December Daily, days 19 & 20, featuring Hip Kit Club

Hello friends!  Today I’m sharing a couple more pages in my 2019 December Documented album.  I’m still using my Hip Kit Club December Documented kit, and this is my first time using the new December 2019 kits.  I will most likely keep using some pieces of my November 2019 kits, because I want to keep my album cohesive, but I’m loving how all these kits go together so well!  

In my previous assignments, I had mentioned that I am behind, and working out of order, but I am so pleased that I’m making some progress on my DD album!  I am sharing days 19 & 20 today.

I was challenged to use some of my favorite products, and I have to say that I have been loving the number stamp set in the DD kit, the journaling cards, and the build a scene bits ephemera pack (white diecuts).  

For day 19, I am documenting some very special happy mail that I got all the way from Denmark.  (Thank you again Hanne!)

On the left side, I have a full size photo that I cut into a tag.  I made a 19 date tag with the number stamp set, and put a gold ribbon through the tags.

On the left side, I made a double pocket page using a Crate Paper pattern paper from the December Main kit, and some velum.  I filled my pockets with some of the packaging from the chocolate boxes that my friend sent me, as well as a photo strip, and my journaling.  I used a 4×6 journaling card from the December PL kit.  I carefully peeled off the stamps from the package, and adhered it to my journaling card, so it looks like a postcard!

For Day 20, I documented my middle daughter’s holiday party at school.

On the left side, I used the pretty pink plaid pattern paper from Pretty Little Studio (from the Dec 2019 Main kit).  I made a little embellishment banner using some really cute items.  I mad a number date tag, I used one of the snowflakes from the build a scene ephemera pack, I used a few Pinkfresh Studio stickers (from the DD kit), and I fussy cut some pieces from the Crate Paper cut apart pattern paper (from the Dec Main kit).  I really love how this one turned out!  The little gingerbread man is a HKC exclusive from the ephemera pack (Nov kit).

On the other side, I did a 4 3×4 pocket page spread.  I have a 2 photos, and 2 journaling cards.

December Daily 2019, day 12, featuring Hip Kit Club

Hey friends! I’m back with another December Daily 2019 post. I am using a combination of the Hip Kit Club 2019 December Documented kit and the November kits.  

As I mentioned in my last DD blog post, I am a bit behind on my DD album this year, and I’m working out of order. Today, I’m sharing my day 12.

I filmed a process video on my YT channel if you’re interested:

On the 12th, I was feeling pretty strongly with Mom Guilt. I had been looking through previous DD albums, and I commented on my daughters’ cute crafty projects. I also noted that I hadn’t really done anything like that with my youngest daughter yet, so I decided to give her some one-on-one time. I already had a holiday necklace kit that I bought a couple weeks ago, so she got to make the necklace, with minor help from me, and we made a paper pieced Christmas tree. It was her first time using scissors, so she was extra excited! Not only was she excited to cut and glue, but I got to keep the end result for my album, lol!

I wanted to stick her craft project right into my album, so you can feel the texture. I needed something to back the project with, and at first, I was considering a pattern paper, but I decided to make my own by stamping with the HKC exclusive stamp set from the November 2019 PL kit.

I also needed a place for my number, so I stamped 12 with the number stamp set from the HKC DD kit on a HKC exclusive journaling card, and heat embossed it with the gold embossing powder that came in the DD festive color kit. I added a HKC exclusive puffy sticker sentiment, and then I diecut it with a tag die.

The ink I used is AE Rose Garden, and the tag I used is the Pinkfresh Studio Fillable tag with pocket die set.

On the left side, I have a full page photo of my daughter proudly sporting her new necklace. I wanted to add just a little something, so I used the HKC exclusive puffy stickers, and put the word MERRY at the top.

Once you flip the number insert, you’ll see my daughter’s tree craft on the left, and more photos and my journaling on the right.

