A Journey

The second I saw your blessed face
I understood the meaning of Life
And from that day
No army could stop me
From finding you

I made a sacred vow to leave my life
And search beyond all place and time
Until that precious moment
I could call you mine

I journeyed a thousand new moons
Under flames of the burning sun
Until one morn – knowledge dawned
And I knew the face I saw
Wasn’t born of this world

In my sadness I screamed up high
Where art thou, my splendid Love?
And from within a voice replied

Right here my dearest one
Never have I left your side
I let you roam so you may see
This face of mine is everywhere

Noble Seeking (Duet)

They were two clouds
The sky was their home
Clouds that connected
But were forced to part

Now they roam the Earth
Hearts heavy with rain
Broken apart
Yearning to be whole again

Desperately seeking
Just a glance would suffice
They live in each other
O’ but to be side by side

Their heart opens up
The heavens do too
A bridge to connect lovers
Is what a rainbow will do

When the journey is tiring
They look up to the skies
Love and hope gives them strength
Fate says they must try

So they wander the world
But its never in vain
For spending a lifetime
Searching for Love
Is the most noble of things

Naught But a Seeker

I wandered for many years
A thousand rising suns
A thousand silent nights
I journeyed like the ocean
Moving from shore to shore

Every now and then
I would come across some people

With my unshaven beard
and worn out sandals
They would beg the question
I would answer proudly

‘I am naught but a seeker!’

And they would always be impressed

One day
As I continued to travel
(without a compass)
I met a man with a musky scent
Clean cut and brand new clothes
He sat on a meadow green bed
Watching the sky sail by

As I approached him
He turned to me and asked…

Judgingly
I replied proudly

‘You wouldn’t understand’

Yet, he insisted and argued

‘What harm could an answer cause?’

And so I said,
without thinking
For my tongue had
Memorized the words

‘I am naught but a seeker!’

He asked gently

‘What is it that you seek?’

I hesitated
Thought for a while
And in a half life
I said

‘I seek a treasure buried so deep
The world calls it an ancient myth

I seek the rays of the sun
That will bring life to my soul

I seek self knowledge
That is, knowledge of the Self

I seek real love
That is, love of the Real

I seek the universe in a grain
And a grain that’s the universe!’

With a great smile
The man unwrapped his hand
And presented a golden key

Pointing to a mountain
He said to me

‘There is a door up there
It will give you everything you seek’

I replied indignant,

‘Please keep your key
I already told you once
I am naught but a seeker!’

Keys are forged in surrender
The ‘practice’, opening the door of hearts
The place of receiving

Receiving Grace
Waters the seed of Life
Bringing growth to your soul
And purifying the dirt inside

Soul alive
It slowly spreads
Become consumed
Radiate light and love

In quiet surrender
Keep receiving
Feel the Life
Inside your life

Its warm and quiet
alive and vibrant
It moves your being
Guiding you to life Divine

In still acceptance
No thoughts and want
You become a sacred vessel
Where He worships He

In surrender, dissolve in self
Do nothing but follow
Moved in loving worship
There are a thousand different ways

The deeper your surrender
The more life in your soul
In experience of infinite Reality
You pass stages of different sorts

I’m just a baby here
Grateful for my Life anew
What I thought was my soul
Was not that, not at all

The Great Barrier

Between the two worlds
There is a great barrier
Watched over by the Angels of Might

You’ve journeyed a million miles
But now your effort is only foolishness
For this is the place where waves crash against the rocks

Mist sprays towards the heavens
Blurring the vision of all those who seek
A divine veil covering the most sacred door

Release your thoughts and cares
No longer think ‘I desire not to desire’
In the depths of quietude one uncovers the Divine

Interior commotion is a blindfold
Let Grace descend with her healing hands
Arrive with a pure heart, surrendered self, and open arms

You just may receive the key

Overflow with power
The lock and key
To all spiritual mysteries

In quiet stillness
Oft repeating, body swaying
Flowing in harmony
With the rhythm of life

O Most Gracious, O Most Merciful
O Most Loving, O Most Kind
O Illuminating Light, O Light upon Light
O Life, O Life without whom there is no Life

Your beautiful names
Whispered in reverential awe
Crumble a million and one veils
Exposing the naked beauty of reality

I ascend from the world
To sacred realms
Where I am the inner me
Filled with the deepest peace and joyous ecstasy

Time and space disappear
Soul and Spirit intertwine
And in this beautiful remembrance
The Namer is lost and found in the Named

My Life: Tears of Gratitude

Each tear trickling down my face
Splashes on the ground
and explodes in gratitude towards you

Darkness consumed my world
Broken and shattered by fear
No matter if I looked within myself or without

I cried that night for death
An escape that seemed so sweet
From the prison holding me captive by my fright

Instead, in your all encompassing mercy
Your love descended and you grasped my hand
And led me gently to the key unlocking truth, beauty and light

You brought me the latihan of Subud
But I was unsure of what to do and how to be
Then the angels sang a song of truth that captivated me:

“In facing He who has All
There is nothing that Man can do
Except empty himself in patient surrender”

On that day, my virginity was cast aside
I was impregnated with your divine power
And for the first time in my existence, my Inner Self came to life

Everything I thought I knew
Was burned to the ground, turned ashes and dust
What else could happen in an experience of your reality?

But it was also an illuminating light
Bringing clarity, understanding and the knowledge of Unity
Here I saw beyond right and wrong and all other forms of duality

I began to accept all that was born of your sacred divinity
Any who climbed the multiplicity of your paths using aught but sincerity
And I began to understand my own way of worship: Its rights and wrongs

Most of all, in my darkness
I was showered with your breathtaking and indescribable Love
It descended from the heavens above and poured forth from the heavens within

Although the darkness still lives with me, it is not of me
Now I am those moments of Peace, moments of Love, moments of Reality
In the end, I have been given that which sustains and nourishes me: hope in your divine mercy

What, oh Sacred Love, have I done for all this?
I know no explanation can be demanded of your overflowing Grace
My forehead kisses the ground in prayer and I simply ask that you always stay

My Journey Home

It begins as it always begins

Surrender. Is there any other way?

First comes purification

Ancestral sin made my own

I stomp, sweat and scream

Let it out, let it out, here comes the Exhale

Cleanliness is next to Godliness

Now in purity I enter that angelic place

Always a new journey, your guess is as good as mine

Feelings overwhelm me

What is this? Love and…Familiarity?

In joyous ecstasy my soul confirms

I am home. I am home!

Tears of gratitude fill my eyes

After all this. I can’t believe Im finally home.

A million thanks plus a million more

All of this with no effort. Just surrender.

How can it be? I guess anything is possible with the grace of Love
