What we've been up to...

Well, I have a few pictures I thought were great and I told my mom I'd share with her, so I thought I'd just post a blog.

Since we have been in the house so much with us being sick, I figured I'd take advantage of this time at home and potty train Will. This is a Picture of Will with his Potty treat...

...As for the two pair of underwear--while he was sitting on the potty, I was showing him his cool Spiderman underwear and he wanted to hold it. Then he put it on his head and called it his hat. He wore these underwear on his head for a good couple of hours, so he got one for his head and one for his bum. :)

As for the potty training, it didn't last. After having to run to the bathroom every 1/2 hour and then not staying dry through a nap, I figured, he's a little young to try to potty train. We'll wait a few months and try again. So much for one kid in diapers at a time! Oh well.

Tonight we discovered that Batman has returned into our lives...

Will has now inherited the Batman apparel. I was so sure he'd be more into Spiderman, but lately he plays a lot of Batman and he loves to wear the cape, of course.

As for Patrick, he's not quite done with being a superhero. Tonight he made up his own and called himself "Sight at Night" because "he can see a mile if he wants or he can see all around the world, like to the South Pole if he wants to."

Here's a little video of "Sight at Night" and Batman. I have to apologize because I filmed it (this proves that John is right, I am horrible at filming). In my defense, I thought the camera would turn as I turned....it didn't. :)

Here are a couple more pictures of the kids. My friend Luisa recomended finger-painting for an inside activity, so I made some out of pudding for Will so he could paint while Patrick painted his dinosaurs he got from Grandma. It was fun to see Will finally understand that he could eat his paint. He loved it! :)

Cabin Fever

Well, I'm officially sick of winter now. The snow never stops and it seems that with it comes sickness, which also seems to never stop for our family. About 3 weeks ago, Will and I came down with coughs, mine followed by a nasty cold, which lasted a week, week and a half, then seemed to be going away last week, which was so nice. I could taste food again and smell Will's diapers when they needed to be changed, which maybe isn't so good for me, but I'm sure a lot better for him. :) We finally were coming out of it and it felt great! Then, two days ago, Will and I started coughing pretty bad again! I wanted to get rid of it before it became what it did last time, so I made doctor's appointments, hoping that a little kick from antibiotics would help us out a little. My doctor told me that I probably had a bacterial infection, since the same pattern of symptoms were coming back, so he gave me a prescription for a lovely antibiotic. Will's appointment wouldn't be until the following day.
Patrick came home from school really upset about his ear bothering him all day, he didn't think his teacher would let him call home, so we had a little talk about when you're sick at school and how to call home. I told him we could see the doctor at Will's appointment the next day and that just wasn't good enough for him, so I called to see if we could get in that very day, which we did....after waiting for 45 minutes in the waiting room, but what else can you expect, just getting in the same day is great, right?
Well, Patrick did have an ear infection, but we caught it early, so he hasn't been in much pain. Will, on the other hand has the dreaded RSV, no medicine can help it and his doctor told me I probably have it too. So if my wonderful antibiotics don't work, I'll be very disappointed but I'll know that it wasn't a bacterial infection at all but a whole new sickness that just happened to come right after the other one. What will be next?
Luckily Will is old enough to handle RSV and it doesn't affect him like it would a newborn, (thank goodness our baby won't be born for a few months). Just knowing that we're carrying that virus, makes me scared to see anyone, so we will be quarantined to our house for anywhere from 2 -7 days. If you have any spare time please call, it would be nice to at least talk to someone. :) If anyone has some fun indoor activity ideas, I'd love to know something new to do with the kids!

This was not written for pitty, just to relieve a little frustration. :)

Proud Mama

Yesterday, when Patrick got home from school, I asked him to get his homework out, he did and handed me a stack of notes. One of the notes was congratulating him on being the Student of the Month! I was so excited for him and he was very excited too. :) His big highlight is that he gets to eat lunch with the Principal in the Library on Thursday with the other Students of the month from other grades. Neither John nor I ever had anything like that happen for us so we're just excited that Patrick is enjoying school and really doing well, it's very fun to see.

I haven't blogged for a while, I guess after all the exciting Christmas festivities, life is feeling pretty blah now. :) We're just back into normal life I guess. It's a little different now though, we have a couple changes: John has started back at school, he says it feels good to be doing it. We're just hoping the next couple years goes by pretty fast so we can have our daddy back at night. John is very thoughtful of me, even when he has a lot to do with work and homework, he always fits in a little family time and I really appreciate him for that. He's such a great guy!
I am enjoying work a lot better because I only have two shifts a day instead of four. I can't believe what two hours more a day does for me. I am doing much better at keeping the house tidy, I actually make my bed every day, I'm sure John would agree, it's a good change. :) We also sold my car, I really miss it, especially in the snow, but we're just trying to save up a bit for a van when #4 gets here.
Well, I think that's all our "news". I'm excited to get back to playgroups and seeing my friends, I missed you all during the Christmas break, so if you too are a little bored, please CALL ME! :)
