2050. Huge A3+ notes

This 2050 project has many arms, in many directions, and that's fascinating. I often just let me go with the flow of new ideas. In this case I started to take some notes in this A3 paper which ended up like that. It offers a kind of overview much wider than the pages of a notebook. 

Definitely not useful as a pocket notes to take them everywhere (airplanes, cafes for intellectual people, crowded metro, etc).

2050 notes

Only indigo for these figures. Creating new characters is magical. They are in form of a blurred idea in your mind and minutes later they are so real in front of your eyes. Fascinating!

A3+ sheet of sketches (2050)

Notes in large sheet (A3+). I’m too used to my pocket size notebooks (9x14cm) and this is being quite challenging. I saw a huge empty ocean when starting to draw.

2050 proyect’s core is about worldbuilding and notes in different formats is the perfect approach. Fascinating and extremely exciting.

Then later… one day, my trained monkey assistant will compile all these notes and will polish the final result in beautiful drawings, which is a secondary goal.

Miho Bot

What an enigmatic character. She has a lot to say in 2050 story.

I’m fascinated to see how my little characters evolve 🎈And this is a special one: Miho Bot, the narrator of the story.

But don’t fall in love too soon since she is neither human nor even made of flesh and bones. She is a subroutine. AI created her in 2050 as a kind of archeologist to manage some difficult information left by humans. The only way to understand what people wanted to express in some artwork is using a digital human model with same feelings and behaviour than real humans. Miho Bot is so cute and friendly because she was designed to understand and eventually interact with people.

When she was 19 min old she already reached professional archeologist skills. 23 min later she organized and catalogued the whole notes collection by enigmatic Coconut Monk. So it’s time for she to release and introduce those notes to sharp listeners. However in this step she is forced to use language, a primitive and extremely slow way of communication. Anyways she is happy to do it (she is programmed for that), smile, patience x1000 and no hurry.

Unexpected evolution

Oh, evolution... It continues after humans’ presence on Earth and it could use tools they left, maybe.

I can't wait to see what modifications TV brings to them.

Hacker's room

 

Hackers will play a key roll in the near future. But this is a topic to talk about in deep in another post.

At the moment I'm happy with the chosen colors and design of this particular hacker nest, with intricate details in everywhere.

This is part of a future project about 2050 cards.

Mutant Ladybugs

Evolution finds unexpected ways. Maybe in other worlds ladybugs pollinate mammoths. 

These particular kind of ladybugs flight at Mach 0.8 and they could mutate at will to reach Mach 3. Nothing is weird enough in the development of life.

I did the second print test to see how both a new case and back of the cards look like. See the first print test here.

The result is quite visual.

Still working a lot to develop the cards. Many new ideas and details to polish. I think the number of card will be increased from my original plan of 64 to 100.

 

The pill

In the right page there is something will happen for sure. A new drug with high addiction properties irresistible for everyone, included the ones who create the law and the ones who own the factories. Once the brain is know in detail, a custom drug can be designed. In this scenario maybe a group of humans don't react to the drug's effects and they could take the power in the middle of the chaos.

Mass consume. People control become even more easy. They will always need more and if you need something, that thing owns you.

Omnispero

Eventually humans will discover they live in a simulation. 

The scientist proof of that will come later. First the creator of such simulation will appear in different ways. For example through dreams. Of course humans are far to understand even a part of its complexity. They are just primates with a brain in the first stages of development. However they can feel and they will perceive the creator existence translated into forms they know: animals, familiar shapes, etc. 

Same as an artist leaves a part of himself in his artwork, the creator leaves its signature in its creation.

In the last years several people without connection between each other had the same dream. They describe the same kind of being. Someone took the time to draw it. A mock-up of that is the following image:

Named as Omnispero, it could be the bridge between the reality and our simulated existence. He has the power to imagine and create. We are its creation and that's our reality.

Below the first and second version of Omnispero. 

Once the idea is there, ingenious scientist found the way to rigorously demonstrate in fact we live in a simulation. 

But that belong to another card and story. I just tell in advance the paradox: Advanced civilizations could develop the ability to create simulations. Humans do it now in basic and limited video games. Later they will do it better and faster. Thousands of simulations running in each computer, each one with its own beings. That means the number of simulations is far, far higher than the number of "real" worlds.

2050, The Last Days of Mankind.

New beings

Creating new beings in one of the best superpowers. Just a pen, paper and imagination needed.

I want to believe they exist in a real planet somewhere. An expedition found these fantasy creations and they are trying to find out how they work.

Fashion (for head) in 2050

I’d wonder how the near future will be in many areas. Today I'm doing a prediction about which will be the dominant aesthetic in 2050 just before the Singularity arrives. 

One thing I know for sure: Everyone will be bald. I meant bald like a light bulb. Bald will be so sexy and irresistible. It is also needed to keep brain implants with easy access. Humans will still be trapped by tribal inertia and they will mix the new technology with body ornaments, tattoos, etc.

The way interface brain-computer is made will define the rest of the things. Neuralink proposes a solution with permanent implants inside the brain but removable batteries and software somewhere outside the skull. Additional hardware like VR glasses or other devices will very usual and in many ways.

Cards. Work in progress

Working, or better said, having fun with the design of the new cards. Still a few main ideas to develop and endless details to polish.

Little new project

I found a deck of cards as a great support to create a new universe. It allows the representation of a fantasy world with just a pieces of cardboard. For example, the creatures come to life from nothing and they have their own ID which is the card. Think about it, magical.

After discarding the possibility of a board game I'm developing a kind of "collection of aesthetic cards". The area for an illustration or photo is huge. On top of that the combination with a little text adds a new dimension.

I'm enjoying a lot designing a big number of cards. It's fun and relaxing activity. I don't want to set any barrier. Creativity should flow with freedom. No commission, no deadlines, no limitations. After that I will (hopefully) find the way to organice everything.

Taking care of the colors, frame, typography (I use my dear Olympia typewriter font), composition and every detail part of the enjoyable process. Now I can have this first test in my hands. The cards are REAL. Still a lot to do. This is just a draft. I even made the box. I will create many more cards and improve everything.

And what is this about? Well, at the moment I will say it's a story-prediction based in a near future, year 2050. And those are the years, months or maybe just hours before the singularity. The last days of mankind.

Watercolors to illustrate a future deck

I'm doing some watercolors in order to illustrate several cards of a future deck. I chose a new watercolor paper brand Hakuho. Experiment. The first feeling was not very positive but the second day of use I discovered how magical its texture is. See some close up to appreciate it.

More fantasy creatures come to life. They enrich the atmosphere for the story to tell. Definitely more interesting than the real world.

Encapsulated Thunderbolt

2050. Some years ago a capsule with a huge thunderbolt inside was found in a lake in the Earth. Some people say they saw a big eagle flying with the capsule in its claws. People often say crazy things but also they see even more incredible events.

Despite its origin, the capsule is now one of the main energy supply. Engineers and tax employees worked hard in order to juice the energy to satisfy hungry customers. Actually they don't understand well the mechanism inside but taking each volt from it is enough.

Something like free energy. 500MT can cover the waste of energy for an average wester family.
