December Daily 2019, days 21 & 22, featuring Hip Kit Club

Hello friends! Happy 2020!

Today I’m sharing days 21 & 22 of my December Daily 2019 album. I am slowly, but surely making some progress! I used the HKC December Documented 2019 kit, as well as the November & December 2019 Hip Kits.

For day 21, the girls decorated gingerbread houses. I chose the 4 3×4 pocket page for the left, and the 2 4×6 pocket page on the right. I am definitely a photo heavy scrapbooker, so there are tons of photos. I didn’t leave myself enough room to journal, so I ended up handwriting my journaling in the white space of one of my photos.

GINGERBREAD HOUSE HACK: If you buy a gingerbread house kit where the house is NOT preassembled, use a hot glue gun to assemble your houses for a faster and stronger hold, then cover the seams with frosting!

I stamped my number using the HKC exclusive stamp set (from the DD kit) and die cut it with a metal tag die, then added a date stamp just as I’ve been doing on previous pages. I love the continuity of the dates. I used a house snowglobe because I thought it was fit a page about gingerbread houses.

For my day 22, I made a spread about wrapping gifts:

On the right, I have a large 6×8 photo of some of the wrapped presents. On the left side, I had the back side of day 21, with the 2 4×6, to fill. I used the beautiful Crate Paper foiled pattern paper from the HKC December paper kit. I typed my journaling on my typewriter, and adhered it to the pattern paper.

For the bottom 4×6 slot, I used a journaling card from the DD kit that says “santa’s coming.” I decided to stamp and gold heat emboss my number on one of the tags that I used for wrapping presents. (The gift tags are from Target a few years ago.) Like my other tags, I also added the date stamp. I decided to use ribbon that I had left over from gift wrapping as well.

For the large photo, I wanted it to stay out of the page protector, so I made little hole punched ring tabs by trimming down a HKC journaling card, and hole punching.

I really am loving everything in my DD album so far. I hope I’ve given you some inspiration for your pages!

December Daily, days 19 & 20, featuring Hip Kit Club

Hello friends!  Today I’m sharing a couple more pages in my 2019 December Documented album.  I’m still using my Hip Kit Club December Documented kit, and this is my first time using the new December 2019 kits.  I will most likely keep using some pieces of my November 2019 kits, because I want to keep my album cohesive, but I’m loving how all these kits go together so well!  

In my previous assignments, I had mentioned that I am behind, and working out of order, but I am so pleased that I’m making some progress on my DD album!  I am sharing days 19 & 20 today.

I was challenged to use some of my favorite products, and I have to say that I have been loving the number stamp set in the DD kit, the journaling cards, and the build a scene bits ephemera pack (white diecuts).  

For day 19, I am documenting some very special happy mail that I got all the way from Denmark.  (Thank you again Hanne!)

On the left side, I have a full size photo that I cut into a tag.  I made a 19 date tag with the number stamp set, and put a gold ribbon through the tags.

On the left side, I made a double pocket page using a Crate Paper pattern paper from the December Main kit, and some velum.  I filled my pockets with some of the packaging from the chocolate boxes that my friend sent me, as well as a photo strip, and my journaling.  I used a 4×6 journaling card from the December PL kit.  I carefully peeled off the stamps from the package, and adhered it to my journaling card, so it looks like a postcard!

For Day 20, I documented my middle daughter’s holiday party at school.

On the left side, I used the pretty pink plaid pattern paper from Pretty Little Studio (from the Dec 2019 Main kit).  I made a little embellishment banner using some really cute items.  I mad a number date tag, I used one of the snowflakes from the build a scene ephemera pack, I used a few Pinkfresh Studio stickers (from the DD kit), and I fussy cut some pieces from the Crate Paper cut apart pattern paper (from the Dec Main kit).  I really love how this one turned out!  The little gingerbread man is a HKC exclusive from the ephemera pack (Nov kit).

On the other side, I did a 4 3×4 pocket page spread.  I have a 2 photos, and 2 journaling cards. 

I really love how my DD spreads turned out, and I hope you do too.  I hope I’ve inspired you to keep working on, finish, or even start your December Documented albums.

December Daily 2019, day 12, featuring Hip Kit Club

Hey friends! I’m back with another December Daily 2019 post. I am using a combination of the Hip Kit Club 2019 December Documented kit and the November kits.  

