2 thanks cards, featuring Spellbinders May 2020 Glimmer of the Month

Hello friends!  Today I’m sharing 2 thanks cards that I created with the May 2020 Glimmer Hot Foil of the Month (GOM), called Thanks a Million.

This month’s kit comes with 7 foil plates and 7 dies; 4 of the glimmer plates are sentiments, and I’ve shown them all below. You also get a blush foil roll.

For my first card, I decided to make a pretty watercolor background. I used my Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil system to foil the big THANKS sentiment. Watercolor paper works really good with the hot foil system, and the sentiment came out perfectly in one go. I trimmed the watercolor piece to about 4 x 5 1/4 in, rounded the corners, and adhered it to a white card base with foam tape.

I added a “for all you do” foiled sentiment strip with foam tape right on top of the sentiment, and finished off the card with just a few Nuvo drops.

For my next card, I foiled the large sentiment on black cardstock. To dress up the card a bit, I decided to make some of the floral pieces. There is one floral glimmer plate and one leaf glimmer plate, so I made one of each, and then used the coordinating die to diecut them out. I also diecut some of the other floral pieces. There are a total of 4 floral pieces that you can use separately or layer together to create 2 flowers. There are also 2 greenery pieces.

I trimmed the black foiled piece, and adhered it to a pink card base with foam tape. I added the “a million” sentiment strip. and then added the floral pieces that I made. To finish off the card, I used a few Nuvo drops.

These 2 thank you cards were pretty easy to put together, but I love the impact of the large foiled sentiment. I’m thrilled with how these turned out, and I hope I’ve inspired you to get crafty. Don’t forget to check out the Spellbinders site for all these awesome monthly kits!

2 cards, featuring Spellbinders May 2020 LDOM

Hello crafty friends! I hope you all are staying healthy and safe.

Today I’m sharing a couple cards that I made featuring Spellbinders’ Large Die of the Month kit (LDOM) called Kaleidoscope Card Creator. This kit comes with 11 dies, which allow you to create beautiful 3 layer frame cards. For some versatility, I made a card using just two of the dies for a fun graphic look, and I made another card using most of the dies to create a framed look.

Here is the first card I made using 2 of the square dies:

I used my Spellbinders Platinum 6 die cutting machine to diecut each of the 2 squares from rainbow colors. These squares are so small, I was able to use even the smallest pieces of cardstock scraps from my stash. I knew I wanted to create a graphic pattern, and I wanted to add some interest. I glued the 2 squares on some of the colors for a tone on tone layered look. On a few other colors, I went back and die cut one more of the squares to created an even more dimensional look. Some colors, I left as a single layer. You might be able to tell the different dimensions in my next photo.

For the background, I foiled one of the sentiments from the May 2020 Large Die of the Month using my Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil system on a piece of white cardstock. I trimmed it to 4 x 5 1/4 in so that I could leave a border on my A2 sized card base. Next, I started to glue on my squares in rainbow order. Since my card design is so graphic, I made sure to keep my squares straight and spaced evenly. Once all glued, I adhered the panel to the card base with foam tape. To finish off my card, I used a little bit of Nuvo clear glitter drops and added them to a few of the squares for interest.

I love the way this card turned out! It’s definitely my style: clean and graphic and colorful!

For my next card, I thought it would make a great Mother’s Day card, so I used pink cardstock.

I diecut each the 3 layer corner pieces 4 times, and each of the 3 connecting square pieces 2 times. I made sure to diecut the correct layer piece in the same colored cardstock, so each of my top pieces with be light pink, each of my middle pieces would be pink, and the bottom pieces would be dark pink. I glued all the layered pieces together. Since everything lines up, it was easy to glue. Next I connected the 2 top corner pieces, and the 2 bottom corner pieces. Then I connected them together using the square piece. Again, since everything lines up, it was easy to put together. I glued the frame piece to an A2 sized craft colored card base.

I die cut the center oval piece from the same light pink cardstock, and then I diecut the large Thank you shadow sentiment from pink and dark pink cardstock. (They are the Die D-Lites Bold Type Thank You Etched Dies.) I glued the sentiment pieces together to create a shadowed look. You can see them closer in the next photo:

I adhered the oval piece in the center with thin foam tape, which turned out to be the height of my diecut frame. Next I adhered the large Thank you sentiment. I added the “You are the Best” sentiment (which is from the same May GOM set I linked above). To finish off the card, I added some white paint splatters and Nuvo glitter drops.

This card turned out really cute too. I hope you liked my projects and were inspired to create your own layered graphic cards. Don’t forget to check out the Spellbinders site for the club kits and much more.

Happy Thursday!

You & Me, featuring Pinkfresh Studio

Hello crafty friends!  Today I’m sharing a layout on the Pinkfresh Studio blog that I created with the Pinkfresh Studio My Favorite Story collection.  I really love the black & white details mixed in with all the pastel and florals in this collection, and I wanted to highlight that.

I am scrapping a pic of my husband and I from a few years ago.  I wanted your eye to be drawn to the photo, so I added layers and clusters of embellishments around the photo.

I started off by using the sapphire watercolor to add some color to white cardstock.   I wanted that bold color, so I used to dropper to add big drops.  I also used a small paintbrush to add some splatter.

Next, I started working on the layers behind the photo.  I used some pattern papers, ephemera, and I also diecut my favorite scalloped edge from the Lacey Edgers 1 die set out of white cardstock to layer behind the photos.  I added some machine stitching, and popped some of the layers with foam adhesive.

To add even more details, I added floral ephemera, enamel dots, and a layered stitched heart around my photo.  I also added a banner ephemera, one of the fabric bows, and my title directly onto the photo.

To balance off the heavy upper right corner, I added my journaling and a few pieces of layered ephemera to the lower left of my layout.

I love how this layout turned out, and I hope you do too!

Happy Monday!

iNSD challenge for Pinkfresh Studio

Hey friends! Happy international Scrapbook Day (iNSD) 2020! I have a challenge with Pinkfresh Studio, and my challenge is: monochromatic.

Here is what I created for the challenge:

I decided to use the beautiful pinks in the Pinkfresh Studio My Favorite Story and Noteworthy collections.  Since we have been staying home, I picked up a new hobby: hand embroidery.  When I finished my first piece, of course I took a photo to document it.  I decided I wanted to make a layout with a cutfile, and I remembered there was the Floral Hoop cutfile from PFS, which couldn’t be more perfect!

My challenge is now live, and you can find out all the details on the Pinkfresh Studio website: here. I’d love for you to take part in my challenge! Go check it out to see how you could win a goodie box!

Happy Saturday!