I just love how clean and simple it looks…just my style! I used a HKC exclusive journaling card to write my journaling. I also added a chipboard banner sticker to the 4×6 photo.

I love how my day 12 spread turned out! I also love that I was able to incorporate my love for stamping into my DD album.

I hope I’ve inspired you to work on your DD album as well. If you’re right on track, that’s awesome, but don’t worry if you’re behind…I’m right there with you, ha!

I can’t believe Christmas is in just 5 days! I’m not ready, haha!

December Daily 2019, days 1 & 7

Hi friends!  Today I’m sharing a couple spreads from my December Daily album.  I am using a combination of the Hip Kit Club 2019 December Documented kit and the November kits.  

I have to admit that it’s been slow going with my DD album so far this year.  I have been incredibly indecisive, and have been making rookie mistakes (like punching holes on the wrong side of the paper), BUT I have my Day 1 and Day 7 to share with you today, and I have to say that I love the way they turned out!

I was challenged to use vellum or acetate on my layout.  When I saw the snowflake acetate in the DD kit, I knew it was perfect for my Day 1 spread.  We went to go see Frozen II on December 1st.  I used the HKC exclusive pink pattern paper (from the November Main kit), and trimmed it down to about 4 1/2 x 8 in as a base for my pocket page.  I trimmed down the snowflake acetate to about 5 x 4 1/2 in, scored 1/4 in from each side and the bottom, then folded and adhered them behind the pink pattern paper.  

This is actually the 2nd pocket page that I made.  The first one had most of the pretty snowflakes, but I punched the holes on the left side out of habit, instead of the right side.  I still had enough acetate to make it again though, with one sparkly snowflake.  

Since it’s clear acetate, it’s hard to tell that there’s a pocket in the photographs, but if you look closely, the acetate makes the pink pattern paper look darker.  (My acetate goes up to right under the first set of holes.)  I filled it with photos from a photobooth they had at the theatre, a copy of our digital tickets, a photo of the movie poster, and a journaling card.  I typed up my journaling on a 4 x 6 card from the November Pocket Life kit, trimmed it down a little, then added a ribbon tab.  (The ribbon is included in the DD kit.)

For the other side of my Day 1 spread, I documented my husband and girls putting up the Christmas lights on the house.

If you watched my previous video on my YT channel, I had made a different spread for day 1, but I mentioned that it would probably change since I pre-filmed.  I made the number 1 tag on that video, so I’m reusing it on this page.  I used the HKC exclusive stamp set from the DD kit, and gold embossing powder from the DD Festive Color kit to make my tag.  I put the tag on a different PL card.  This snowflake card was a 3 x 8 card that I cut it half.  I thought it tied in both sides of the spread perfectly with the snowflakes and colors.

For my Day 7, I documented a crafty movie night with my 2 younger girls:

On the left side, I hand wrote my journaling on a PL card.  I love the cards with lines on them… I can never keep my handwriting straight, haha!  I added the sticker from Pinkfresh Studio, and added a little machine stitching.  I also printed out another movie poster from the movie we watched: Abominable.  It was really cute!

On the right side, I kept it pretty simple with two 4 x 6 photos.  I put the 3 photos together in photoshop for the top image, but you could just trim your photos and glue them to a piece of cardstock or 4 x 6 card.  To the top of this photo, I added a little bit of washi tape, with a gold scalloped pattern on it (it was from a Hip Kit earlier this year), and a Pinkfresh Studio sticker.

I created another number tag, just like I made for day 1, for day 7.

I hope you like the way my DD spreads turned out.  I love how clean and graphic my pages turned out.  I mentioned at the beginning of my post that I was having a hard time starting my DD album.  I think I was trying to push myself to use all.the.things.  I’ve seen lots of beautiful spreads with lots of product on them, but it’s just not my style.  Once I let myself be minimalistic with embellishments, I loved the end result.  I know it’s so easy to get caught up in the comparison game, but you have to stay true to your own style.

