Link analytics lets you see how people are engaging with the files and folders you‘ve shared via link. You can track how many times a link has been opened, and how many times someone has interacted with the content behind it. Link analytics is available to Pro plan users only.
What does link analytics track?
Link analytics tracks two things:
Views
These are counted each time someone opens your link. For folder links, this counts how many times the folder itself was opened, not the individual files inside it.
Interactions
These are counted each time someone accesses the content behind the link. This includes downloading a file, playing a video, or viewing an image or document. For folder links, interactions count every file accessed within that folder, so you‘ll see a combined total across all the files it contains.
Note
For some file types, such as images and documents, views and interactions may show the same number. This is because the content loads automatically when someone opens the link, so both actions are registered at once.
How to view link analytics
- Right-click the file or folder, or click the three-dot menu to the right of it.
- Click Share link or Manage link.
- In the Share link dialog, you‘ll see Link activity, which shows the number of views and interactions.
If you‘ve shared multiple items at once, link activity won‘t be shown in the dialog. You‘ll need to open each item‘s link individually to see its analytics.
Link activity notifications
You can choose how MEGA notifies you when someone views or interacts with your links. You can manage the following in Settings > Notifications.
Email
MEGA sends you an email the first time a link is viewed. You‘ll only receive this once per link to keep your inbox quiet. You can check link activity at any time by clicking Check link analytics in the email, which takes you to the Share link dialog for that file or folder.
Account notifications
These appear in your notification centre the first time a link is viewed or interacted with.
