This dress, which Anna let me borrow, belonged to her great great grandma. How cool!

3rd year at TAPS

For the last 3 years I've attended the TAPS National Seminar in Washington D.C. over Memorial Day Weekend, which is consequently the same time that John passed away. It has been a really great tradition, and I've always gotten so much out of it. The people I meet are wonderful, the classes are helpful, the food amazing, and the activities super fun.

I was so happy that my in-laws decided to come with me this year! Julie and fam couldn't come cuz Julie was 8 months pregnant, but everyone else was there. I have the best in-laws and really enjoyed being with them.

I was SO sad to hear that my mother-in-law lost her camera on the last day there. But even worse, to discover that a week later I lost my camera, too! So all of our pictures from that weekend are gone. We have only a few that my brother in law Luke took.

This is at the Nationals Game. Johnny was terrified of the giant Founding Fathers. :)

Another blanky phase

Johnny went through this cute phase where he insisted on sleeping with his blanket over his head. This picture was taken back in May. He actually is asleep under that blue blanket.

Now he insists on "tucking it in" -- he tucks his blanket way down under the covers with him. It's so fun to watch his difference phases.

Big Boy Potty

I vowed to avoid potty training until Johnny was 3 - or 4 -or maybe even 5. Diapers are just so darn convenient, and I've heard so many horror stories about potty training. I figured I'd wait until he wanted to do it himself.

Well, despite my best efforts to postpone it, my little boy is growing up. He is asking to use the potty now, and even went #1 a few weeks ago! I was so excited you'd think I'd won the lottery! I had no idea I would find it so exciting. So, the next day we went out and bought him a potty! And, as most of you experienced mothers probably expected, he hasn't gone again since. But that's ok. I'm not going to push it. He sits in on it almost every day, whenever he asks. I'm sure he'll tire of diapers eventually.