3 cards, featuring Spellbinders December Large DOM

Hello friends!  Today I’m sharing 3 cards that I made using the Spellbinders December 2019 Large Die of the Month kit (DOM) called Kaleidoscope Trio Strips and Borders. I also used the add on called Kaleidoscope Petal Dies to make another card.

Included in the December Large Die of the Month is 12 dies, and I put together each of the dies to show you what they look like:

For my first card, I used the floral looking dies to create a rainbow birthday card.

I used the tone on tone technique to create 2 layers of the floral images, and placed them diagonally on a piece of white cardstock trimmed to 4 x 5 1/4 in.

For the Birthday Wishes sentiment on my card, I used the Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil Machine, and my favorite Everyday Sentiments II hot plate set.

I finished off the card with a dot of liquid pearls in the center of each of the flowers.

For my next card, I used the heart looking border. I also used a few pieces from the Spellbinders Merry Everything Christmas kit.

I used the dies to create a 3 layer border from pink and red cardstock. I also used oe of the separate pieces of the die to cut the bottom half of the border on the red card base as well.

The pattern paper, Love glitter stickers and the jewels are all from the Merry Everything Christmas kit. (This card also shows you that you can make non-holiday cards using this Christmas kit.) The From All of Us sentiment is from last month’s Glimmer of the Month kit called Shimmering Merry Christmas Sentiments, but is still available for purchase here.

For my 3rd card, I used the Kaleidoscope petals.

I really love a clean white card, so I decided to cut all the pieces with white cardstock. I layered them and arranged them in a star/floral shape. In all white, I thought that it looked like a snowflake, so I decided to make this one a holiday card.

I adhered it to a square card base, then added my sentiment (which is from the same Shimmering Merry Christmas sentiments). I finished this card off with a few sequins (they are FSJ Starry Night sequins, if you’re interested).

I hope you enjoyed my cards. The holidays are such a busy time, so I didn’t get a chance to film a process video this time.

Pinkfresh Studio Essentials 3 Release Blog Hop

I am always happy to participate in an Essentials Release blog hop, because these dies are some that I can use over and over again on any project. Here is what I created for the blog hop.

I created 2 cards and 6 tags for this release.

For my first project, I made a holiday card. As soon as I saw the fancy diagonal stripes die, I immediately thought of a candy cane. I diecut the diagonal stripes from red cardstock. Since it is A2 sized, I glued it to a white card base, and immediately, I have a holiday background.

I wanted to create a framed scene, so I used the diagonal stitched squares die set, and I chose the 2 middle sized squares to diecut a frame from brown cardstock. I diecut it 3 times, then glued them on top of each other. I wanted the frame to look like a wood frame, so I used a brown Copic marker to add some shading. Next, I stamped and Copic colored the houses from the Home for the Holidays stamp set. Then I fussy cut it out, and set it aside. On a separate piece of white cardstock, I used a couple Distress Oxide inks to ink blend a background. Once fully dry, I white heat embossed some snowflakes from the same stamp set onto the background. I also drew on some snow with a white gel pen. I glued the frame on top of the blended background, then trimmed off the excess. Next, I adhered the houses in the frame with foam tape, and then glued the framed piece to the red and white striped card base. To finish off my card, I stamped the “wishing you merry days” sentiment from the Merry Days stamp set on a white cardstock strip, and adhered it to the card.

For my next card, I really wanted to use the radiating background 1 die.

I really love to use white cardstock for clean and graphic looks; I die cut the radiating background from white cardstock, and I glued it to an A2 sized card base. I stamped and Copic colored the images from the Floral Vase stamp set. I was going for a winter bouquet in a concrete vase. (I really love how my vase turned out!) I diecut the images with the coordinating die set. I adhered the vase, flowers, and bow to the background with foam tape. I white heat embossed the “joy and love” sentiment on a strip of black cardstock, and adhered it with more foam tape. To finish off my card, I added some clear crystals.

