The primary objective of the event was to convey the significance of the contribution made by the Central Asian and Turkic-language states to combatting the climate change to the international society and present the works carried out towards meeting international obligations by attracting the youth of these states to the climate agenda.
The tree planting action was held in Shamakhy district following the joint initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and Sıfır Atık Foundation of Türkiye. Over 10 thousand pine trees were planted in the action with participation of youth and volunteers from Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Türkiye, as contribution to the protection of the environment.
The project was organized within the framework of the conference on the theme “The youth in the forefront of climate activities” during the 29th session of the Parties Conference of the United Nations Climate Change Convention (COP29).
