Spirits In The Material World

 

I felt this free avatar was just too beautiful and ethereal to pass up blogging, so I’m bringing it to you today.  This is the Ondheim Spirit Avatar, and it’s a free gift on the region of Ondheim (sponsored by Belle Epoque and the Harshlands) at Fantasy Faire.

As I’ve mentioned, Fantasy Faire is the largest Relay For Life fundraiser in Second Life.  There’s so many beautiful regions, quests, hunts, gifts and shopping there, all to raise money for the American Cancer Society.  IRL, I used to be a team captain for a RFL team, it was so much fun, yet so exhausting, and so very worthy.  I lost one of my best friends to cancer five years ago, this event is very close to my heart for that reason.  Almost everyone I know has had their heart touched by cancer in some form, so I’m sending this post out to everyone who has suffered or watched a loved one suffer, or lost someone they love to cancer.

The Spirit Avatar is simple to use.  I saved an outfit in my mesh body and then took everything off.  I applied a full body alpha and the avatar itself.  It comes with a male and female avatar, and one shape.  You don’t have to use the shape, but I looked a lot more ethereal when I did.  There are some extras in the package too, the aura and the orbs.

Fabbies, have you done the Harshlands Hunt yet?  I know a few of us dove in the first day, but all the hunt objects weren’t out yet, so this is your reminder to go back because there are some wonderful things to be found.

Harshlands is celebrating 10 years on the grid with an awesome free hunt!  There are a lot of gifts from Harshlands, but there are also gifts from a lot of other designers across the grid.  Aline blogged the gift from Belle Epoque HERE and there are quite a few other stores participating too, so there are plenty of hunt items to get out there and find!

Put your glasses on!

Harshlands hunts are notoriously difficult, but if you click the poster when you land you’ll get a notecard full of hints to help you in your journey.  The hunt is completely free, and there’s no group join required to take part.  You’re looking for a little glowy orb, and the hints really do help!   I found this awesome complete outfit by Kai Design, and it just spoke to me! This is the Adah dancer outfit, and it comes with the top, pants, hoop earrings, wrist ornaments, ankle ornaments and even BOM henna tattoos for your feet! It comes in a load of sizes too:

Way Harsh

Harshlands is celebrating 10 years on the grid with a fun little hunt at their store.  Several designers are participating, hiding a free gift around the store in a glowing blue orb.  You’ll find a notecard with all the hints at the landing point for you when  you land.  I found the gift by Belle Epoque, and it got me all nostalgic for the days of a good old flannel shirt.  This hunt is running until February 29th, so plenty of time to search.

California Dreamin’

Well, we knew it would come to this – the dreaded shorts in the winter.  The bane of every warm weather state.  California Dreamin’, Florida Dreamin’ we are all dreaming for cooler temps, because we long to wear our jeans, boots and coats.  It happens here in Florida about 5 days in the winter, sigh.  It’s not even a good trade off for the heat and humidity the rest of the year. I know some of you who live in cold weather states think that’s silly of me to say, but really, spend a month here in August and you’ll see 😉   Alas at least Mug has me covered with these adorable Ho Ho Ho shorts, in the 12 Days of Mugmas advent!

Mug has an advent calendar for their group!  If you’re in the group, all the gifts are free and you can get any past gifts that you missed (oh I love that so).  All the gifts have been wonderfully Christmassy and holiday themed, which is my favorite thing in an advent calendar.  Since you can get past gifts, there’s still time to join the group and get everything!  The Mug group is 250L to join – but I spied a 300L gift card on the very last day, so it makes all these gifts essentially free? 😉   Today I’m wearing things from day 4 and 6 in the calendar, the Holiday Hoodie and the HoHoHo Jean Shorts!  Mug does their clothing a little differently in that the body size you wear is in the hud.  I can put on these shorts and flip the size to see if I can wear Maitreya 5.3 or Legacy with my Maitreya X, so you can play around for the best fit!  The sizes in her huds are:

I added this sweet little bow headband that I picked up at Harshlands, from Belle Epoque.  There’s a Christmas tree there with some free gifts under it, and no group is needed to pick them up, how generous.  Just pop over and click the boxes and take them all home!  This headband has a hud for the bow so you can match it to most of your holiday items.

Hey FabFree, this will be quick… I gotta focus here… this big guy is a biter.

So, I dived into the Fantasy Faire this year. I bought the Deluxe HUD for 350L, (grumbling the whole time) but am I glad I did! You get two lovely outfits by Silvan Moon in the HUD. One for ladies one for the guys, a super helpful and necessary teleport/Inventory HUD and a little bird helper. I recommend visiting the Fantasy Faire’s website to get all the lore and the rich stories that go along with this Quest. This is no simple Hunt.

So off I went on the Quest. My giant bitey friend here is the gift from the Khol Dracys SIM. It’s a ‘Skeletal Adult Dragon’ animesh statue. He has a ton of animations and is sure to impress. Just make sure you have room to rezz this big boy as he is 128 li. And worth every bit! You will need the Fantasy Faire “Language of the Birds” Quest HUD to get the dragon. If you don’t want the deluxe HUD with the outfits, the Basic HUD is also available for 250L. 

My dragon taming outfit is from a Gacha by AiSha I found along my path. The ‘Ice Fairy’ comes in a pure white, a silver and the ‘Black Ice’ I’m wearing. The wings are the Rare I was lucky enough to pull. Each play is only 50L so you’ll find it easy to play all you want.

Even in death, be it through darkness and hellfire or endless light we will find a way.

Don’t worry, I won’t spend this blog post waxing poetic about otherworldly romance, however I will tell you how Blue and I managed to create this beautifully macabre scene with these awesome skeletal avatars. E-Clipse Design and CatsClaw Designs both have matching his and hers skeleton avatars out as group gifts. Unable to pick which set we liked the best I chose to wear the female avatar from E-Clipse Design along with a free applier mask from Mister Razzor. Blue on the other hand chose the male skeleton avatar from CatsClaw Designs, and together I think we make a fantastically spooky pair.
