Clutter Confidential: 12/31 Clutter Here, Clutter There, Everywhere a Clutter Clutter

Yes, I'm procrastinating on clearing the table. Maybe tomorrow.

I ventured into the hall, because I'd knocked some of those papers onto the floor.
Might as well clean it all up, rather than pick up the papers and put them back in a heap.
It didn't take long at all! Easy one!
Some of the "papers" are actually my inventory of art show invite cards.
Back in the days before my gallery finally switched to email invites, I'd have to order 2000 cards.
The mailing list was 1300 or so -- a huge expense for the postage.
Yet another art career thing I'm not ready to trash.
For now, I stacked the cards neatly in the "dining" (really library and sewing) room.
There are more in a box buried in one of the closets.

Gluttony in NYC, Day 2

It was just the two of us, Manhattan as our oyster, on our second day in the city.

We started with dessert-for-breakfast from William Greenberg Desserts,
within walking distance of The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
I was determined to see China: Through the Looking Glass and was pleased that Severo was willing to join me.
We scarfed down our goodies as the line became longer and longer.
The China show was AMAZING (seven posts about it on SpyGirl) and then we walked the John Singer Sargent show, also incredible.
I find Sargent's painting style very inspiring.
John Singer Sargent, Mrs. Hugh Hammersley, Oil on canvas, 1892
I was so preoccupied with the exhibitions, I lost track of the fact that I went for four hours fueled by only one coffee and one hamentashen. Needed food, STAT.

What better cure for my hunger pangs than some New York style thin crust pizza,
from our favorite place: Pizza Suprema at 31st and 8th.
Ahhhh. Relief.

I was then fortified to take on more sock shopping at Jack's.
Severo shopped vicariously through me.
Severo loves a good bargain.

After all that excitement, naps were needed.
And dinner:
Lobster Roll, Lobster Elote, Salad, Lobster Mac-n-Cheese, at Red Hook Lobster Pound

And dessert at M'o Il Gelato:
Mango Sorbetto, Limone Sorbetto, random cookies

Jammin with The Glutton

Various jam paintings and prints in my studio:
3 Peach Marmalade oil on canvas from March 1996
2 Strawberry oil on canvas from 2002
4 Raspberry digital watercolors on paper from May 2015
This has been a productive year for my utilization of creative challenges on social media.

An A-Z Blog Challenge lead to a large portion of my recent exhibition at TAG Gallery.
Now I have three pieces in a group show in Claremont that came from an Instagram Challenge.

The challenge is called The 100 a Day Project aka #the100dayProject.
(can't locate source. found it on Instagram)

I decided to do digital watercolors of food using the Waterlogue App, which magically turns photos into paintings.
Little did I know that I would end up doing another series of Jam paintings!

Below are the three that will be in the "All U Can Eat" show, hosted by Bunny Gunner Gallery.
Exhibition is at Garner House Gallery in Memorial Park
840 Indian Hill Blvd, Claremont, CA 91711
Hours open: Saturday June 6th 2pm - 10pm and Sunday 12pm - 4pm.
I'll add a Facebook link for the event as soon as it gets posted.

Plus, I made a new batch of models raspberry jam this morning to get another set into work.

The Glutton Considers White

I found Lou's lovely blog Littlegreenshed through Jane of Flight Platform Living.
Lou does a weekly link up series called "Nature in the Home" that looked like fun. Before reaching this post, which explains what her theme is about, I started thinking about white (this week's prompt) in my home environment.

A Painting of a Gravel Pit

Sunset over Gravel Pit, © 2007, oil/canvas, 36 x 60"
I was thinking about this painting the other morning as I drove into work.
It's not in my current show (due to size constraints) but is certainly part of my Commute series
I painted it six years ago, during a two-week workshop entitled Painting's Edge, held at Idyllwild Arts. The program was sort of a mini MFA course created by Roland Reiss. There were nightly slide lectures with visiting artists and critics, and one-on-one critiques during the day. And we painted.

[see lots more Painting's Edge photos on my Flickr here]
This coming July, I'm going up to art camp in Idyllwild again. This time I'm taking a figurative painting class with Rebecca Campbell. She gave me some great advice when I met with her back in 07. A week of painting! Can't wait!

Meanwhile, almost 700 people came to our TAG reception last Saturday -- it was insane!

Elsie Sims, Elyse Wyman and I will be discussing our art with TAG director Laura Korman this coming Saturday at 5:30.
If you're in Santa Monica, please come join us!

Now Showing @ TAG - Map Art

"Thomas Guide, Page 671, Santa Monica Pier" ©2010 digital collage, 14.5 x 19" framed
This piece is now hanging in the Loft area at TAG Gallery. Since many people from out of town visit Bergamot in the summer, I thought I'd exhibit a souvenir type piece. It will be up for a couple of months - unless it sells!

If you can't make it to Santa Monica this summer, you may also purchase this online at Society6.

I was going to do a whole series like this, but have only done a couple. Went on to other things...
