freedom
You
Light
Masks
Colonized Heart
Love has a country
Yes, it has a home
Your heart is its land
The place where Love belongs
So why is it exiled
Waiting to return?
You’ve been colonized by desires
O’ for how long you’ve been controlled!
Enslaved by the chains of pleasure
Blindly led by the whips of greed
Now is the time, soldier
Freedom demands you go to war
Prepare yourself thoroughly
Patience is the strategy to choose
You must fight your carnal self
The greatest of struggles to endure
But independence is worth the effort
For a heart that is free
Brings Love back home

Your Prison
You’re locked up in a prison
Rotting slowly in a jail
It’s amazing how
You’re the officer
Hands tightly clenching the key
There’s a world beyond yourself
One you won’t believe
There the sky is made of love
Raining down in laughter
Growing meadows that are free
And a brilliant shining sun
Smiling down without its teeth
Dig a tunnel in this world
Leave alone it’s childish games
Making you believe
You can really catch your tail
Don’t run around in circles
Ascend straight to the sky
Don’t carry all your weight
Leave all your baggage behind
Fly in the moment
On the wings of faith and trust
Run away from your dream world
And enter the realm of Truth
Freedom’s Wings
If you love somebody, let them go, for if they return, they were always yours. If they don’t, they never were. Gibran
As dawn today rises inside me
The aches of the night fold
Sun rays seep through my window
Your warm touch, your kiss I hold
My heart wanders to my thoughts
Coloured grey, It’s so confused
What’s love when freedom’s lost?
I know now what I must do
I search deep in your sleepy eyes
To me, they speak a thousand words
You are the bird, I am the cage
It is time I relinquish the key
And with this key I give my self
But selflessness is one with love
Quietly I wait in silent prayer
Hoping for the day you return
Flutter your wings and sail away
Let them take you to the highest plains
I shall remain in this abode
Your soul nesting in my arms
And if you return, return in love
Carried back by freedom’s wings
But if the wind keeps you away
Then my heart is not your home

The World of Love
Leave this world of death behind
With its stench of vile desires
Where corpses reason in the name of God
In constant argument with one another
Inhale my breath and come to life
Be born again to the world of Love
Roam the streets in child-like wonder
Where we worship in dance and song
See that man? He’s a lover
Befriend the friends of God
Radiating, their joy is infectious
You’ll fall over yourself in laughter
This world is the world of surrender
Give up hopes and all expectation
Now take a deep breath
Fill your lungs with freedom
But where is that man
Who wore religious garbs;
Standing a top of the pulpit
Spewing anger at the sinners
Perhaps in another place
Maybe a paradise of sorts
But not here my dearest Lover
No space for an atom of hate
In this world of Love

Drop your Anchor
Why do you let the world bully you?
Pushing you back and forth
Until you trip and fall
Now you’re too afraid to get back up
Why do you let people enslave you?
Opinions determine your actions
Spinning out of control
Nervous breakdowns, a nervous wreck
Why does your mind control you?
Imagining situations that don’t exist
Fear overwhelms you
Come back
Reality is not a scary place
There is an anchor within you
Like a backbone
It holds you up and keeps you strong
Drop it and find stability
An internal standard unaffected
Free from world, others and self
