So much going on in this blog post today. I titled the post “Playing In The Band” as a tribute to the massive loss the Grateful Dead community felt this week with the passing of Bob Weir, who wrote the song. We will all be gathered at Hippiestock to celebrate his life though. Beachy’s good friend Jed Luckless is closing the show with a set at 2pm too, and she wouldn’t miss this for the world. CeeKay Ballyhoo, Owl Dragonash, Hippie Bowman and many others have worked hard to put on this event every year, and we need it more than ever.

OK clearly I’m an angel, you all already know this. I might have fallen, momentarily, but only under the weight of these incredible gifts, so many to talk about so I’ll get right to it. 😉
The order of things
We’ll start with the most obvious, the gifts I got at Midnight Order! Juli showed you some of the gifts HERE yesterday, and I’m a good follow upper 😉 I love this dark fantasy event, and Second Life Syndicate never fails us with gifts. I joined the free group and gathered up all these gifts and this is what I’ve got on:

A few things … I didn’t realize you couldn’t see my choker in this pose, but it’s a nice metal choker with a padlock on the front. The padlock explains the key in my mouth, right? 😉 The key also came with a locked choker, but the lace wasn’t the right vibe for this picture. Midnight Order is open until February 20th, so plenty of time to head over and shop. The booths are full of really creative stuff.
Next
I stopped over at Alpha, because of course I did, and I found 2 gifts in the Gabriel booth (not in the center, the one on the backside of the event center). I think both of these items were gifts before, but always worth mentioning in case you didn’t get them then! My pants, the Slim Pants in black were 1L in the Gabriel booth. The group gift for the Alpha event was this nailed crown, which is totally free. I didn’t need the Alpha group to pick up either of these when I went, score! Alpha is open until February 17th.

I don’t want to forget 2 other great additions to this outfit. First, my hairstyle, which I picked up at Modulus for only 50L for Fifty Linden Fridays. No guarantee how long this will stay out, but they do generally stay out through the weekend. Modulus has 2 different hairstyles on offer for this event this week, so go grab some demos and see if you like one or both.
Last, my tattoo, which is another group gift at [CAROL G]. So many benefits and gifts in this group if you use a lot of tattoos. The group is currently 200L to join and there’s an entire wall of tattoo gifts you can bring home.

Happy New Year (again!) Fabulous readers! I’m both early and late with this post. Most of us celebrate the new year on January 1st, in Japan it’s the 1st-3rd, and according to the Chinese NY, it begins this year on January 29th. Year of the Snake! The new year ushers out the old times, and sadly Japonica is having it’s very last Second Life run right now. This event has been around more than a decade, but won’t be returning to the grid once this round is over. If you want to appreciate the Japanese culture, please head over and check it out. Celebrate
I do, however, want to celebrate Japonica’s history in Second Life and the new year so I dressed the part. I fell in love with this kimono by RabbitHouse at Japonica. It is NOT free, but it is very gorgeous. Funny enough, a few hours after I made the decision to buy my kimono, the matching socks and shoes dropped into a notice from RabbitHouse as the January group gift! The RabbitHouse group is 100L to join, and the newest gifts are only available in the notices. Now, these shoes and socks came a few days ago, but a fix for them came in a notice on the 2nd, which means these should be available in notices until the 15th. These shoes and socks are a full fatpack, and as RabbitHouse does, almost every part is able to be changed via the hud. The textures on the shoe and the colors of the socks match the kimono for sale, so of course I wore the kimono for my picture. The shoes are rigged for:

We’ve been saved, because we didn’t even need to look for Halloween costumes this year! Cordewa has us both covered, as they have my costume and Sky’s costume completely free in their store. When you head in, if you walk to the right you’ll find the male side, and there’s a cauldron that contains the costume for men. No group is needed to pick it up, just buy it for 0L. I love when you finally figure out which freebies to pair together for a photo. Sometimes it takes me a while, but generally it works out in the end, especially once I found this purple color in the hud for my free dress 😉
I’m not sure how I find the stores or gifts that I do, sometimes it’s like throwing a dart onto a map 😉 Although I know I follow E.K. on FLICKR and the designs are beautiful, so I went to the store to look for gifts. There’s one gift, it’s a bit older (older sizes) but cute nonetheless, and free 😉 This is the GUL dress which is a great little graphite colored t-shirt dress with an optional mesh overlay in a fatpack of colors. I didn’t choose the right color for you to be able to see through the mesh overlay, but I did choose the right color to go with the other free item I’m showing you 😉 The dress comes in 3 sizes:

Life’s too short to have boring hair
Random free hair finds are the best finds. I was probably looking through stores who had booths at Neo-Japan, and came across this store called !129129. They have clothes and accessories mostly for men, a few for women, and there’s 3 lucky boards there. One wasn’t active when I went, the other one was and as soon as I landed it changed to a B. Lucky day! This adorable hair was what I won, and it comes in 3 sizes – also resizable, and with a color hud of different naturals and colors. Of course I couldn’t wait to use the purple, I love all the different tones in it! The picture in the package shows the hair on a female body, but I’m sure it can be worn by men too, and I think it’s a cool little avant-garde style for some photos you may want to take. No group was needed to win the lucky board, so this hairstyle was completely free to bring home. Now, I’ve been back to the store and won a man’s t-shirt, and there’s also a lucky board where you can win 20L. So, you never know what you’ll find here, but it’s generally worth a stop!
