We had a fantastic Christmas! I am a lover of all things Christmas . . . and my husband most definitely is not. Luckily my kids have inherited my obsession with the holiday and Kyle humored us. Kyle ended up with the day off on Christmas Eve (even though he had to cover standby in the evening and even though he’s working right now). We went over to his sister, Aricka’s for the afternoon and had dinner and exchanged gifts and let the kids play. Then we went to town and looked at Christmas lights. We’ve come to the general consensus that warm white and red lights look the best so if everyone who reads this blog wants to accommodate that preference next year, we won’t even complain.
Then it was back home to read in Luke 2 about our reason for celebrating and to watch The Nativity video that the church put out. Fantastic conversation with our kids . . . even though their inability to concentrate at moments such as this is a little exasperating. My favorite moment came after I read in Luke. Out of my sweet, two year old’s mouth came the exclamation, “Happy Birthday, Jesus!” Even my wild Avery understands the reason we celebrate this time of year.
Then we had popcorn and holiday M & Ms and watched a Christmas movie before my crazy bunch was off to bed.
The only thing we didn’t do this year that we always do is bake Christmas cookies. We had the flu in this house up until Christmas Eve, so . . . hopefully our usual recipients are grateful we DIDN’t show up. Next year, I promise. Or maybe for the New Year. Live a little, right?
Handsome, little devil. With the wildest hair ever to grace one of my children. Okay . . . maybe tied with Haylee. His hair is combed right here. Not that you can tell.
“Uh oh, it’s Avery. Why are you just standing there taking a photo, Mom!?”
“Oh my gosh! She’s touching me! You know what’s going to happen! Do something!”
“Seriously! Two of them! PICK ME UP!” Bwahaha!
Hunter took this photo! I was amazed. And I love it. My two littlest angels.
And no improvement this year at all…
Me holding her did not even help.
Suspicious of cousin, Payton.
A little Plants vs. Zombies on Tailor’s new XBox ONE? You’ll get no complaints from my boys.
Reading to Gramps . . . while he watches TV. Haha
Babies just love Tanner. He’s so darn sweet.
Hunter: “We know they’re pajamas, Mom. I wonder which kind you got!?” Ugh. Totally my child.
Only 3 tries this year! Last year was like 28. And these smiles aren’t fantastic, but whatever . . . Parker was crying, we were done.
Parker LOVES his new toy from Mommy & Daddy. SO CUTE! Cooing and babbling . . . my favorite.
Avery and Parker do awesome bed head. Try not to be jealous.
Additions to his flex track. Oh, yes.
Turkey calls. Guess what I’ve been listening to all day?
My present from “Kyle” that I ordered myself. My favorite painting. And it’s bigger than it looks in the photo. LOVE it.
Tanner testing out the controls for his new RC boat before we put it in the big pond.
Merry Christmas to all!
