Wicked Halloween Treats

Ok, I'll admit it -- I love Halloween for the candy.  Dressing up is fun, but the chocolate keeps on giving!

These tins are linked to Order of the Opus Gluei's 'Something Wicked This Way Comes' Halloween challenge because we all know that treats are not only wickedly good, but the weight gained from enjoying too many of them (who, me??) is  wickedly difficult to lose.  Thanks for a fun challenge, Poobahs!

And the only thing better than chocolate is chocolate in a cute container, like these fun tins:

The pop tops are still intact, leaving recipients to wonder if they are receivintg more trick than treat.   It's magic, but not the black kind!

Check out my TUTORIAL on the DRS blog for how to create this easy altered tin or see this post for another fun application.

Happy Halloween!

Making a Naughty or Nice List?

Tiddly Inks digi 'Check My List Twice', MFT sentiment.  Cardstock:  K&Co. 'Let it Snow!', Real Red, GP110 white, Papertrey white.  Accessories:  rectangle and tag Nestabilities, white flocking, felt ribbon, mini comp book, mini gel pen.

I take my cue from Santa -- I'm constantly making lists for Christmas!  Mini notebooks are the perfect size for those spur of the moment gift idea epiphanies or even the more mundane notes like keeping track of gifts you've already purchased.

Isn't this cutie from Tiddly Inks the perfect cover art for your 'naughty or nice lists'?  I added flocking to her suit trim for a little extra touchable fun:

Tiddly Inks challenge #30:  'Christmas Time is Here' is the inspiration for this notable project and Mercy's Tuesday Sketch #102 provided the sketch.  Now if I can just get organized enough to use it!

For my card I went with the CAS sketch and used a Magnolia card kit created by the Jacki (). Doesn't this combination of papers and colors remind you of a Mary Engelbreit theme? I also altered a mini comp book to create a coordinated gift set:

Peep Jars for Easter Gifts!

Need a quick hostess gift for Easter? Try these peep jars that kids love to help assemble. Here's the recipe; you just add each ingredient in order to a 1 quart canning jar:

1 sleeve of graham crackers, reduced to crumbs (fun with a rolling pin!)
8 bunny peeps, facing out
1/3 cup brown sugar (spoon inside bunny ring)
Fill remainder of jar with M & Ms

Attach label with baking directions:

Directions: Empty the jar contents into a bowl. Snip the bunnies to bits with kitchen shears or cut up with a knife. Return the bunny bits to the mixture and mix well. Melt 1/2 c plus 2 Tbsp. butter, add 1tsp vanilla. Pour over dry mixture; mix well. Pat into greased 8x8 baking dish. Bake at 350 for 15 -25 minutes. Cool and cut into bars.

Option 1: Leave bunnies whole; combine remaining
ingredients and place the bunnies on top. Bake as directed.
Option 2: Omit vanilla, bake and serve warm over ice
cream or use blender to mix with ice cream like a Blizzard.

Decorate the jar as desired; I used an image from my stamping buddy, Angela (Just Monkeying Around), that was colored by 13 year old DD for the topper. Didn't DD do an awesome job with the pencils and gamsol?

We're at the tail end of another round of the summer cold/bronchitis, so we can vouch for the popularity of Vitamin C lozenges! Plus, the surprise of having to pop the top to get to them will win you lots of 'wow' factor points. A full tutorial on how to create these fun altered peach tins can be viewed HERE.

DRS Designs is sponsoring this week's Charisma blog challenge which is to create an altered item. Be sure to stop by the Charisma blog to see more amazing re-purposed creations!
