The first thing I remember is being on an airplane. It was some kind of experimental, anonymous thing so I didn’t even know who my fellow passengers were. No, seriously, they had no faces. I didn’t even see their hair. I headed to the bathroom and saw a hanger full of pockets. You know, like the ones you see in an elementary classroom. I saw that each passenger had their own little pocket where I saw my friend John’s name. Soon after, I also saw the name “Bob”, with John’s last name, so I figured maybe that’s his father.
When I went back to my seat, I had a clear view of the cockpit, which was actually the front half of a car now, but I was still on the plane. I saw that John was in the pilot’s/driver’s seat. I assumed that Bob, his father, was in the passenger’s seat. I also recall the plane doing a little somersault, which the planes in my dreams tend to do, and I think that’s because I sometimes wonder where we feel gravity if an airplane is upside down.
Then we crashed upside down.
But I didn’t wake up the way “Inception” says when you die in a dream. Instead, the plane was flying again and we were landing safely. In a children’s playground, which was on the airstrip because that’s such a good idea? I distinctly remember I was suddenly sitting on the side, so we were heading to my left.
As we deplaned, it was directly onto the airstrip and I saw Max Russo from the first “Wizards of Waverly Place” movie, and he was playing on the water park portion of the children’s place. Then, I saw Justin, but no Alex, so I assumed I was her for an awesome, brief moment.
Next, I am suddenly watching an older blonde woman talking about how her truck had a life of its own and tried to kill her. I think that’s because of Anton Yelchin’s freak accident (may he rest in peace). When I saw the news coverage, I saw that the “truck” was actually those massive buses like tour buses. I could tell by the front bumper. I think the woman showed up in my dream because either in the actual dream or reality, I remembered reading about an actress who was about to board a plane, but she had a sickly gut feeling about the flight so decided not to get on. It turned out she was right: that plane crashed soon after takeoff.
(So this was probably me trying to figure out who she was because I knew I’d seen her on TV recently, but since I’ve been having an SVU marathon, it would just take a while to find my answer. As soon as I woke up though, I remembered without even IMDbing. She was in a Lifetime movie I’d recently watched, not SVU.)
Anyway, she was describing how her own truck came to life and just turned its wheels to face her. At this point, I was laying on my side so I felt like this “truck” (bus) would slide down a hill and come after me. I’m not entirely sure if I was already awake or just slowly waking up, but like a horror movie, I felt this vibration against my back that spanned up my neck. Suddenly, that side–the side that wasn’t leaning against the bed, but feeling this vibration–started gradually going numb. It felt real though, like I was awake. You know that feeling you get when you’re in a dream? You just know that you’re not in touch with reality. Well, this felt real. I was awake, blinking, still feeling that vibration, and whenever I tried to turn my head to see what was there (which was my dog, but he was asleep and he can’t even scratch himself that quickly), I heard a deep gong. Each time I tried to face what was behind me, there was a constant tempo, but that’s also because I had one too.
That’s when I woke up, feeling a little alarmed by the very final part of that dream.
