Hello friends! Today I’m sharing my last project for Hip Kit Club (for now at least). I have just been feeling overwhelmed with my schedule, especially with 3 girls, so I needed a little break. Hopefully, Kimberly will have me back on the team when I am ready.
For my layout, I was challenged to use a cutfile. I used the HKC February 2020 subscriber cutfile called Floral Heart. You can find it on the HKC website. I used my January 2020 Hip Kits for this layout.
I cut the cutfile with white cardstock. I really loved the variety of flowers on the cutfile, so I wanted to highlight that. I left some of the flowers white and open, I painted some of the flowers with light pink, and I backed a few of the flowers with pattern paper.
I chose the shimmery blue cardstock for the background, because it matched my 2nd daughters dress. In fact, my entire layout seems to match her dress, LOL!
The photo is from a wedding that we recently went to. The wedding was beautiful, and my girlies looked so cute!
Since the cutfile is big and pretty busy, I didn’t want to overwhelm the layout with too many embellishments. I backed my photo with a couple pattern paper layers, then adhered it to the layout with foam tape. I embellished with just a few Pinkfresh Studio floral ephemera, and a small “adore” puffy title.
I really love how this layout turned out, and I hope I’ve inspired you to use a cutfile on your next layout.
Hello friends! Today I’m sharing 3 cards that I made using the January 2020 Hip Kit Club kits.
I filmed a process video for my YT channel (junglebarrya):
I thought it would be fun to show how I used pieces that I had left over from other projects to make these cards.
For the first card, I used the left over rainbow from the Pinkfresh Studio pattern paper to create a St. Patrick’s Day card.
I added lots of texture with machine stitching, rough edges, and dimension.
Here is the layout that I had the leftover rainbow pieces from:
For my next card, I actually made a mistake by not cutting off the branding strip on the cardstock before trimming my cardbase. I ended up trimming off the card base to one side so that the inside of the card shows a little bit. I filled the inside with the blue constellation pattern paper.
I had leftover layered stitched hearts, so I used those on this card. The sentiments are from the Pinkfresh Studio ephemera pack.
Here is the layout I had the leftover layered hearts from:
For the final card, I decided to make a bow from Pinkfresh Studio. I demonstrate how to make a bow in the video, if you’re unsure.
I decided to keep this one clean and simple. I used a Pinkfresh Studio pattern paper for my background, and since it’s pretty busy, I added a sentiment, a bow, and a few glittered enamel dots.
I’m so thrilled with how my cards turned out, and I hope I’ve inspired you to use some of your scrappy leftovers to make some cute cards!
I created a layout using the awesome January 2020 Hip Kits for the Hip Kit Club weekly challenge. This week’s challenge is a recipe challenge. The recipe includes: layered hearts, stitching, frame, black & white accent, sparkle, and fussy cutting. I managed to include all of the recipe “ingredients,” as well as a HKC exclusive cut file.
I started out by cutting the heart background HKC subscriber cut file out of white cardstock. I just wanted a little bit of texture on my layout, so I kept it tone on tone, and I glued the center portions straight to the cardstock. I also ripped one side of the cardstock, and added a black & white striped pattern paper border to the right. Next, I worked on the recipe items.
I had some layered hearts left over from one of my previous layouts, but I did make one more. I also fussy cut some of the speech bubbles from a Pinkfresh Studio pattern paper.
I added my photo, backed by some PFS pattern paper and a HKC exclusive 4×6 card. I also tucked in 2 PFS chipboard frames.
For the sparkle, I chose a glittery title from the Pink Paislee thickers sheet. I also added a few glitter enamel hearts.
I love how this layout turned out, and I hope you’ll play along with our recipe challenge!
Hello friends! I’m back with 2 more artsy cards featuring Spellbinders’ Large Die of the Month kit (DOM) called Art Studio Abstracts. I absolutely love the February dies! I made 2 5×7 cards with this kit:
The kit includes 14 dies. Some of the dies diecut multiple shapes, so you get 19 shapes, and 3 of the dies diecut patterns. There are so many ways you can use these dies for variety. You’ll be able to see that, especially on my second card. I really love the creative freedom you get with these abstract art pieces.
For my first card, I just used one of the dies repeatedly, the one shaped like a rainbow. This is one of the dies that diecuts 2 shapes. I diecut the rainbow with different colored cardstocks in my stash using my Spellbinders Platinum 6 die cutting machine. I arranged them on a 4 1/2 by 6 1/2 in white cardstock panel. I adhered them on the panel in rainbow order with different width foam tape.
