Hello – Summer Update

12 Jul

I have been so busy!  Here’s what’s going on…

  • We went on a little vacation last week to Oregon.  Visited two aunts, went to the Enchanted Forest, Prehistoric Gardens and Gold Beach.  Had a great time.

July 2009 Vacation

  • Andrew performed a magic show for Katie’s birthday party and the kids loved it!

Katie's Bday

  • I took the Joann’s sewing class and made this pillowcase… then I finally made the dress for Katie.  Let me know what you think!

The Dress

  • Katie finished her swim classes and will be starting gymnastics at the end of this month.
  • Grant is trying so hard to talk… a few words he’s yelling at me: BABY, HERE! and MAAAAAAA!
  • Baby is getting big (3 months already)
  • We are all sick. 😦

She’s here!

Tomorrow is the big day!

30 Mar

Ok… tomorrow… FINALLY!!  I probably won’t post anything until I get home later in the week, so wish us all luck!

Almost NOT pregnant… yippy!

Things I’m looking forward to after having the baby (besides having a new bundle of joy, of course):

  • Sleeping on my stomach again
  • Eating any kind of cheese I want without checking to see if it’s pasteurized
  • Getting rid of all these maternity clothes (I got some secondhand for free, for which I can’t complain, BUT most of them were not my style or WAY too large for me) and getting back into my ‘old’ stuff.
  • The strawberry daiquiri that has been calling my name
  • No more heartburn (besides the kind that comes with the occasional Mexican food)
  • Going on the rides at Knotts instead of sitting them out.  (Just once on the Log Ride would be nice!)
  • Putting the steering wheel back to it’s normal place
  • Seeing my feet

26 more days!!!

35 days and counting!

23 Feb

I’m down to 5 weeks left of this pregnancy. Thank God! I have to say it’s been the easiest of all three… I didn’t have all of the crazy side effects like last time, which I am VERY happy about.

I’ve already told you about the amazing deals we got in regards to baby stuff. I just have a few more things to get and we will have everything but the baby. 🙂 My husband keeps telling me he’s going to laugh if it’s a boy. I keep telling him I’m going to punch him if he laughs. 😉 I went with that ‘70% chance’ that it’s a girl and ran with it. Everything I bought is pink & brown. All of the clothing I have is pink. (all secondhand)

We will be scheduling the c-section for the week of March 30th. While I thought it would be fun to go with April 1st, I’ve since vetoed it. Knowing my luck, it WOULD be a boy and the joke would be on me. LOL So there you go. I’ve been doing some nesting (if you call doing my regular chores nesting), have moved Grant into Katie’s room, and have all of the new baby’s things all set up.

So… if you don’t hear from me too much, it’s not for lack of love – I’m either running after these two rugrats (Grant RUNS now!), on Facebook, OR taking a nap.

Winter Beach Day

4 Feb

Took the kids to Huntington Beach yesterday with a friend of mine and her kiddos. We had a great time! Grant LOVED the water and cried the entire way back to the car. Katie made sand angels! It was a good 80 degrees out and the beach was pretty much deserted on a Tuesday winter’s afternoon. Great for us!

Girl??

No boy parts could be found, so they gave me a probability of 70% chance it’s a girl.  Katie is thrilled and is still pushing for Majesty to be the name.  Though on the way home, she also suggested McDonalds as an alternate.  Suffice to say, she will have no hand in naming this baby. 😉

Christmas Meme…

24 Nov

I know I’m skipping over Thanksgiving entirely, but here is a little Christmas meme…

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags?

Either one, depending on the gift

2. Real tree or Artificial?

I prefer real if I can afford it.  Probably no tree this year.

3. When do you put up the tree?

After Thanksgiving

4. When do you take the tree down?

Around the first of the year.

5. Do you like eggnog?

Yes!

6. Favorite gift received as a child?

Cabbage Patch Kid

7. Hardest person to buy for?

My dad & my father-in-law

8.Easiest person to buy for?

My kids

9. Do you have a nativity scene?

No

10. Mail or email Christmas cards?

I only mail cards… and usually make them (but not this year… are you nuts?)

11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received?

I can’t think of one I didn’t like

12. Favorite Christmas Movie?

A Christmas Story, but I also love Elf.

13. When do you start shopping for Christmas?

I try to shop throughout the year

14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present?

Of course.

15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas?

Most anything homemade is good to me!

16. Lights on the tree?

Yes

17. Favorite Christmas song?

O Holy Night.

18. Travel at Christmas or stay home?

We’ve never actually ‘travelled’.  We usually go to each parent’s house.  But this year planning on staying at home… too much running around!  Just want to enjoy the day with the kids at our house.

19. Can you name all of Santa’s reindeers?

Yes

20. Angel on the tree top or a star?

I don’t even know what decorations I have!

21. Open presents on Christmas eve or morning?

Both… we usually see extended family and friends both days.

22. Most annoying thing about this time of the year?

The lines at the stores.

23. Favorite ornament theme or color?

I have an old angel from when I was a kid.