As I mentioned in my last DD blog post, I am a bit behind on my DD album this year, and I’m working out of order. Today, I’m sharing my day 12.

I filmed a process video on my YT channel if you’re interested:

On the 12th, I was feeling pretty strongly with Mom Guilt. I had been looking through previous DD albums, and I commented on my daughters’ cute crafty projects. I also noted that I hadn’t really done anything like that with my youngest daughter yet, so I decided to give her some one-on-one time. I already had a holiday necklace kit that I bought a couple weeks ago, so she got to make the necklace, with minor help from me, and we made a paper pieced Christmas tree. It was her first time using scissors, so she was extra excited! Not only was she excited to cut and glue, but I got to keep the end result for my album, lol!

I wanted to stick her craft project right into my album, so you can feel the texture. I needed something to back the project with, and at first, I was considering a pattern paper, but I decided to make my own by stamping with the HKC exclusive stamp set from the November 2019 PL kit.

I also needed a place for my number, so I stamped 12 with the number stamp set from the HKC DD kit on a HKC exclusive journaling card, and heat embossed it with the gold embossing powder that came in the DD festive color kit. I added a HKC exclusive puffy sticker sentiment, and then I diecut it with a tag die.

The ink I used is AE Rose Garden, and the tag I used is the Pinkfresh Studio Fillable tag with pocket die set.

On the left side, I have a full page photo of my daughter proudly sporting her new necklace. I wanted to add just a little something, so I used the HKC exclusive puffy stickers, and put the word MERRY at the top.

Once you flip the number insert, you’ll see my daughter’s tree craft on the left, and more photos and my journaling on the right.

I just love how clean and simple it looks…just my style! I used a HKC exclusive journaling card to write my journaling. I also added a chipboard banner sticker to the 4×6 photo.

I love how my day 12 spread turned out! I also love that I was able to incorporate my love for stamping into my DD album.

I hope I’ve inspired you to work on your DD album as well. If you’re right on track, that’s awesome, but don’t worry if you’re behind…I’m right there with you, ha!

I can’t believe Christmas is in just 5 days! I’m not ready, haha!

December Daily 2019, days 1 & 7

Hi friends!  Today I’m sharing a couple spreads from my December Daily album.  I am using a combination of the Hip Kit Club 2019 December Documented kit and the November kits.  

I have to admit that it’s been slow going with my DD album so far this year.  I have been incredibly indecisive, and have been making rookie mistakes (like punching holes on the wrong side of the paper), BUT I have my Day 1 and Day 7 to share with you today, and I have to say that I love the way they turned out!

I was challenged to use vellum or acetate on my layout.  When I saw the snowflake acetate in the DD kit, I knew it was perfect for my Day 1 spread.  We went to go see Frozen II on December 1st.  I used the HKC exclusive pink pattern paper (from the November Main kit), and trimmed it down to about 4 1/2 x 8 in as a base for my pocket page.  I trimmed down the snowflake acetate to about 5 x 4 1/2 in, scored 1/4 in from each side and the bottom, then folded and adhered them behind the pink pattern paper.  

This is actually the 2nd pocket page that I made.  The first one had most of the pretty snowflakes, but I punched the holes on the left side out of habit, instead of the right side.  I still had enough acetate to make it again though, with one sparkly snowflake.  

Since it’s clear acetate, it’s hard to tell that there’s a pocket in the photographs, but if you look closely, the acetate makes the pink pattern paper look darker.  (My acetate goes up to right under the first set of holes.)  I filled it with photos from a photobooth they had at the theatre, a copy of our digital tickets, a photo of the movie poster, and a journaling card.  I typed up my journaling on a 4 x 6 card from the November Pocket Life kit, trimmed it down a little, then added a ribbon tab.  (The ribbon is included in the DD kit.)

For the other side of my Day 1 spread, I documented my husband and girls putting up the Christmas lights on the house.

If you watched my previous video on my YT channel, I had made a different spread for day 1, but I mentioned that it would probably change since I pre-filmed.  I made the number 1 tag on that video, so I’m reusing it on this page.  I used the HKC exclusive stamp set from the DD kit, and gold embossing powder from the DD Festive Color kit to make my tag.  I put the tag on a different PL card.  This snowflake card was a 3 x 8 card that I cut it half.  I thought it tied in both sides of the spread perfectly with the snowflakes and colors.

