Password reset disk

What you do when you have forgotten your password and you end up locked out of your computer? This is a dilemma  nobody wants.  So, now what do you do? Well, if your me, you create what is known as a password reset disk. I know you can  just reinstall the operating system but, what fun is that. You have to reload all the programs and files that you have.

So what is your next step?

 

Begin at the start menu,start button then inside the search field, type in User Accounts

 User accounts> under “Tasks” on the left side of the pane  click “Create  password reset disk”

Make sure you have removable media which means popping  a thumb drive into one of the USB ports.

After inserting a thumb drive,  click “NEXT”

Here: choose where you have your  thumb drive inserted and click “NEXT”

Here: type in your current password.

The Next step is to place this thumb drive where you can get to it, should you ever need it.

To make a Password Reset Disk For windows 8.1 You will need to set up a local account .

Bring up the Charm Bar

Type in the search field  User accounts> on the left side  below “Tasks”  on the link click  “Create  password reset disk”  Insert a thumb drive into one of the USB Ports. Then go thru the prompt clicking “NEXT”,  choose where you have your thumb drive inserted click “NEXT”. Then type in your current password, click” Finish” and now place this device where you can find it.

where is the device manager?


Today, we are going to be talking about the device Manager, this program holds all the drivers for your system, if you’re talking about a mouse, display, hard drive,or  Usb’s  (Universal Serial Bus) this is where you will find these devices and others.  For Windows XP  go to the device manager,  click on the  start button,  go to the control panel, click on system, click the hardware tab,  then the Device manager tab, here will list the devices that you have on your computer.  For Windows Vista and Windows 7, you want to go to the start button, click on the control panel, then click on Device Manager. If you have a problem with a driver and you are the administrator for the computer click the + next to the device you’re having the problem with. It  will drop down,  Left-click on the device, then Right-click on the device, you should have four choices displayed for you. Click uninstall, click OK, than go back to the where the device was, doesn’t have to be exact. Left click on one of the devices, than right-click  and click on “scan for hardware changes” and see if this will correct the problem. Other issues could be a red “X” on the device, this means the device is disabled, to fix this just  left click on the device, Right-click  “Enable” and restart the computer.

Today, I’m going to be talking on how to make a screenshot, this would be used for example lets say you have something on the screen that you would like to copy, you have an error message that you want somebody to take a look at  and you want to send it in a e-mail.

So let’s get started shall we. You will need to locate paint, In Windows  XP, click start button, go to all programs, then accessories,you will find paint half way down. To make a shortcut, Right-click on paint, a scroll will open up, move to send to > Desktop (Create Shortcut) You can do this the same way in Vista and Windows 7. If you have Windows Vista, or Windows 7, locate the start button, than type “paint in the search field.

To do a screenshot, go on the internet or open a file you would like to copy, press the function key(FN) or the Windows flag on the keyboard than click (Print scr near the top of  the keyboard ) push both buttons down at the same time. Than go to paint, click the edit tab, than click Paste. click the File tab then press save, Type in particular name and your done, go to pictures to see screenshot it will be saved here.

One of the ways in windows 7 is to  press the function key(fn) and the print screen key(prt sc) same way as in Vista. To  use the snipping tool  locate the search field  type in “Snipping Tool” then click on this and click new.

The screen will look out of focus, than left-click basically dragging the mouse across what you want to snip, once you have that done, release the mouse go to paint, click paste then save. Go to Pictures to see screenshot that you made. Have a Great Blessed Day!

Hidden wallpaper in windows 7

To find the hidden desktop wallpaper, go to computer then right-click on the hard drive go to OPEN, than find the WINDOWS folder and Click on it. Go to the GLOBALIZATION folder after you click on this you should see two folders, ELS and SORTING, in the top RIGHT is a search bar, type in MCT, You will see folders that say MCT – ZA – US – GB – CK – AU. You can have all the folders Open up if you click on the first folder hold down the shift key and move the arrow key down and highlight all five folders and then press enter they all will open up into separate windows so you can access each folder. You want to then click on theme for each folder. If you only want to open one folder just click on that folder but, you will have to use the Back space key for each folder These pictures will be transferred to the personalization folder, also known as the desktop.

Today we are going to be installing a fresh copy of windows 7. For an Acer computer to get to the partition,restart the computer, then  press the Alt key and f-10. This will enable the default settings so you can do a clean install from the hard drive.

For all other users, Click the start button then go to all programs, >maintenance and then go down to backup and restore. Click on recover system settings. You have the choice of going to system restore which is undoing the recent system changes or going to the advance recovery method. Click on going to the advance recovery method to set your computer to factory condition.

If you want to back up your files you can do that now or you can skip to the next section. Click the restart button to begin the recovery process. Windows will start loading files Click system recovery than recover without backing up your files.

Make sure you disconnect everything except the keyboard,mouse and monitor. This will bring you to: welcome to the recovery manager click next. It will begin the factory image restore starting with reformatting the window’s partition of your hard drive and then reinstalling the original software that came with the computer when it was first bought.

When recovery is complete click finish to restart your computer. After the computer restarts you’ll see Windows 7 Home Premium. Type in your new username, password and the hint used to remind you of what your password is. Accept the license terms by clicking on the box required to use windows and accept License terms to use your computer end-user license agreement. Use the recommended settings to install important updates from Microsoft. Set Time Zone and clock. If you have a wireless network pick out your wireless network and click next. Windows will start preparing your desktop for use

System recovery will ask you if you wish to make a recovery disk now or do you want to do it later. You will need three DVDs to do this so if you don’t have them then click please remind me later.

If you have already done this click do not remind me again and click finish.