24. Favorite for Christmas dinner?

Turkey or ham

25. What do you want for Christmas this year?

I know I’m getting old… a food processor and a dustbuster!  🙂  But a gift cert for a massage or pedicure would be even better!

Inconclusive?? Inconceivable!!

4 Nov

Well, this squirt is giving us a hard time already.  The ultrasound tech was unable to tell us the gender of the baby!  She told us throughout the appointment that the baby was not cooperating and they weren’t able to get all of the measurements for the doctor.  More than likely, my dr will make me wait a month and then send me back for another one.

Grrrr!  I was so looking forward to finding out!  I’m not leaning either way, but my curiosity is getting the best of me!! I tell you, if I could afford one of those 3 or 4D ultrasounds, I’d be out there right now getting one.

Our Halloween

2 Nov

We had fun this Halloween.  It was Grant’s first and he was a little monkey (courtesy of last year’s 75% off sale at Target!)

Frightening!!

1 Nov
We got a wig for Katie a couple months ago, and when Andrew put it on, I knew he looked like someone, but I couldn’t think of the name until yesterday.  It’s frightening, isn’t it?  I could barely stand to kiss him once he had the wig & glasses on.
Which is which? Andrew or Bruce Vilanch? You be the judge.
Scary, isn't it?!

Scary, isn't it?

Luckily, both the wig and the glasses came off and I was able to get a proper kiss.  But just thinking about it gives me the willies. (Sorry Bruce)
Happy Halloween. 🙂

October!

3 Oct

Fall is here and we have a lot planned for this month… each weekend holds something new!

  • Book Festival
  • Family Festival in my hometown and having a Class of 92 meetup there.
  • Trip to Oak Glen to go apple/raspberry picking, then down to the pumpkin patch with my hubby, kids, parents, niece and nephews.
  • Husband’s 40th Birthday Party
  • Halloween

We don’t usually have so much activity in one month.  I’ll be taking advantage of naptime whenever I can!

Here is a collage from our trip to Oak Glen two years ago.

My niece is due in 9 days.  Not that I’m counting down or anything!  Our family is outnumbered by boys… so far, the score is Boys:6, Girls:2.  This will bring us up to 3 girls.  Hopefully my next one will be a girl too!

This is a picture of the Diaper Cupcakes I gave to my SIL for her shower.  I think it turned out pretty cute!  They are nestled together on a tiered cupcake holder.

Tonight, as we were sitting in a booth for dinner, a guy (who’s @ss was facing us) at the table across from us farted in our general direction the entire time.

What does one do in this situation? Go up to him and ask him to stop?  Tell the management?  We just looked at each other in astonishment and giggled.  Gross.

5 years

6 Sep

It’s our 5 year anniversary today!  Not bad for meeting on Yahoo Personals!  We’re actually going out to dinner and a movie tonight… woooo!  I don’t think we’ve gone out just the two of us since before the baby was born.  Oh happy day!

Netiquette?

24 Aug

I have several emails in my inbox that I have yet to respond to.  Between a messy house, two kids and throwing up, I find I don’t have much time to sit and write back to people!  Do I write a half-@ss response or wait until I actually have the time and let them think I am ignoring them in the meantime?  What are the netiquette rules in my case?

Oops, I did it again…

7 Aug
As if we didn’t have our hands full enough with Katie and Grant, God has blessed us with a third pregnancy!  Looks like we will be having Baby #3 in late March, early April.
This should complete our little family, and we are looking forward to the many years of raising these wonderful children.

A week of firsts.

5 Aug

Our past week was filled with some new experiences.

  • Katie got her first ice cream off of an ice cream truck!  I remember the ol’ ice cream truck coming around our neighborhood growing up, so as soon as I heard the song, I ran in and got her (and Andrew to take pictures, of course.)  Who knew 4 ice creams would cost $7.00.  Yikes!  I think we’ll be sticking to our store-bought treats from now on.
  • The circus was in town and we got some of the cheapie nosebleed tickets.  There was a preshow where we were able to go down to the floor and see some of the acts up close and even take pictures with the performers.  During the elephant show, one started pooping, then it set off a chain reaction.  Next thing you know, EVERY SINGLE elephant was doing it’s thing, and there were people out there with shovels during the whole act.  The audience was howling.  Way too funny.
  • Katie started her swimming lessons yesterday.  One down, 8 to go.  She really enjoyed it, and didn’t want to leave.  We go back today for class #2.
Yes, that is my big butt, and yes, I got an ice cream too.

On an unhappy note, we helped my mom get my grandpa’s house ready for an estate sale.  The good news: we were able to clear out and sell many items.  The bad news: there’s still a lot more to do.  Wish us luck.

I felt the earth move under my feet!

29 Jul

Ah, living in California.  We just had a 5.8 earthquake about 10 miles from my house.  Scared the crap out of me… haven’t felt one in awhile.  I grabbed baby out of the playpen then ran to get Katie from her room.  She just kept saying ‘I’m sorry Mommy!’.  LOL.

Just a few things fell, which has never happened to me that I know of.  A few picture frames and several books.  Only one casualty… a large picture frame from Walmart, so it can definitely be replaced.

Have you ever experienced an earthquake?