For my next project, I really thought the teardrop tag with fillable elements die set looked really cool, so I thought I would make each of the tags in the set.

I decided to make the tags tone on tone in color, and each one a little different. For the pink tag, I glued the cut out piece right onto the background piece, for the yellow tag, I adhered the cut out piece with foam tape, for the green tag, I decided to make a shaker, and for the red tag, I diecut the cutout piece 2 times and glued them on top of each other. For the sentiments, I used the Delicate Wreath stamp set. I left the red one without a sentiment, because I’m thinking of using it in my December Daily album, so I can add a number.

For my final tags, I used the fillable tag with pocket dies.

I decided to create another tag for my December Daily album. I tried to match some of the colors in my album. I diecut the tag from light blue cardstock, the hole reinforcer with red cardstock, and the pocket piece with vellum. I added a number 5 puffy sticker from the Everyday Musings collection, and some red and white twine. I also made a plain red tag with a light blue hole reinforcer.

I love how my cards and tags turned out, and I hope you do too!  I absolutely love the dies in this Essentials 3 Release.

A holiday ornament card, featuring Spellbinders December 2019 GOM

Hello friends!  Today I’m sharing a Holiday ornament card that I created with the December 2019 Glimmer Hot Foil of the Month (GOM), called Perfect Fit Hexagon Strips.

This month’s kit comes with 4 glimmer plates and 4 pieces of coordinating dies. It also comes with one roll of Aura foil. The glimmer plates that end with a full hexagon are the A plates, and coordinate with the A dies. The plates that end with a half of a hexagon are the B plates, and coordinate with the B dies. There are tiny letters at one end of the dies to let you know which are As and Bs.

I started by choosing red, green, and blue cardstock, then cutting them into strips. I hot foiled the hexagon designs using my Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil system. Once I had at least 2 good foiled pieces for each color, I used the coordinating dies and my Spellbinders Platinum 6 die cutting machine to diecut them.

I glued the hexagon strips to a piece of scrap cardstock. On a separate piece of white cardstock that I trimmed to slightly less than A2 sized, I diecut a big circle using a die from the Nestabilites standard circle die set. I adhered the diecut white panel onto of the hexagon strip background to create dimension and interest with foam tape. Next, I tied a bow onto the card with red and white twine, and all of the sudden my diecut circle is now an ornament. I also added a Merry Christmas sentient, which is from the Nov 2019 GOM called Merry Christmas sentiments. I cut it into a small strip and adhered it with foam tape. To finish off my card, I added some clear glitter Nuvo crystal drops.

December Daily 2019 cover page & Day 1, featuring Hip Kit Club

Hi friends! I’m so excited to be sharing a December Daily post! I am using the Hip Kit Club December Documented kits, as well as the November 2019 kits. I am sharing my Cover page, and my Day 1.

For my cover page, I started with the cutfile. I used my silhouette machine to cut Merry Christmas 3 times from black cardstock. The cut file is a Hip Kit Club exclusive, and can be found on their website. I glued the 3 right on top of each other, creating my own chipboard piece.

I trimmed down a piece of white cardstock to 6×8, then added wonky circles with my sewing machine. Next, I stamped the 2019, using the HKC exclusive stamp set included in the DD kit. I glued on the Merry Christmas cutfile, then added a few stars.

For my Day 1, I decided to write the story about how I was so excited to shop for and decorate our new hutch. I love collecting these tiny houses, and I love the little scene that I created.

Since I had to pre-film my video before December started, I chose this as my Day 1, but this story might get moved to Day 2. We took the girls to watch Frozen II on Sunday Dec 1, so that will be the story of Day 1.

