Oh to be bald

So James had a pretty bad case of cradle cap, or as I like to call it, cradle crap. John got some baby oil, so we plastered James' head with it but he looked so greasy and gross. My good friend Jen, told me to put the oil on, then bathe him and scrub his head with a very, very soft comb and it would clear up in a couple weeks, so this is what we tried. It would have worked too, if I would've just been more patient, but he looked so gross.
Sunday morning I gave James a bath. His head looked a little dry still and a few flakes were stuck in his hair so I thought I'd get a comb and see if we couldn't get rid of those flakes. Once I started combing, more flakes were appearing and not only that, (his hair was getting patchy already), but it was coming out in clumps while I was trying to comb away the flakes. Wow, this is sounding like he had a really bad case of dandruff. He doesn't have dandruff, it's called cradle cap and it's very common in babies, just because the definition is exactly the same as dandruff, doesn't mean it is dandruff, my baby is cute and not gross..... :)
Anyway, to make a really long story not so long, here are pictures of John shaving James' head. I just couldn't handle the flakes, did I tell you it looked really gross?

Now he has a smooth cute head, but it is weird to see him bald, I've never had such a bald baby. At least his hair will grow in a little more even than it would have before. Let's look on the bright side of things eh?

Bald is beautiful!

The 24th!

On the 24th of July we started the day off with the Washington Pioneer Day Parade, which Patrick was able to be a part of with the primary in our ward, he was pretty excited that "this was the first parade he was going to ride in." I don't think the excitement lasted much into the parade when he realized how hot it was even at 9:00 a.m. and especially that he couldn't ride fast. He was really wobbly because he had to ride so slow. All in all, the parade was a little disappointing to Patrick. :)
Will had fun gathering candy and waving at the people in the parade.
James slept through it all...what a good little boy! :)

We Made It!

Well, we are in our new home and it feels great to finally be here and actually mostly settled already.
On the drive down, Will got to ride half way with John in the truck, then he and Patrick switched so Patrick could have a turn. James did so great, I couldn't believe it, he was perfect, he's been so good all week, another blessing in my life.
On the way to Grandma's, I told Will, "Hey, you know what? Your room has pink carpet, it has a pink floor!" He got all excited and said, "Awesome!" Then, when we got to Grandma's house, he wandered around exploring and saying how awesome everything was. He took me in my parent's bedroom (the master bedroom) and said, "Look, this is awesome" and then took me in the master bathroom like he'd never seen one before and said, "And look, AWESOME!" It makes it a lot easier to move when your kids are excited about it, that's for sure. :)
When we got here, Mom and Dad were waiting and ready to help. Kurt and Garrett came right over to start unloading too. We really appreciate all the help everyone gave us, I know I've said this before, but John and I really do have the best families.
After we unloaded the truck, Sheila came over and she and Mom helped me unload boxes. We only have about 4 boxes left. It feels so good to be pretty much settled already. I thought I'd be unloading stuff for a couple weeks!
Anyway, we're here, we're safe and we're happy! Now we just need to find John a job and we'll be great!!!!
Thanks again everyone for all your love and support!

Happy Birthday Mack!!!

Mack is the hardest working guy I know. And I think he really enjoys it. He has his own landscaping business and has always loved driving tractors. My parents must have been inspired when they named him! :) He is such a kind, patient, fun guy. I really have the best family in the world! When I was little, I remember Mack getting asked to dances all the time, there were always girls coming over to decorate his room. I know I was a really annoying little sister, but he was never mean or rude to me. When I think of Mack, I just think, good. He is just so GOOD, but not in a "preachy" way, in a "I want to be like you" sort of way. Mack has so many friends too, he's very friendly and inviting to everyone he meets. I remember I was dating a guy no one wanted me to date, but when I talked to Mack and his wife about him, they were nothing but supportive and accepting and I've always appreciated that about them/him. I love you Mack!

Streaking

It was time for haircuts again...
This is how Will killed time waitung for Patrick to get out of the shower. What? We didn't want to get hair all over the house!

This weekend...

This 4th of July weekend, I really was going to take pictures, but didn't really get much. Oh well, at least I have proof of John swimming with the kids. He hates swimming, but I guilted him into it. He had a lot of fun, so did the boys, despite what Will looks like in the pic. He really warmed up to it and ended up crying when we had to leave because he didn't want to get out!

John's brother, Gary & his family always come up from AZ for the 4th. It was so great to see you guys! Here are a couple pics of the fam:

Kammie & Stacey

GaryCadeJasonJeep rides are always among the favorite thing to do with Uncle Mark:

I just wanted to take some pictures of James, he's getting so chubby now. I told my mom she's not going to recognize him when she see's him! Anyway, here are some cute pictures of him, can you tell it was just about his nap time?

Also this weekend, we blessed James. I was sad not to get pictures of him with Great Grandma and those who came to the blessing, I really am not on top of it. But here he is in his blessing outfit with some goofy hair, but he's still cute...

Oh yeah, Patrick lost his other front tooth a while back...

Happy Birthday Sheila!!!!!

Today is my sister's birthday, oh, wait, it was yesterday. I did call her, but I just never found time to post, but I still wanted to say something about her. I can't find a picture of her, wow, I really need to take more pictures in my life, I'll get better...
Sheila is THE most patient person I know (besides Mom). She is amazing with kids, she truly loves them. She is a really great cook and loves to bake treats (a woman after my own heart) :).
When we were little, I remember she'd be in the kitchen making cookies and I (probably after all other 8 children in our family) tried to pick out a little cookie dough to eat. Uh-uh, not when Sheila was in charge. Those cookies were to be cooked, she guarded the dough while she baked and wouldn't let us touch the dough.
Sheila is also one of the best bargin hunters I know. She and my mother-in-law tie for 1st place. :) I'm excited to get lots of good deals at the grocery store and when black Friday comes along!!!!
I'm looking forward to living by her. She is always there for me when I need someone to talk to and I love just hangin out at her house, I'm sure we'll have a lot of fun baking, watching movies and shopping! Can't wait! Love ya, She

Thank you!

I don't know how many of you have ever read this version of the Book of Mormon. I really love it because there are a lot of quotes from different prophets and explanations of things I don't understand, etc. Well, I was reading in Alma 15 about Alma and Amulek and how they have to help each other out at different times and in the footnotes it says:
"There are times when we give to others
and times when we recieve."
Right now my family is in the "recieving" times. We really appreciate everyone for the help we've been given financially & emotionally. We have the best families and great friends and I know I couldn't ever find better! Thank you all again and I hope I can soon be in the "giving" times.
