I’m a little late to this party, but I was so inspired by Reana Louise and her “Check the Technique” quest (posted about on her old blog) that I had to challenge myself, too! So here’s a list of skills I’d like to pick up in the near future:
- lapped zipper
bound buttonholes(McCall’s 5995)making my own bias tape(Watch This Lace Sorbetto Top)regular buttonholes(McCall’s M6016)lining(Simplicity 2209)underlining(Tiny Pocket Tank)- boning
sewing with knits(Renfrew top)- matching
stripes/plaids (striped Renfrew top) waist stays(McCall’s 5995)- working with sheer fabrics
- flat-felled seams
set-in sleeves(Colette Peony)
- making a fabric-covered belt
- pattern drafting
pockets(Simplicity 2444)- covering buttons
making a garment with fabric cut on the bias(Reglisse dress)

Ginger,
I found your blog on google looking for a peony collette sew along. But all in all I am glad I happened upon your blog! You are doing great things. Keep up the good work.
happy blogging and sewing,

Thanks, dood! I love your name btw!
I like the idea of your technique checklist. I might have to copy that, too.
It’s really helped me to keep track of what I want to work on! I totally recommend it!
Love this! I have a similar list tacked to my wall above my sewing machine. That reminds me, I haven’t checked a new technique off in a while…