For my next card, I decided to use every single die in the kit. I used the same color cardstocks, as well as a few more. I diecut some of the dies with the texture cut out, and then glued a solid die in the same shape in a darker color right underneath. On some of the shapes, I layered another diecut piece on top for even more variety. I also used different thicknesses of foam tape to add interest.
I used the same sentiment sent along with my glimmer foils system for my sentiment. I used the pink foil for this sentiment. To add even more artsy texture, I used a white gel pen to add dots and stripes.
I absolutely love how these cards turned out! After I made the rainbow card, I didn’t think I’d make something that I could like as much, but I might like the second card more! What do you think? Which do you like?
I love the way these artsy cards turned out, and I hope you do too. Don’t forget to check out the Spellbinders site for all this Large Die of the Month!
Hello friends! Today I’m sharing 2 cards that I created with the February 2020 Glimmer Hot Foil of the Month (GOM), called Art Studio Glimmer.
The January 2020 GOM includes 3 hot foil plates and 3 cutting dies. It also includes a gold foil roll. You can mix and match the glimmer plates with the different sized cutting dies. You can cover the entire diecut with the pattern, or you can diecut the shape with only a little part covered with the pattern. I made a couple of examples here:
For my first card, I used some of the pink and purple colors in the Jane Davenport Colorsticks in Silky Skin to lightly watercolor on a piece of white cardstock. Then I used the pattern glimmer plates to add some foiled pattern on my watercolor panel using my Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil system. I used pink and magenta foil rolls. I also pulled pink and purple cardstock scraps from my stash, and added the foiled patterns. Next, I used the 3 different sized dies to diecut from the patterns using my Spellbinders Platinum 6 die cutting machine.
I adhered the patterned diecuts to a gray cardstock panel using foam tape. For my sentiment, I used the pink foil and the Everyday Sentiments II glimmer hot foil plates. I just split the sentiment in half. To finish off the card, I added some enamel dots in coordinating pink and purple.
For my next card, I used the glimmer patterned diecuts from my example photo.
I wanted to add some interest to my background panel, so I used the metal plates to dry emboss a piece of white cardstock. I absolutely love the subtle texture of this background! Again, I adhered the diecuts with both glue and foam squares for dimension. I used another sentiment from the Everyday Sentiments II set, and then added enamel dots.
I love the way these artsy cards turned out, and I hope you do too. Don’t forget to check out the Spellbinders site for all these amazing products!
Hello friends! I’m on the Spellbinders blog today as a guest, and I am using the new Foiled Basics collection by Yana Smakula. The collection will go live on February 10, 2020. When I saw the products in this collection, I immediately knew I had to make a polka dot card; I love polka dots!
Today, I’m working with all the products from this collection. I am using the Polka Dot Strip, Yana’s Sentiments set, the Foliage Border set, and the Organic Foliage set.
For my first card, I wanted to showcase the polka dot strip. On a piece of light blue cardstock, I used my Glimmer Hot Foil System as well as the speckled prism hot foil to foil the polka dot pattern. I used the polka dot strip foil plate 3 times, lining it up, to create a full page of polkadots. I wanted to add a little more interest to the polka dot background, so I used a distress oxide ink, and ink blended to create a slight blue gradient. Next, I trimmed my polka dot background piece, and adhered it to a piece of navy blue cardstock to frame it out. On another piece of navy blue cardstock, I hot foiled the “Sending My Love” sentiment from Yana’s sentiment set, and the circle foil plate from the Foliage Border set. Then I used one of my Nestabilities Circle dies to die cut the circle. To put my card together, I used a white A2 sized card base, adhered the polka dot background, and then adhered the circle sentiment piece with foam squares. I added a silver glitter heart that I die cut, using a heart from a previous Spellbinders Large Die of the Month Kit (Festive Wreath Slider Card).
I decided to make a gift tag using similar colors and products as my first card. I used a light blue cardstock and sliver hot foil to foil the polka dot strip. I trimmed it into a tag shape, and punched a hole. I used silver foil, and the “Thank You” sentiment from Yana’s sentiment set on dark blue cardstock. Again, I trimmed it into a tag shape (slightly smaller) and punched a hole. Finally, I glued on a silver glitter die cut heart, and tied the 2 tags together.
For my next project, I created a more feminine card. I used the same “Sending My Love” sentiment and circle foil plate as the first card, but I decided to use Magenta foil and light pink cardstock. Again, I die cut the circle and then glued on a die cut glitter heart. Next, I set up the foliage plates on my glimmer machine in a vertical strip, keeping in mind the spacing. I foiled the foliage using the same Magenta foil on dark pink cardstock, and I repeated the pattern twice. I trimmed the foiled piece, and set it aside. On a piece of white cardstock, I used a few shades of pink distress inks to add a watercolor background. Once dry, I trimmed and glued it to an A2 sized white cardbase. I glued the foiled foliage strip to the left of the card, and then the circle sentiment on top with foam squares.
