In early 2006, I checked out Stargate SG-1 season 9 because of Ben Browder and Claudia Black being in the show. Not only didn’t I think that I would really enjoy the show (and make sure that I would watch all of it from the start as soon as I could) but I didn’t that I would vid it. I still was in the early stages of using Sony Vegas and had been vidding for less than a year. Long story short, I needed to vid Daniel/Vala as soon as I saw them together on screen. For the first time I tried out some color effects to work with a visualization of point of view. I used to be active on Live Journal back then, so I searched for a Daniel/Vala community and posted the video below:

I had no idea of what was going to happen, and that’s one of the moments in my life when I see the hand of God. The Internet is a big place and while I’ve met a lot of great people, some have become close friends in the most unexpected timing and fashion. Rose B. Fischer is one of these special persons.
Those who follow both our blogs here on WordPress have probably already remarked the regular insanity and how we tend to forget to speak English and favor the Genius jargon. This is one of the reasons, along with how I talked about our long term collaboration during my recent guest lecture about vidding, that I decided to tell the story of the Evil Genius Council.
We met through this Daniel/Vala video, because she was interested in possibly making icons from it and politely requested permission. I was excited that someone would be willing to do that, so I accepted. From there, we started talking and found out we had more mutual interests and over the years we also introduced each other discover quite a lot of things. We don’t agree about everything, but it never prevented us from lengthy discussions, respectful exchanges and tons of great moments, whether about fictional universes, life, faith, friendship or creative endeavors. (Rose, I’m thinking in the lines of “#lion” right now!)

I had the luck to see many great arts Rose made, including from numerous of my videos or gorgeous headers she created for my previous website. We also shared a lot about vidding, and beta-ing each other’s works at times, and Rose was my vidding padawan, who ended making some of my all time favorite videos.
Star Wars is one of the fandom we share, and I will always remember when we expressed dissatisfaction about Anakin/Padme in the prequels and talked about the possibility of Obi Wan/Padme, but that any sort of love triangle was a no go and against who Obi Wan and Padme were. The Evil Genius Council (I admit not exactly remembering when we started to call ourselves this) decided to tackle one of its mad many projects (we will need a few lifetimes just to complete the ones we already thought about): One Path. Yes, we had to rewrite all of the Star Wars movies and more, while making sure we stuck as close as possible to canon.
We came up with so many things during this project, from the great Evil Genius arsenal with special double Palpy frying pans to many other things, hunting down the muses, rolling our eyes at Frying Pan Boy (Anakin), glaring at bunnies, squealing over happy vidding accidents and the love of cookie cutters in Sony Vegas. More often than we expected, One Path definitely looked at us in a very smug way, cackled and made fun of us, but thank God we can eat our helmets and save the cookies for later.

I was very happy when Rose joined WordPress as I enjoy reading her posts and it often gives me more ideas than I need (thank you, sweetie) and I have been given much to think about no matter what with many of her writing. Being able to share on a regular basis through discussions, no matter whether on our blogs or through emails, is something very important to me. The Evil Genius Council is far from done, and good thing we don’t do “scared” anymore, no matter how our muses, bunnies, creations and assorted zoo of doom try to get us there.
The above graphic will still be very much accurate even when we’re old and grey. As the saying in Lethal Weapon goes: “We’re not too old for this shit.” I also believe that the Force will be with us, always. This is why I am ending this post with a crossover about Han Solo and Lando Calrissian, Martin Riggs and Roger Murtaugh:
