Sun Shiny Dressage PEI Show

It was a great weekend that started with a dressage clinic from Sue. Sue came over to PEI Friday to teach several dressage riders. Later in the afternoon she came over to our place to teach. First, we worked with Whiscalina and it went very nice. Then, it was Kionus' turn. He also went very good. Sue gave us many exercises to work on till the next time! Ambre and Wanja came over later in the evening to also ride with Sue. She also had a wonderful lesson.

Sue stayed the night to come with us to the Dressage PEI primary show on Saturday. The Tawil Family also stayed and with family over from Holland it was a busy night at our place. In fact, ten guests were in and around the house Friday night plus two horse-visitors! They always say: the more the merrier; well I certainly think that's true!

The crew headed out the Dressage show early Saturday morning. Tia, who rode at her very first dressage show, was the first one of us to show! She did an excellent job! Won the beautiful first place ribbon! She did a super job!
Whiscalina was next to show. Her first test, training 4, went nice and she got 69%! Because Whisca has been going so nicely lately we decided to move her up into first level. She did great and did not have any difficulty. She got 71%! Very nice tests from Whiscalina. Now, she will be enjoying a well deserved fall break! She will be off for a couple of months to rest and fill out even more. She has been perfect this summer and I never could have asked for more!

Ambre was the one stealing the show this weekend! With her four your old mare Wanja she entered in the Training Level I test and got a whopping score of 77%! High Point of the day! Her second test, Training Level II, was also excellent and was rewarded with a score of 70% Good tests and very well ridden!

Kionus also came along and showed. He had a nice spark and bounce going on. In the first test, Fourth II, we got a score of 63%. I was pleased with the way he was going. Also, for the very first time I entered Kionus in the Prix St. Georges! It was amazing to ride that test. Kionus and I started together about four years ago in the lowest level, Basic I. It gives satisfaction knowing that you have worked hard together towards that goal: riding the FEI Prix St. Georges. We got a score of 64%.

Of course, as usual lots of pictures:

Tia: Winner of Green Rider I!!!!! Kionus in the FEI Prix St. Georges
Ambre: High Point of the day: 77%!

Old Home Week 2006

It was another exiting weekend! It was Old Home Week in Charlottetown. Roles were somewhat reversed this year. Ambre was the one doing the jumping and I was dressed in hunter clothing to do the flat classes!

It all started on Thursday with flat. Ambre was so nice to me let me ride her four year old Hanovarian mare Wanja. Wanja was very good and seemed to enjoy her time at the exhibition. I showed her in the flat classes and we placed in all three classes: two fourths and a fifth.

Ambre had the exiting job this weekend: jumping! And by jumping I mean: she entered in the level II jumpers! However, they also entered in the hunters and placed in most of her rounds! But she made me most proud when she placed third in her first jumper round! They also received a fifth in the jumper power & speed! Excellent riding and such a good effort from Trinny! But owh boy, was he ever tired after the weekend was finally over Saturday evening. I'm sure he's going to enjoy the break Ambre has in mind for him over the next few days!

Although Ambre came home with lots of ribbons, the only one who came home with a red one was Tia!!! Tia warmed Trinny up for Ambre by entering him in the lead line class and they won a beautiful trophy and red ribbon!

P.S missing in the picture is Ambre's other groom Mark and her husband and our cook Darren. They didn't miss a minute of the action at OHW; unfortunately, they're too shy to join us in our group picture.

Whiscalina Wins Championship High Score Award: 75%!

Dressage NB held this past weekend the Championships at the Princess Louise Park in Sussex, New Brunswick. We left Friday afternoon with both Kionus & Whiscalina to compete at the championships. The facilities were excellent, the indoor show arena came in very handy after we had some down poors Friday evening and Saturday afternoon. The show was well organized and it was nice to see many familiar as well as new faces.

Whiscalina and I had an excellent weekend! She did an absolute amazing job with scoring several 70's and winning three of her tests!! Whiscalina and I won the Championship High Score award with the score we received in the Training Level II test: 75. 39%. The rest of her show results were as follow:
Training Test I: 72.27% First Place
Training Test II: 75.39% First Place
Training Test III: 73.33% First Place
Training Test IV: 62.31% Third Place
As you can imagine, I was thrilled with her. She went like a dream and behaved like she had been going to these kinds of shows for many years.

Kionus showed in fourth level. We had some good tests and scores; he was very obedient and had clean tests. His results were:
Fourth Test I: 64.89% First Place
Fourth Test II: 60.23% Third Place
Fourth Test II: 62.31% First Place
Fourth Test III: 59.92% Third Place

Our next show is the PEI Primary show, August 26.
