Abandoned

Abandoned was Hardcore/Punk/Metal band from Los Angeles, California, United States. Abandoned started when original members Reid Campbell (AKA Angus MacMannus, lead bass, ex Modern Industry), Mark Banks (drums, ex YNA) and Jimi Huge (ex Modern Industry, Flower Leperds) were looking for a singer after being evicted from the Dog House in Hacienda Heights (Happy Homes, ese), CA. At the time the band was called The Vicious Dogs and also included Brett Multz (future Motorpsycho of Hollywood Records fame) and a cat called Mark Marshall on vocals. They asked Tony Montana (AKA Adolescent, Cadena, Reflex, etc.) to sing/write lyrics for them and he agreed (and provided the name). They practiced/drank beer in Tony's aunt's basement in Glendora, Reid's garage room in West Covina and Andrew Dunn's downtown 4th Street warehouse. Abandoned played just a few shows including ones with Suicidal Tendencies, Circle Jerks, DRI, Mentors, Beowulf, Agression, Fear, and Dr. Know and also played the closing night of the Cathay de Grande (Hollywood). Their album "Killed By Faith" was recorded at Casbah Studios, Fullerton CA (by Chaz Ramirez RIP) and released in 1985 on Savage Beat records, home of The Pig Children and HVY DRT. The band broke up soon after a particularly chaotic sold out show at the Pomona Valley Auditorium. The final handful of shows after that included Mark Duda on drums and Dave Krocker (future Motorpsycho) on additional guitar. Jimi Huge ditched the suckers and moved to San Diego after which it all fell apart (although Tony tried to keep it together, to his credit). "Killed By Faith" was voted number 5 import album in European metal bible Kerrang! magazine sometime in 1985 (just below Great White, woo hoo) and was available for sale all over USA/England/Germany. In 1996 an Abandoned compilation, called "Los Angeles, Motherfuckers!!!", was released including the album "Killed By Faith" and lots of poorly recorded songs by other versions of the band.
