Cardiologist follow-up and improved outcomes of heart failure: a French nationwide cohort
European heart journal
The study included 655 919 patients. Despite having a HF diagnosis, 40% of patients do not see a cardiologist annually, regardless of disease severity. Simple stratification based on hospitalization history and diuretic use effectively predicts outcomes. Tailoring the annual number of HF consultations according to this stratification could optimize resource use and reduce avoidable modelled deaths.

The ACS EuroPath survey series: Time trends in lipid management after an acute coronary syndrome
European journal of preventive cardiology
Voir la publicationThis survey examined cardiologists’ practice in lipid management in the acute and follow-up phases, comparing 2024 with 2022 and 2018, the year prior to the publication of the 2019 EAS/ESC lipid guidelines. A subgroup of cardiologists received training on the implementation of the guidelines to compare their performance with that of the main group. Compared to previous years, improvements were observed in the assessment of lipids, the use of therapies with at least two lipid-lowering agents and…

A subgroup of cardiologists received training on the implementation of the guidelines to compare their performance with that of the main group. Compared to previous years, improvements were observed in the assessment of lipids, the use of therapies with at least two lipid-lowering agents and the achievement of the LDL-C goal of <55 mg/dLTraining further improved the performance of cardiologists, emphasising the need of education to implement the guideline recommendations.

Sex-based differences in heart failure management and outcomes: Insights from the French-DataHF cohort
European journal of heart failure
While females had a better-adjusted prognosis, disparities in guideline-directed medical therapy utilization and cardiology follow-up nonetheless persist. Enhancing access to specialized care for women with HF could further optimize outcomes and reduce mortality.

Collaboration between a private practice IPA and a cardiologist in the treatment of heart failure
Soins
Faced with the current health challenges associated with heart failure care in France, the use of advanced practice nurses (APNs) represents an interesting response, particularly in the hospital environment. The Outil'IC toolbox, designed to help set up a collaboration between a private practice nurse and a cardiologist, won an award in the 2023-2024 edition of the Outil'IC awards. It draws on the experience of a cardiology practice in Nîmes, France, to offer advice on setting up a practice, as…
