Hey everyone

So when I got back from mexico I got really ill, which is why I haven’t been on wordpress much. Even now i’m in no condition to write any poems. So instead I thought I’d share with you one of my favourite poems by Hafiz. Im sure you’ve read it before!

“TRIPPING OVER JOY”

What is the difference
Between your experience of Existence
And that of a saint?

The saint knows
That the spiritual path
Is a sublime chess game with God

And that the Beloved
Has just made such a Fantastic Move

That the saint is now continually
Tripping over Joy
And bursting out in Laughter
And saying, “I Surrender!”

Whereas, my dear,
I am afraid you still think
You have a thousand serious moves.”

Love Your Pain

Hurting
You’re not alone
We all experience it
Even the greatest saint you know
Fall in love with your pain
Madly!
There’s no better teacher
In the subject of growth
You’ll become the person
You’ve always dreamed of and
Hoped

Peaceful
Surrender yourself in whole
Let silence fill your mind
Live from inside your soul
It’s the most sacred of meadows
Filled with seeds of Love, Light and Truth
Stand in still acceptance
As the blessed rain pours
Slowly
It will lead to
Your most beautiful growth

Eat Your Vegetables

When you’re weighed down by struggle
About to erupt in pain
You cry and scream:
‘No more, No more
I’m done!’

Then the voice of Love
The Love that knows all
Quietly says:
‘My beautiful child
Don’t be upset
You must finish your vegetables
They’re good for you’

The Opener

Don’t become angry
If you knock and no one opens the door
Understand you are early
While the Opener
Is always on time

Take a seat and wait
Talk with the people and laugh
Pour yourself a drink to drink
Or rest quietly
Till your time arrives

Wait there in patience
Practice how to BE
Dissolve expectations
Fate has its appointed times

When the door opens
You will find yourself confused
The help you were in need of
No longer exists
For in quiet acceptance
All problems are cured

Sometimes it seems like
Your prayer is unanswered
But a secret door opens
And your troubles are removed

Fighting Demons (7/30)

Look into my eyes
Hear the stories they tell
Of the battles I’ve fought
On the fields of hell

Every soul
Is tested and tried
Fighting their demons
Wounded and barely alive

Being pushed to the limit
Pulls out The Guide
The edge of sanity
Is where the Self resides

Embrace who you are
O’ warrior of faith
Your sword and shield
Were forged in Light

When you fight
With faith in hand
You’re invincible
On the battlefield

But if you leave the faith
And stand on your own
All will be lost
Including your soul

You’re not alone
In the war you face
Deep inside you
Lies the army of Grace

A strength so strong
The demon’s shake
Stand in acceptance
And you’ll never break

A Heart of Love

Standing in submission
My heart begins to expand
It spreads like an Ocean
But its depth has no end

Drowned in the water
Consumed by my heart
My muscles are paralyzed
There is no swimming back

I drift deeper and deeper
Staring in amazement
This place is not a myth
There’s a world inside

I reach a place of quiet
Unable to think a thought
There is no movement
Only stillness and peace

The stillness remains
Yet I am moved
My eyes are opened
Everything is so clear

Is the sun lost in the water?
No, I see myself
I am the Light of this world

The light remains
And I am moved
To the place of places
The water is so warm

My being is surrendered
I let myself drown
For now I know
There is no death

For the heart that is Love

Being Open

Accept things with joyful smiles
Keys are forged in surrender
The ‘practice’, opening the door of hearts
The place of receiving

Receiving Grace
Waters the seed of Life
Bringing growth to your soul
And purifying the dirt inside

Soul alive
It slowly spreads
Become consumed
Radiate light and love

In quiet surrender
Keep receiving
Feel the Life
Inside your life

Its warm and quiet
alive and vibrant
It moves your being
Guiding you to life Divine

In still acceptance
No thoughts and want
You become a sacred vessel
Where He worships He

In surrender, dissolve in self
Do nothing but follow
Moved in loving worship
There are a thousand different ways

The deeper your surrender
The more life in your soul
In experience of infinite Reality
You pass stages of different sorts

I’m just a baby here
Grateful for my Life anew
What I thought was my soul
Was not that, not at all

Peaceful Acceptance

Why are you at war
When Spirit is in love with peace?

Fighting each moment
Opens the gates to insanity

Let go, let go and accept
“Indeed, after difficulty there is rest”

Problems come and go
Treat them like visiting guests

Accept them with a smile
Welcome them as priceless gifts

Each brings a form of growth
What could be a more precious thing?

Oh my love,
This fear is a creation of your mind

Within your inner stillness
Your pain will simply disappear

Detach yourself from a fleeting world
Surrender to whatever is and simply Be

A pulsing orb of energy around me, in me,

builds with emotion

As words and music flow flow flow

joy tugs at my soul
