It’s been a while since I’ve been in my crafty corner.  So today my mojo got inspired by 3 challenges:

Less is More #374 “Bits Box”  Color Throwdown #499  & CAS Colours & Sketches #278
    

The yellow embossed Memory Box branch & the gelli plate blue print of Alexandra Renke Magic Blossom dies were both in my UFO box (Less is More).  So I grabbed 110lb card stock and cut it to make a top folding card.  Then I used a Sizzix Mix Media #4 to create the diagonal bottom for the #278 Sketch Challenge.  Since I needed green (Color Throwdown) and a rectangle (CAS Colours & Sketches), I used my Mark It Alcohol markers to create a green vellum piece.  I assembled the card together and gave the vellum a spritz of 99% Alcohol to get the spotty appearance.  A quick card with no fuss.

Welcome back to the June CAS Mix Up challenge using embossing powders!  There’s more inspiration to be found with our creative Design Team PLUS VIDEOS to help you through this technique.

For this card I die cut a large feather in thick card stock and place this onto a non-stick craft sheet and my electric fondu plate.  I added various green embossing powders and once cooled off, using Versamark, I stamped the feather with an old Lawn Fawn Interlocking Backdrop chevron stamp.  This time I added gold embossing powder and heat embossed with my heat gun.  Using my crimpler, I diagonally dry embossed one corner of my card panel and cut it slightly smaller than my card base.  Gold thread was wrapped around the end of the feather and was adhered to the panel.  “Il était une fois” (Once upon a time) was stamped at the opposite corner and heat embossed using one of the greens in the feather.

A little pearly pastel coucou! card for a dear friend.  I guess you captured the puzzle theme.  Before die cutting my puzzle pieces (a die from Frantic Stampers), I added pearlescent medium on my coral, aqua, yellow, and green card stock.  While this dried, I stamped my card base with the an IO background puzzle stamp and heat embossed the silver pearl powder.  Using a Technique Tuesday Marquee label die, I stamped in broken china oxide distress ink “coucou!” and clear heat embossed.  The five puzzle pieces were also clear heat embossed before assembling together and embellished with pearls.  The inspiration for this card came from three challenges:

“Au meilleur des Papas” …to the best of Dads 😀  I know, Father’s Day is this Sunday, and this is the last minute.  I must say the CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge #276 definitely inspired this card.   I made a stencil out of the Sizzix Mixed Media #4 brick thinlit.  I then applied a thick layer of modelling paste, removed the stencil and add a little bit of black, copper, silver, gold and yellow embossing powders.  While still not dry, I heat embossed and got this rocky texture.  I nearly stamped “Daddy Rocks” on the black card stock, but my daughter preferred, to the best of Dads, after all, it is her dad 😉  So silver thread and a shiny red heat embossed heart were pasted on top and the card was done.  HAPPY FATHER’S DAY to all you great DADs out there!

So happy, my card was a winner Callenge #276 at CAS Colours & Sketches, a WARM THANKS for the recognition 😀

LAYERED Embossing Powders at CAS Mix Up, I mean this technique can really get addictive 😛  I started by adding gold modelling paste onto my card base with the Tim Holtz Holiday Knit stencil.  While it dried, I die cut a black piece of card stock, added clear Wink of Stella and clear heat embossed 3 times.  Trying my good friend Mac’s approach, while the EP was still hot, I stamped “Merry Christmas” inked up with Delicate Gold Pigment Ink.  To seal the gold inked sentiment, I added another layer of  clear EP.  A gold string was threaded through one of the perforated edges, looped and glued to my card base.  Three black enamel dots were added as an embellishment.  Don’t forget to pop over, the Design Team and videos will certainly inspire you.

Two challenges for a beautiful Sunday morning.  Using the Color Throwdown Challenge #496 along with the Less is More Friendship theme #373 I went for this card.  I die cut a Pinkfresh Studio Floral Frame in black card stock and adhered it to a piece of vellum tinted with an aqua Mark-It marker sprayed with 99% Isopropyl alcohol.  Then I dry embossed the card base with a Alexandra Renke labyrinth folder.  I tied an aqua twine around the flower stem, adding floral sequins and beads.  A “friends” black tag was heat embossed in white (stamp from Technique Tuesdays).   Tonic white blizzard Nuvo glitter drops were added to the petals for extra shimmer.

Two challenges: TIME OUT Challenge #111 & CAS(e) this Sketch #275. One layer cards are truly a big challenge for me.  I just seem to make it more complicated always by wanting to give the card dimension.  I started by masking the strip and circle and proceeded to create a bokeh pattern with a stencil using two different greys (Fiskars & Memento).  Since this was to be a Christmas card, I added some shine by heat embossing with clear shimmer EP.   I removed the masks and added another poinsettia stencil  created with The Lavish Poinsettia dies by Tattered Lace.  The Versamark pad was pressed in the larger poinsettia aperture and heat embossed with a raspberry EP.  The smaller poinsettia is molding paste with the same powder and heat embossed before it dried.  A second coat of silver and a third coat of rasberry EPs were heated.  “C’est Noël” (It’s Christmas) was silver heat embossed twice.  Liquid Pearls were added for the stamen along with a little glitter.  White gel pen and micron dark purple were drawn in to add more dimension.  Finally a fine line was added on the left side and heat embossed in silver to give balance.  Hope you enjoy, thanks so much for stopping by, HUGz, Joanna

A quick, colourful, fun Birthday card, for all ages 😀 made for the Memory Box Rainbow Color Challenge #38!  I die cut the Memory Box Distressed Wyndham Collage on a white card base.  Then on a separate card stock I Copic Coloured a rainbow  and used the same Memory Box die.  Adding Sookwang tape on the opposite side of my card base, I then placed the die with the coloured rainbow pieces still in the die, and poked each piece into place.  Always happy when this works 😉   With the left over Copic coloured paper I die cut and adhered the word die “Bonne Fête” (Happy Birthday) which was clear heat embossed twice.

Playing with LAYERED Embossing Powders is the theme this month at CAS Mix Up!  On thick card stock I die-cut SSS Whimsical Flowers.  The darker flower has a glued layer of teal card stock to which I added Wink of Stella before adding 2 layers of UTEE with my heat gun.  The white flower has several layers of white embossing powder, then using Jennifer McGuire’s technique, I added 2 different blue colours of Tombow Brushes and finished off with a layer of clear EP.  I die-cut the leaves out of aqua card stock and stamped an IO scratches stamp with Versamark, heat embossing with white EP.  There are several videos and inspiration to be found on the blog, all worth giving a try.