So I chose the page protector with one 4×6 spots and 2 3×4 spots since I already had the 4×6 photo printed. I chose the “shine bright” journaling card from the DD kit, and printed my journaling on it. For the other journaling card, I chose the periwinkle card with tiny white stars. I made the little 1 ta, by heat embossing with gold embossing powder, and using the 1 stamp from the HKC exclusive stamp set. I also used the red Lindy’s powder to make that floral star red.

For the other side, I trimmed down the light blue cardstock from the CS kit to 6×8, and then used on of the HKC exclusive stencils from the DD kit and texture paste, leaving me with textured white stars. I really loved the houses in the ephemera pack. You can leave them white as is, or you can add mixed media to them (like I did to the floral star). I machine stitched through the big house, and popped the other 2 up with foam squares.

I am so excited with how my pages turned out! This is my 10th album, and I am still loving this project. I hope you like my pages as well. If you’re interested in my other DD pages, just click on the December Daily category or tag, or search it on my blog.

2 festive layouts, featuring Pinkfresh Studio’s Home for the Holidays

Hello friends!  It’s Jung here, and today I’m sharing 2 festive scrapbook layouts that I created using the Home for the Holidays collection.  Since I do a December Daily album every year, there is a lack of holiday layouts in my traditional albums.  There were so many photos and stories that I could have made layouts for, but I chose 2 older memories to put down on paper.

For my first layout, I used one of the exclusive cutfiles from Pinkfresh Studio.  It’s called Christmas tree, and it coordinates beautifully with the Home for the Holidays collection.

I enlarged the cutfile, then backed it with 2 pattern papers.  I used the Merry & Bright paper for the green, and the Peace & Love paper for the red.  First I traced and cut out all the pieces, but before gluing them, I wanted to add a bit of shading detail with ink.  The inks that I used were the Pinkfresh Studio Passion Fruit for the red and Emerald City for the green.  After I was done backing the cutfile, I used foam squares to adhere it to my background paper (I used the Peace & Love paper for the background as well).  

I added my photostrip to the background with more foam tape.  These photos make me laugh.  They are from a few years ago; our elf decided to put himself in a jar so the girls could pick him up and carry him around without touching him.  My middle daughter loved it!  I wanted to do a little photoshoot, so I had all my daughter put their matching elf pjs on.  Baby girl got the lid open, and the look on my middle girls face was priceless!  Haha!

Next, I added my title using the white puffy alphas.  I wrote my journaling on one of the ephemera pieces, and adhered it to the layout with machine stitching.  

To finish off my layout, I added some red enamel dots, some present under the tree, and a few snowflakes around my photo.  Two of them are fussy cut from the Holiday Gifts pattern paper, and the other one is a puffy sticker.  I also added a corner cut of the Home for the Holidays pattern paper to the upper right corner to balance the left side of my layout.  

I love the bold a playful statement that the big Christmas tree makes on my layout!

For my next layout, I decided to jump on the hexagon trend.  I have a hexagon punch, and I used it to punch hexagons from several of the pattern papers in this collection. 

I wanted a little bit of color on my white background, so I used some Pinkfresh watercolors to add splatters in coordinating red, blue, and yellow.  I used Candy Apple, Sunshine, and Sapphire.  I also used the green ink pads in the Garden Stroll mini ink cube pack, and the tiny snowflake stamps in the Home for the Holiday stamp set to add green to my layout.

I adhered the hexagons to my layout toward the middle and left side.  I also left a few spots open, and hand stitched the hexagon shape.  Next I added machine stitching to most of the hexagons. 

I adhered my photos with foam squares.  The photos of my daughters were when they danced in the Nutcracker Ballet a few years ago.  They looks so cute in their costumes! 

I added my title using the same white puffy alphas, and then added journaling strips that I typed on my typewriter.  

To embellish my layout, I added a few ephemera pieces to the left of my photos along with 3 red enamel dots.  I also added a few ribbon words that I fussy cut from the Peace & Love pattern paper.  Finally, I added 3 stars that I punched from red cardstock.
