“We think this is an important tool to streamline early-stage project screening and bidding decisions… ensuring transparency of assumptions and consistency between technical design and financial modelling,” says Till von Petersdorff, Director Strategy & Bidding at Elbe1 | Renewable Energy Advisors. Elbe1 GmbH is collaborating with Youwind to support a master’s thesis focused on early-stage offshore wind screening within Strategy & Bidding activities. Using Youwind, the research explores how integrated digital modelling can bring greater structure and transparency to bid preparation, covering wind resource analysis, wake effects, layout scenarios, and indicative LCOE within a single environment. One that addresses the real complexity of turbine positioning and wake interactions.    In practice, this means: ✔️ A unique, industry-data-driven, and very fast approach to taking into account electrical transmission and support structures in the LCoE optimization. ✔️ More effective turbine positioning, helping reduce wake losses and improve overall layout efficiency. ✔️ Flexibility to optimize for different goals, whether that’s AEP, LCoE, or spacing constraints. ✔️ Fast iteration cycles, allowing meaningful layout improvements to be explored in minutes rather than hours. ✔️ Clear visibility on results, so users can understand how and why a layout improves. But what really matters is how it performs in real use 👇 💬 “For wake loss minimization, it’s been useful to quickly test whether a layout is already close to optimal or if there’s still easy improvement left. In a few cases, we’ve seen noticeable gains just by slightly redistributing turbines.”   💬 “The LCoE optimization is interesting because it doesn’t just push for maximum production.
