Sponsor a Rider at Boots to Grasses Therapeutic Horsemanship Program
Do you want to help a very special individual gain confidence, make physical strides, nurture mental health, and find joy in our equine therapy program? Sponsor a student at Boots to Grasses Therapeutic Horsemanship Program!
We are so fortunate work with students of different backgrounds, challenges, and ability levels. Unfortunately, therapeutic horsemanship is not covered under health insurance or Medicaid - and many individuals cannot afford to participate. We strive to keep our session fees as low as possible. However, the overhead of running our program - feed, veterinary care, insurance, equipment (to name a few) - precludes us from offering free sessions. Boots to Grasses is a 501c-3 non-profit, charitable organization that is completely volunteer run - no one receives a salary. 100% of all sponsorship donations benefit riders and are tax deductible! Our fee is $40 for a 1-hour therapeutic horsemanship session - once per week, year round.
At Boots to Grasses, therapeutic activities are specifically designed for each client’s requirements and goals. By utilizing the special bond between humans and horses, Therapeutic Horsemanship can benefit participants of all ability levels. The discipline of Therapeutic Horsemanship encompasses not simply riding horses but also working to form a bond with the horse on the ground. Boots to Grasses encourages participation of any person - regardless of age or challenge being faced. Classes are taught in a private or group format by a PATH International (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship) certified instructor with a Bachelor’s of Science in Equine Studies and Therapeutic Horsemanship from Lake Erie College - in conjunction with trained volunteers.
