Wonderful Vistas!

This week’s theme from Tara over at Sticky finger was a blessing for me at first. It is ‘Landscapes’ and I have lots of wonderful memories with the photos to go with them that I’d love to share. However, it then turned into a bit of a nightmare because I had to choose! I’m hopeless at choosing – ask hubby! I’ve tried to give them a theme

Some very long and flat

Some with hills

Some with bridges

Some with castles

Some with the wonders of man’s accomplishments with nature!

Click the lens cap at the top and go visit some other great landscapes!

Vivre La France!

What does ‘France’ conjure up for you?

Frogs legs? Snails? Garlic? A language you probably had to learn at school?

For us it is long, straight empty roads, old farmers in bright blue overall-type trouser and delicious food.

We have just returned from a short trip to the Loire. We are confessed Francophiles – we love the place. We have a very soft spot for Paris but also feel right at home in rural areas. This visit however has seen me being more objective in my ‘looking’. I suppose it is partly from having this blog and wanting to share my experiences with you. Continue reading

New York, New York!

Now that the schools have broken up thoughts can really turn to holidays. As retired people (doesn’t that mean you have lots of time to yourself? When does that start then?) hubby and I have the choice of when to go away. I can remember saying with passion ‘When I retire I am not going on holiday when the children do!’

Somehow that isn’t always the case but at least we have the choice. Although we are on a budget, we can still afford to go away and will be doing so later this month. We are off to our favourite spot in the Loire in France.

However, the reason for this short post is to give you advanced notice that the OCD kid ( see ‘Rear-View Mirror Angst’) has agreed to going somewhere different next year! We started looking at villa holidays and soon discovered a whole world out there. After lots of looking, comparing and debating we have agreed to go to New York!!

I’m so excited! We are going to go next May when the weather is beautiful and the blossoms will be out. My dearest will have nearly a year to plan, re-plan and then plan (bless him!) At the moment he is eyeing up cases to see if they match the measurements given!!

Anyway, watch this space and I’ll keep you updated. I may well be coming back for hints and tips!

His Pride!

That clever lady Tara Cain over at Sticky Fingers, has set us a particularly difficult challenge this week for the Gallery. We have to choose a photo that we are proud of!

Those of you who follow my blog will know that my husband is the photographer. I felt it only fair to ask him which photo he is proud of. His real pride is this one that has already been posted. However, this one comes a close second.

It is the bridge that crosses the Loire at Saumur. It is a fantastic photograph & is one of our favourite memories!

Sunshine!

This post is for Alphabe-Thursday Rainbow. This week it is the colour YELLOW. you can see lots of other entries over at Jenny Matlock’s great blog ‘Off on my Tangent’

I think this picture says it all!

It was taken in the Loire valley where they have miles & miles of sunflowers. They are real sunshine because as the sun moves across the sky, they turn their faces to follow it! Magic!
