Halloween Festivities!

We had a fun past couple of days doing Halloween things. First we went to the Pumpkin Patch and picked out some pumpkins. I really wanted a White Ghost Pumpkin this year, and I found one, but not the greatest one. I guess all the good ones were already gone... John picked his and the next day we carved them. I made homemade Chili for dinner and then we did our pumpkins. I decided to just look at an Owl picture and then free hand it on my White pumpkin with a Sharpie Black marker. I think it turned out really fun! John did a stencil carving of Linus from Charlie Brown. His turned out really well! Last night we went to our ward dinner/trunk or treat. We felt kinda strange being there... with out kids... so we bounced after dinner. Today we are at John's family's house to spend Halloween with them. Hope you all have a Happy Halloween! P.S. Today is the little stinker's 2nd birthday!

Amazing Pumpkins!

Today I got an email from my Aunt with the most amazing Pumpkin pictures. I looked into the guy who made these a little further. I already posted a pic on my facebook page, but oh well. Go HERE for his facebook page. This guy Ray Villafane deserves a whole blog post! He is the most talented Pumpkin carver in the World I swear. I saw a little special on him tonight on the CBS news and he seems like a really cool, down to Earth dude. He will also appear on the upcoming Food Network Challenge: Outrageous Pumpkins airing October 30th. He spends like 8 hours sculpting his creations! He never thinks they are good enough. I think they are more than good enough. They are works of art! I guess he will be doing Pumpkin carvings at the White House this year! So rad! Check out some of his work:

Pumpkin Cake

John and I started making a Pumpkin layer Cake around 8 last night after he got home. Then we started to watch Prison Break. After the cakes came out of the oven they had to cool off. We then put them in the fridge to really cool off. While it was in the fridge, we made the Cream Cheese Frosting. Well, we got caught up in watching a bunch of Prison Break episodes so we didn't end up enjoying our creation until around 11 P.M. Ha.Ha. It was worth it though. It turned out really good! John gets most of the credit; I just helped here and there, and took pics & a short cheesy video of John while frosting the cake that mentions unmentionables. ; ) If you would like to try it, I've made some recipe cards for you; just right click on the recipe cards and click: Save Image As... It was easy, festive, and yummy! P.S. none of us had ever made a layer cake with frosting before, so it's not the prettiest looking thing. Bon Appetit!

Random House Shots...

Today was very productive! I went to the gym, did laundry, vacuumed the whole apt, and then I decided I wanted to paint some mirror frames from IKEA that used to be Black to Green. I like them a lot better! Green is happier than Black! It was a free and easy project. We got these Cinnamon Pinecones from Albertsons and they make our whole place smell sooo good. I put them in a White dish and inside that Pumpkin bowl I got. I love coming home and having that wonderful smell fill the air! Of course I threw in some shots of the little stinker cause she's my little shadow.
