A Day Out With The (((Wife))). With Pictures.
14 April, 2009(((Wife))) and I had something unusual on Monday: shared days off. So we loaded up the ice chest (home-made bread, some hard salami, aged cheddar, marinated artichoke hearts, roasted and fresh red pepper (just basic stuff)) and headed to a foreign country. Well, not a foreign country, just New Jersey. To Sandy Hook, part of Gateway National Recreation Area.
We saw three horseshoe crabs. Dead, but we still saw three:

Christian T-Shirts
29 January, 2009Once or twice a week, I find my poor, innocent eyeballs subjected to Christian T-Shirts. Luckily, this time of year the shirts are covered with sweaters, jackets, scarves, you name it (at least, they are up here in the frozen north — those of you down in the warmth of Florida or Australia are Shit Out Of Luck on that score). I had assumed (stupid me, right?) that these shirts were homemade. They all have the same cheesy iron-on-transfer quality that the famous, “I’m With Stupid ->” shirts had back in the late 70s. Republican Voting and Death
17 December, 2008The Republican Party has, for the past several election cycles, become a regional party based primarily in the intermountain west (Montana, Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, parts of Colorado and Arizona) and the evangelical south (Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, North and South Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky and Missouri). This map shows it pretty clearly:

A Trip With (((Wife)))
13 October, 2008Living with (((Wife))) is a trip. Sometimes, however, we actually get to go on a trip. Our days off clash. The price of gas is up. Tuition for (((Boy))) is up. (((Girl))) wants clothes and shoes. And shoes. Did I mention shoes? Today, thanks to Columbus Day, we shared a day off and, thanks to burning trees in Oregon, we could afford a day trip.
