Felix Masi Photography

Felix Masi is an award winning Kenyan-born independent Multimedia photojournalist/filmmaker, founder of Voiceless Children, and former staff photojournalist with The Standard Group, in 2005 he quit his job as a newspaper photojournalist to focus on covering social issues, the same year he was selected to attend U.S. Department of State sponsored International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) with participants from around the world. Currently based in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, Masi works with international non-profits documenting humanitarian work and development, mainly in Africa. Most recently, Felix has worked in Kenya, South Africa, and Angola, though his work has taken him to Uganda, Ethiopia, The Democratic Republic of Congo, Burundi, Congo Brazaville and Tanzania, among others. Masi participated in the Save and Protect the Planet project produced in Portugal, Switzerland, and New York. He also worked on a 2010 World Cup project in South Africa with World Press Photo Foundation. He has produced an award winning short film called “Hands of Love” through support from Adobe Youth Voices and Listen Up! He covered a White House African Youth Summit participant for Interface Media Group (IMG), Masi’s commitment to the grandmothers and orphans in Kenya and the work he had already started documenting their lives was the gem for the award-winning film “A Grandmother’s Tribe,” for which he was the local production coordinator, advisor and photographer. Masi's series on daily life in Kinshasa dubbed "Made in Kinshasa" won him a World Bank award 2013 on small business in conflict zones and was among the winning series and named top 100 2014-2015 winners in the Other Hundred Entrepreneurship.