For my Day 7, I documented a crafty movie night with my 2 younger girls:

On the left side, I hand wrote my journaling on a PL card.  I love the cards with lines on them… I can never keep my handwriting straight, haha!  I added the sticker from Pinkfresh Studio, and added a little machine stitching.  I also printed out another movie poster from the movie we watched: Abominable.  It was really cute!

On the right side, I kept it pretty simple with two 4 x 6 photos.  I put the 3 photos together in photoshop for the top image, but you could just trim your photos and glue them to a piece of cardstock or 4 x 6 card.  To the top of this photo, I added a little bit of washi tape, with a gold scalloped pattern on it (it was from a Hip Kit earlier this year), and a Pinkfresh Studio sticker.

I created another number tag, just like I made for day 1, for day 7.

I hope you like the way my DD spreads turned out.  I love how clean and graphic my pages turned out.  I mentioned at the beginning of my post that I was having a hard time starting my DD album.  I think I was trying to push myself to use all.the.things.  I’ve seen lots of beautiful spreads with lots of product on them, but it’s just not my style.  Once I let myself be minimalistic with embellishments, I loved the end result.  I know it’s so easy to get caught up in the comparison game, but you have to stay true to your own style.

December Daily 2019 cover page & Day 1, featuring Hip Kit Club

Hi friends! I’m so excited to be sharing a December Daily post! I am using the Hip Kit Club December Documented kits, as well as the November 2019 kits. I am sharing my Cover page, and my Day 1.

For my cover page, I started with the cutfile. I used my silhouette machine to cut Merry Christmas 3 times from black cardstock. The cut file is a Hip Kit Club exclusive, and can be found on their website. I glued the 3 right on top of each other, creating my own chipboard piece.

I trimmed down a piece of white cardstock to 6×8, then added wonky circles with my sewing machine. Next, I stamped the 2019, using the HKC exclusive stamp set included in the DD kit. I glued on the Merry Christmas cutfile, then added a few stars.

For my Day 1, I decided to write the story about how I was so excited to shop for and decorate our new hutch. I love collecting these tiny houses, and I love the little scene that I created.

Since I had to pre-film my video before December started, I chose this as my Day 1, but this story might get moved to Day 2. We took the girls to watch Frozen II on Sunday Dec 1, so that will be the story of Day 1.

So I chose the page protector with one 4×6 spots and 2 3×4 spots since I already had the 4×6 photo printed. I chose the “shine bright” journaling card from the DD kit, and printed my journaling on it. For the other journaling card, I chose the periwinkle card with tiny white stars. I made the little 1 ta, by heat embossing with gold embossing powder, and using the 1 stamp from the HKC exclusive stamp set. I also used the red Lindy’s powder to make that floral star red.

For the other side, I trimmed down the light blue cardstock from the CS kit to 6×8, and then used on of the HKC exclusive stencils from the DD kit and texture paste, leaving me with textured white stars. I really loved the houses in the ephemera pack. You can leave them white as is, or you can add mixed media to them (like I did to the floral star). I machine stitched through the big house, and popped the other 2 up with foam squares.

I am so excited with how my pages turned out! This is my 10th album, and I am still loving this project. I hope you like my pages as well. If you’re interested in my other DD pages, just click on the December Daily category or tag, or search it on my blog.

7 cards & a Pocket Page, featuring Spellbinders’ Merry Everything Christmas kit

Hey friends!  Today, I’m sharing my projects that I created using the Merry Everything Christmas kit from Spellbinders.

I did a small unboxing, and filmed a process video for these cards on my YT channel.

 

I made a Pocket Page spread that would be perfect for December Daily / December Documented.  There is a 3×4 card that is so cute, and it says “our elf” with a spot to the photo of you elf.  I just had to use it along with the photo of my girls and Santa from last year.  I used a few more 3×4 cards, a Santa die cut, a few phrase stickers, and a Letters to Santa embellishment.

For my first card, I decided to use the dies in the kit, along with my Spellbinders Platinum 6 die cutting machine, and create a little red bug car, with a bunch of presents piled on top.

I used one of the pattern papers in the 6×6 paper pad for the background.  The sentiment is my favorite one from the stamp set.  I also added a piece of the red and white twine to finish off my card.

