The Republicans Set Up Obama
4 February, 2009For the past quarter-century, by Presidential decree, it has been illegal to carry loaded concealed guns in America’s National Park sites (which include National Parks, Monuments, Historic Sites, Historical Sites, Rivers, Scenic Rivers, Seashores, Lakeshores, etc.). This rule, revamped under the Reagan administration (ya’ll remember Reagan, right? the darling of the neoconservative movement? the patron saint of conservatism?) said that it was legal to have firearms in National Parks as long as they were stowed properly and unloaded. However, under pressure from the NRA, the Bush administration pushed through, visitors to our National Parks can now carry loaded, concealed firearms (they are still not allowed to take them into federal buildings, such as visitor centers). 17 December, 2008The Republican Party has, for the past several election cycles, become a regional party based primarily in the intermountain west (Montana, Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, parts of Colorado and Arizona) and the evangelical south (Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, North and South Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky and Missouri). Two Truly Bizarre Bumper Stickers
23 November, 2008I stopped off this morning to get fuel ($2.05.9 a gallon (which shows just how bad our economy is right now)). The BMW X5 SUV in front of me had two rather scary bumper stickers. The first said:
Vote For The Hand That Rocks The Cradle: Palin 2012
And the second:
