The KERA Agrinext Farmers Meetup and Problem Statement Workshop, organized by Kerala Startup Mission in association with The World Bank and the Government of Kerala, was successfully held on 15 May 2026 at Kgees Hill Town Hotel, Kattapana, Idukki. The event brought together farmers, startups, MSMEs, FPOs, research institutions, and ecosystem stakeholders to discuss key agricultural challenges, explore innovative solutions, and foster collaborations for building a resilient and sustainable agri ecosystem in Kerala. The workshop featured problem statement curation, ideation sessions, startup product demonstrations, technology showcases, and discussions focused on enabling impactful pilot collaborations in the agriculture sector. I almost dropped the idea the moment I heard the cost. A Shopify program was happening in Canada. Shibin Dotco from the The eCom Show community called me and said, “You should come. You’ll get a lot of information. A lot of opportunities will be there.” But in my head, it already felt impossible. The expense was huge. Flights, stay, tickets. I didn’t have that kind of money lying around. So I assumed, maybe this isn’t for people like me yet. Then he said: Check with Kerala Startup Mission. Honestly, I didn’t expect much. Still, I applied through the link they shared. And within 7 days, it got approved. That’s when I realised something most founders and freelancers don’t know: A lot of government support and funding already exists. Especially if you can create value, opportunities, or bring more foreign exchange into India But most people never even apply because they assume: it’s complicated, nobody responds, or they’re “not eligible enough.” Sometimes the biggest limitation is not lack of opportunities. It’s lack of awareness. There are rooms, programs, global ecosystems, and networks waiting for talented people from here. Many just don’t know the door is already open. Now the next step is the Canadian visa. I’ve heard it’s tough, but I’m applying anyway. If it works out, I know I’ll come back with a lot more exposure, learning, and insights to share with our communtiy. Either way, I’m grateful this opportunity even came my way. Pray that I get the visa :)