For my next card, I created a frame for the cute little cat diecuts.

I trimmed down a piece of red cardstock to 4 x 5 1/4 inches.  Next, I used a ruler and a pencil to mark out the placement of the squares.  I made sure to leave enough space in the middle for my sentiment.  I used a square die from the Nestabilities Classic Square dies to die cut the frame.  I used another one of the stamps from the stamp set, and heat embossed the sentiment with gold embossing powder.  I popped up the frame with foam tape, and adhered it to a piece of pattern paper from the 6×6 paper pad.  Next, I added the cats on with foam squares.

On my next card, I used a Santa diecut for my main embellishment.

For the background, I trimmed a piece of the blue cardstock to 4 x 5 1/4 in.  I added a little bit of ink blending around the outer edges to add some interest.  Then I sprinkled on some white ink to create falling snow.  For my hilltop, I used the white glitter cardstock.  I used a glittered chipboard sticker HoHoHo sentiment. and an epoxy star to finish off my layout.

For my next card, I used diecuts, cardstock, the leftover piece of woodgrain pattern paper from my first card, and a clear sticker sentiment.  I did use lots of foam squares on this one to create dimension.

For the next few cards, I stuck to a black. white, and red color scheme.

I used a piece of partner paper for the background.  I added a strip of the gold cardstock to ground the elements.  I used a large circle diecut with an image of presents.  I also added a ’tis the season” diecut sentiment.  Then I filled the card with various red embellishments, like the red gems, glitter star, and peppermints.

For this next card, I used 2 of the premed tags as the focal point.  I used the red and white twine  on the tags.

I used red cardstock for the background, and I used a white gel pen to draw a sketchy frame around it.  I also added a floral diecut, red gens, and a glittered cardstock sentiment.

For my last card, I made a simple candy cane card.

I used the candy cane pattern paper from the 6×6 pad for my background.  I die cut a circle from the white glitter cardstock  using my Spellbinders Nestabilities Circle dies.  I used another one of the ’tis the season diecut sentiments as well as a candy cane diecut, and popped them up with the foam squares.

I really hope you like my projects, and are inspired to get crafty.  These kits allow you to get as detailed or as simple as you like.  Some of the cards took longer, like the car I created with the car dies, but others just took a few minutes, like the candy cane card.

Technique Tuesday June Release Blog Hop: 6 x 8 pocket spread

Today, I’m sharing a 6×8 pocket spread, along with a few 3×4 cards I made using the Laugh and Smile stamp set along with the Layered Laugh die set.

Here is what I created:

I made the 3 x 4 cards using the outline version of the “SMILE” and “LAUGH” stamps.  I used my Misti stamping tool to help me line everything up, and to double stamp if needed.

I used Distress oxide colors in Abandoned Coral, Picked Raspberry, Squeezed Lemonade, Twisted Citron, Peacock Feathers, and Seedless Preserves.  On the 3 x 4 card that I put in my pocket page, I left room between the red and yellow color to glue on a laugh die cut.  I die cut the laugh out of glitter cardstock, and 2x from white cardstock.  I glued them one on top of each other to create depth and dimension.

For the other card, I used the Remember When stamp set, along with the Oval and Rectangle Stitched Label dies.  I stamped the label with the DO Abandoned Coral ink for my journaling, then fussy cut it out.  I also stamped the sold label with DO Picked Raspberry.  Once dry, I stamped the “Good Times together” sentiment with Versafine ink, then die cut it using the rectangle stitched die.  I adhered the labels to an old Dear Lizzy pattern paper that I trimmed down to 3 x 4 inches.  I also added a glitter heart that I die cut from the square die with a heart inside.  Like the “laugh,” I die cut it once from glitter cardstock, and 2x from white cardstock and glued them together.

I just added a couple small embellishments to the photo.  I stamped the “This Photo Makes Me” sentiment from the Laugh & Smile stamp set with the DO Picked Raspberry ink, fussy cut it out, and adhered it with foam squares.  I used the outer square of the heart that I die cut, and adhere it to the photo as well.  Ideally, I would have liked my 4×6 photo on top with the 2 3 x 4 cards on bottom so that the sentiment would read “This photo makes me SMILE,” but I don’t have a pocket page layout like that.  This works perfectly fine though.
