out differences between themselves on the basis of give and take. As the future of their children is paramount for both, hence their ego will not work rather adjustment without being judgmental on both sides works. Differences should be bridged by removing misgivings which may have crept on the basis of forget and forgive. Therefore, congenial atmosphere in the family is a must and for that enduring friendship between the spouses is a must. This should be fundamentally based on mutual respect for a lasting relationship.
FRIENDSHIP WITH OTHERS
In essence, then friendship could be with our own family with the motto: ‘Kutumbakum jivanam’ meaning ‘My life is my family’. Friendship could be with group(s) of people for enhancing our social outreach, besides, it could be with countries where distance of the countries concerned is not important. This could be for establishing commercial relationship and also purpose for sharing and caring in their difficulties caused due to internal and external emergencies of natural upheavals such as tsunami or earthquake based fundamentally on Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (As enunciated in Maha Upanishads’. For this sort of friendship, the prerequisites are mutual trust besides historical and geographical including traditional and cultural standpoints. Distrust is the enemy number one for breaking the bond of friendship. Here mutual respect and cooperation are the two twines which bind the friendly countries concerned together. Also, it should be kept in mind that the relationship between countries is fundamentally based on mutual respect along with respecting the sovereignty. No effort should be made to back-stabbing of any sort as has been going on in the present world of ours as has been happening in the present scenarios of distrust.
TRUST-DEFICIT IS ENEMY OF FRIENDSHIP
A friend is a person with whom we have strong bond, relationship, with whom you can share our secrets, we can share your good and not so good moments, a person with whom we have a feelingS of love and affection, a person we can trust for anything under the sun and such a person will not do anything to breach our trust. Belief and trust are the two pillars of strength for cementing friendships.
SOME SPIRITUAL THOUGHTS ABOUT FRIENDSHIP
In Bhagwad Gita, it has been mentioned that true friendship is rooted in spiritual growth, respect for each other, and a selfless desire to help each other, particularly, in spiritual growth.
Bible emphasises that a true friendship involves love, loyalty, encouragement and even correction when required.
A true friend advises his friend to follow righteous path and encourages him to be honest and sincere while pursuing mission accomplishment. If and when there is a need of any sound advice, he offers the same so that his friend follows right path at right time.
It has been emphasised in SHRI GURU GRAND SAHIB that friendship is portrayed as a spiritual and ethical growth and development, while associating with the virtuous and keep a healthy distance from persons with corrupt mindset.
It should be noted that distrust and disbelief are the two enemies of friendship. When these two negative aspects are present between friends then their friendship falls like a pack of cards.
PREREQUISITES OF LASTING FRIENDSHIP
Guidance and support
A true friend guides and provides needful support when there is a necessity in order to encourage him and helps solve his problem which is making his life miserable.
Respect for each other
Friendship is not a one-way traffic. It is based fundamentally for mutual respect for each other.
Friendship is adversely affected due to showcasing material possessions
