European Society of Cardiology

EuroHeart is a European Society of Cardiology initiative that partners with national registries and cardiac societies across Europe. By continually monitoring the quality of cardiovascular care at both national and local levels, these registries serve as essential tools for driving meaningful improvements in patient outcomes. The latest annual report from EuroHeart highlighted the need for a more systematic approach to address critical care gaps, including:   - Higher rates of current smoking among younger patients - Greater prevalence of hypertension in women - Significant cross-country variations in oral antidiabetic medication prescribing patterns   As EuroHeart transitions to its next phase, the valuable data and insights gathered will continue to inform cardiovascular care. People exposed to wildfire smoke have a higher risk of suffering a stroke, according to research published in the European Heart Journal today.   The researchers estimate that in the US alone, smoke from #wildfires may be responsible for around 17,000 strokes each year.   The researcher lead, Professor Yang Liu commented: “Wildfires are becoming a major contributor to ambient air pollution.
