NEW ORLEANS – The Allstate Sugar Bowl announced that James Madison redshirt junior Alonza Barnett III has been selected as the Manning Award QB of the Week for week 10 of the college football season.
Â
It's the second time in Barnett's career that he received the accolade, joining his 2024 honor following JMU's win at North Carolina.
Â
This comes on the heels of Barnett being named to the Manning Award Stars of the Week for the second time in as many games after tallying 362 total yards and five touchdowns in JMU's 52-20 win at Texas State on Oct. 28.
Â
Barnett passed for 264 yards and a season-best four touchdowns while rushing for 98 yards and a score in JMU's first-ever Tuesday night game.
Â
The Whitsett, N.C., native is already on the watch list for the 2025 Manning Award, which will be announced at the conclusion of the college football postseason.
Â
JMU is back in action on Saturday, Nov. 8 when it faces Marshall in Huntington, W.Va. Kickoff is set for a noon start on ESPN2.