I really hope you like how my cards have turned out. I love the clean graphic vibe of these cards, and I think it allows the foiling elements to shine.
I hope I have inspired you to get crafty. Don’t forget to check out this awesome Foiled Basics release on the Spellbinders website. I really love Yana’s sentiment set; there are perfect sentiments for various occasions!
Hello friends! Today I’m sharing a layout that I created using the fabulous January 2020 Hip Kit Club kits. I was challenged to make a moodboard inspired layout, and I loved the rainbow image in the February moodboard… Also, all the hearts!
Here is what I created:
I started by fussy cutting the rainbow from a Pinkfresh Studio pattern paper, and I added lots of machine stitching in coordinating colors to add interest and texture. I chose the shimmery aqua colored cardstock for my background, and I added some white splatters. I adhered the rainbow with foam squares.
Then, I added my photo and title using the white puffy alpha stickers from Pinkfresh Studio. I hand wrote my journaling directly onto the rainbow.
I embellished with the heart lollipop sticker and glitter enamel hearts. I also fussy cut speech bubbles from another Pinkfresh Studio pattern paper, and adhered them to the layout.
I really love how my layout turned out…the photo of my daughter is one of my favorites! Haha! I hope I inspired you to get crafty, and don’t forget to check out the kits on the Hip Kit Club website!
Hello Pinkfresh Studio friends! I’m on the Pinkfresh Studio blog, and today I’m sharing 2 scrapbook layouts. I made another layout using the Super Cool collection, and a layout using the new Noteworthy collection.
First, I’ll start with the Noteworthy layout. (If you went to Creativation this year, you may have seen this layout hanging in the Pinkfresh Studio booth!)
I used the hexagon dies in the Basic label frames die set to die cut hexagons from most of the pattern papers in this collection. Next I arranged them and adhered them to a piece of pink cardstock. I wanted to have some interest and variety in the hexagons, so I layered different sized hexagons, I added some machine stitching, and I even hand stitched a few hexagons.
I added my 2 photos next. Can you believe the photos of my sister’s pup were taken only taken 6 months apart?!
I embellished the photos with a tag, some ephemera, and enamel dots. Next, I embellished some of the hexagons with some stickers, ephemera, and enamel dots.
This layout definitely took some time to create, but is well worth it. I love how it turned out!
For my next layout, I made another layout with the Super Cool collection. (You can see the first layout that I made for the Pinkfresh blog here.) This layout is perfect for teens, so I made a layout about my 13 year old.
I started off by fussy cutting the polaroid frames from the Hashtag pattern paper. Next I adhered some photos that I printed and trimmed with a white border using foam squares.
I softly ink blending on a piece of white cardstock. I used the mini ink cubes, and the colors that I used were sky blue, meadow, and sweet mustard. I also added some white splatters. Once dry, I arranged the polaroids, and machine stitched them in 2 banners. I added my title using the white puffy alpha from this collection. I absolutely love the font and the size of this alpha…definitely one of my favorites!!!
I finished my layout by embellishing the polaroids with no photo, and I added a few embellishments to some of the photos as well. I used puffy stickers, enamel dots, ephemera, stickers, and a few more fussy cut items. There were so many embellishments and sentiments that applied to my daughter!
I love how my layouts turned out, and I hope I’ve inspired you to get crafty. Don’t forget to check out these new paper collections!
Hello friends! Today I’m sharing a layout that I created for Hip Kit Club. I was challenged to create a monochromatic layout with a pop of color using the January 2020 Hip Kit Club Main kit only.
I filmed a process video for my YT channel (junglebarrya):
I used a Hip Kit Club exclusive cutfile that you can find on the Hip Kit Club website. I backed the cutfile with a few blue pattern papers from Pinkfresh Studio. I also used yellow as my pop of color because I wanted the 2020 to pop against the layout.
I used blue cardstock for my background, and this cardstock has a shimmery quality to it that is really cool. I added some white ink splatters before adhering the cutfile with foam squares.
I adhered my photos: one to the upper right, and 2 towards the bottom left. I also fussy cut some speech bubbles from a Pinkfresh Studio pattern paper for my journaling.
Since the cutfile is so big, I didn’t want to add too many embellishments. I’m usually a minimal scrapbooker anyway, and I like a clean graphic look. I added some Pinkfresh Studio embellishments, Pink Paisley glitter enamel dot and heart, and some stars that I punched from pattern paper.
This monochromatic theme was challenging, but I love the end result! You should give it a try! I hope I’ve inspired you to get crafting!
