Rand Paul and Dana Loesch not fans of the "Big Beautiful Bill"

The tax cuts and no tax on tips are good, but the "Big Beautiful Bill" is not going nearly far enough in cutting. Dana Loesch noted this morning on her radio show that it is still funding Planned Parenthood and a bunch of Biden's Green Deal. Rand Paul notes that he cannot support a bill that expands government deficits by trillions of dollars each year. That is not sustainable. The debt ceiling cannot be expanded.  

As Rand Paul noted, if Congress gives a "recission" vote (which only requires a simple majority), Trump and DOGE have authority to undercut most of the legal challenges to DOGE.  

I get politics is of the possible. Still, we need to cut, not fund, discretionary spending. Certainly things like Planned Parenthood need to go (even if it just a small portion of this).  We have to get fiscal issues under control.  Update: Big Beautiful Bill passes in House

And all this Twitter hysteria and hypocrisy stemmed from that shooting in Jacksonville. A crazy person was permitted (in very strict gun control Maryland) to purchase a firearm and he went on to shoot fellow gamers at an event in Florida because they beat him playing Madden Football. We can discuss why this happened, but maybe the gun free zone and lack of security at the gaming event or the failure of Maryland to block this purchase was a bigger factor than Dana Loesch defending the Second Amendment.

What people refuse to accept is the insane and criminals don't care about gun laws. They will violate them.  Since banning all firearms is not going to be acceptable to a large portion of the public (and violates the 2nd Amendment)--maybe you should consider things that make people truly safer. Hint: Threatening Dana Loesch's kids with murder does not do that.

I do not mean to be insensitive about the Vegas shooting (like some people were about the victims).  What happened was horrible. But the left's rapid deployment against gun rights is not the answer. We don't even know the facts about that shooting (and there are a lot of unanswered questions). We know this though, over a hundred million Americans have firearms...and are totally responsible.

We have not heard the full story on this shooter.  He was obviously an evil individual who plotted his crime out in advance. What was his motivation? Why that target? What gun law could have stopped him (hint: it isn't gun control)? Eventually it should come out, but it is very strange.

I do not recall any self-righteous indignation when our Delta snipers Shugart and Gordon had their bodies dragged through Mogadishu. Neither do I recall media outrage and condemnation of our Blackwater security contractors being killed, their bodies burned, and hung from a bridge in Fallujah. 

“All these over-emotional pundits and armchair quarterbacks need to chill. Does anyone remember the two Soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division who were beheaded and gutted in Iraq? 

“The Marines were wrong. Congressman West is absolutely correct.  I thank Congressman West and these Marines for their service.  The 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marines (of which these Marines were part of) were fighting the Taliban in Helmand province.  As noted by NPR doing a story of the 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines fighting in the same region, there were high casualties in the fighting there.  Be thankful you did not have to face it.  


The video in question was taken months ago.  These are young men who were under incredible stress and in danger.  What they did was wrong, and no one is justifying that, but it is also completely forgivable.  They deserve our understanding and respect, not attacks.  Yes war is a brutal, but to suggest this is some sort of war crime, given what limited information of the circumstances is know at this time, is disgraceful.  At least allow the military to do its investigation.  


As noted by Dana Loesch who was attacked for her comments:

The disproportionate anger on the part of progressives is fueled by their dislike of our military. That what this proves. 

The left is attacking me so they can give the Obama administration a pass–unlike what they did with Bush and Abu Ghraib. Like it or not, I’ll stand up for our troops no matter which president is in charge.

Of course, some of these critics are too far left now for even their former friends...
