Picture of the Week 55

The Boeing XB-15 is seen here being escorted by another Boeing design, the P-26 Peashooter. When the XB-15 first flew in October 1937 it was the largest U.S. aircraft built up to that time, with a wingspan of 149 feet (45.4 meters) and a weight of 70,700 pounds (32,100 kg). During the Second World War it was converted into a transport and flew regular routes to the Caribbean and Panama Canal Zone.
