Figure, Colour, Go!

Here are another couple of images from the Gray’s 16 studios. This time from Luke Vinnecombe, whose colourful pieces stand out with their painterly humour and off-kilter characters. The first, titled ‘The Challenge’, can currently be viewed at the Royal Scottish Academy open exhibition in Edinburgh, while the quirky inhabitants of ‘Daytime Television’ offer considerable narrative intrigue. Watching Luke’s canvases develop leaves us wondering who will emerge next.

The Big Year

Now that the festive season is past the hectic task of getting our pre-degree and degree shows sorted out begins. The coming weeks and months will be a flurry of exhibition planning, dissertation writing, fundraising and promotion – not to mention the creation of artworks at the centre of it all. It will be hard work all the way but I’m sure that the talented team are more than up to the task.

The superb hand skills evident in these images belong to Eve Montgomerie. Eve joined us at the beginning of 4th year and has become a valuable part of the scene. Her very personal and subtly political work brings a welcome figurative dynamic to the group.
