Well, I haven’t exactly sold-out to the whole SLR bandwagon just yet. It’s still 35mm, and it was just that my friend was kind enough to lend me his SLR for a weekend or two. Later he finds out that he’s been accepted to grad school in Italy, so the camera will be staying with me for a long while. 🙂

000033-copyWell, I know these are simple shots, but give me some time to warm up to it. I have a general idea on how these things work, but that’s about it. :s

We’ve spent our long holidays here in Baguio City, and in two hours we’ll be taking the bus back to Manila. Maybe next time we can dare drive? But for the mean time, we’re savoring our last two hours on this wonderful couch.

Tomorrow, we fly off to Laoag to enjoy an Ilocos weekend – we plan to conquer Laoag, Pagudpud and Vigan all in 2 days. Needless to say, we’ll be hauling films and several cameras on this trip so that when we get back, we’ll have new photos to revel in. So no photo upload this weekend. 😦 But to keep you company, let me introduce you to Mr. Chicken.

You see, Mr. Chicken has always wanted to be photographed. (Un)fortunately he lives in Jan’s backyard in Baguio and the presence of neighborhood dogs hinders him from achieving his dream. After all, getting out of the compound is one thing, but finding a photographer?

Last Christmas, Jan went to town and saw these nifty red vignette things. (they look like filters, but with a hole in the middle) and thought that it might fit our digicam. Unfortunately for our digicam, the vignette tool wouldn’t fit, but luckily Jan’s uncle is crafty in these things and made Jan a lens/vignette tool holder so he can use his new toy on the Holga. But most fortunate of all is Mr. Chicken:

In Baguio, it’s pretty hard to get nice lighting due to unpredictable fogging. During this trip, in addition to that, clouds were overcast – so when the sun peeked, I just kept on shooting. I love how this batch turned out!

[Vivitar UW&S] The BW Experiment by filmfish

I mentioned a few days back that we were trying on some new film. Here are some portraits from my first BW roll (ever) used on the Vivitar UW&S.THe Vivitar Ultra Wide and Slim they say produces photos similar to Lomo’s LCA, but I wouldn’t know cause we don’t have one. But basically it’s just point and shoot.

This experiment used Kodak BW CN400 which is a C41 processed film, so no more waiting for 2 weeks til the developers finish.

at Camp John Hay, Baguio City

And this is Ayisse.

I’m so impressed with myself, if I may say so XD Please check back again soon, as I will be uploading more from this batch. My hot bath awaits! Please tell us about your experiences too! SO many cameras, so many films, ahh so little time.
