Some bunny loves you shaker card featuring Mint Owl Studio

Hey guys!  I’m here with a shaker card today featuring the Some Bunny stamp set from Mint Owl studio.  You will find my card on the Mint Owl Studio blog as well!

First, I stamped the hugging bunnies and tiny bow from the MOS Some Bunny stamp set with Memento tuxedo black ink on some cardstock.  I colored my images with copic markers.  I used both warm and cool gray makers, with a little hint of pink.  Then, I fussy cut them out.  I glued the bow to the Mama bunny, and added glossy accents on top.  I set aside to dry.

Meanwhile, I inked up my card base (just in the middle) with some Tim Holtz scattered straw distress ink, creating a moon.  On a separate piece of watercolor paper, I die cut a rectangle using Simon Say’s Stamps stitched rectangle die.  I also partially die cut a circle using a Mama Elephant die.  (My first try at partial die cutting!)  Then I hand cut 2 pieces of sticky notes into a hill to act as a template to cut the rest of the partial die cut circle, and then as a mask for my background.  With my mask in place, I stamped a starry sky using stars from the MOS I Moose You stamp set, Versamark ink, and heat embossed using Ranger’s silver embossing powder.  On top, I used my Tim Holtz distress inks in blueprint sketch and chipped sapphire to ink blend a night sky.  I gave the sky a quick spritz with my water bottle, and then pat with a paper towel to get the ink to react with the water leaving bleached spots.  I took the other side of the sticky notes that I had cut to then mask off the sky (once dry) to ink blend my green hill, and heat emboss a sentiment.  I used the “some bunny loves you” sentiment and heat set using the same ink and silver embossing powder.  Then, I used Tim Holtz distress inks in lucky clover and mowed lawn right on top.

I glued on a piece of acetate to the back of my sky/hill panel over the partially die cut circle.  I added a double layer of foam tape, making sure there was no gaps around the circle.  For my sequin mix, I used MOS’s snowflake sequin mix and some Martha Stewart tiny stars.  I placed those sequins over the yellow ink blended area on the card base, keeping the sequins piled up in the middle.  I carefully placed my sky/hill panel on top, keeping an eye on both the spacing and the sequins.  To finish my shaker card, I added the bunnies on top with glue dots.

Caring Hearts Card Drive

Hey guys!  I’m sharing some of the cards that I made for the caring hearts card drive 2015.  This card drive collects handmade holiday cards to send along to those living in nursing homes.  You can read about it on Jennifer McGuire’s blog or on Vera Yate’s blog.  I recently sent 30 cards, and I am going to be sharing some on my blog here today.  (I will post links to supplies I used at the bottom of this post)

These 6 cards feature Lawn Fawn’s recent release.  I used Toboggan together and Ready, Set, Snow.  I did a lot of copic coloring, distress ink skies, and snow using the Simon Says Stamp falling snow stencil.

For the next 6 cards, I used Wplus9 Holiday Boughs stamp set, Hero Arts Family and Friends stamp set, and Essentials by Ellen Mondo Poinsettia by Julie Ebersole stamp set.  I did more copic coloring and lots of gold embossing.

For the next 6 cards, I used Mama Elephant Merry Script creative cuts, Mama Elephant Charmed stamp set, Simon Says stamp & Clearly Besotted collaboration Holiday Banners stamp set, and Tim Holtz Holiday Knit layering stencil.

The last 4 cards I have feature Lawn Fawn Winter Penguin stamp, Lawn Fawn Winter Sparrows stamp set, Lawn Fawn Love you a Latte stamp set, and My Favorite Things Fall Florals stamp set.  (I hand painted that red & black plaid background after seeing Kristina Werner’s card here.)

STAMPtember: Holiday Banners card

Hey everyone!

I’ve got my very first holiday card to share with you!  You can also see my card on the Simon Says Stamp blog.

I was sent the Simon Says Stamp & Clearly Besotted collaboration stamp set called Holiday Banners, and I just had to get in the craft room to make a holiday card!  Also, SSS now has pre-cut, pre-scored 120 lb A2 sized card bases, and I absolutely love the convenience of these!

Here’s my shaker card:

From the stamp set, I used the snowflake stamp, the joyeux NOEL banner, and the circle snowflake stamp.

Here is a quick rundown of how I created this card.

  1. For the background, I repeatedly stamped the snowflake image from the set using Versamark ink on white card stock.  I added clear embossing powder, then heat set the snowflakes.
  2. Using the Tim Holtz ink blending tool, I blended distress inks in colors Salty Ocean, Tumbled Glass, and Shaded Lilac right on top of the snowflakes.  Since I heat embossed, the snowflakes resisted the ink.
  3. I took my Versamark ink pad and smooshed it straight onto my background piece.  Then, I added clear/glitter embossing powder on top, and heat set the entire piece.
  4. On another piece of card stock, I stamped the “joyeux NOEL” banner and the circle snowflake using Versamark ink.  I added Ranger Liquid Platinum embossing powder and heat set.
  5. Once cooled, I hand cut the banner.
  6. On another piece of white card stock, I die cut a frame using Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle dies.
  7. I stamped the “bring on the magic” sentiment from Kelly Purkey’s Simply Magic stamp set (which is a Disney themed stamp set) with black ink.
  8. I assembled the shaker portion, filling it with Pretty Pink Posh sparkling clear sequins and Martha Stewart Iridescent Hearts Glitter, using acetate and a double layer of foam tape.
  9. I attached the shaker to a Simon Says Stamp pre-cut card base.
  10. Then, I added the banner on top with glue dots.
  11. To finish off my card, and to add even more sparkle, I added more sequins and some tiny gems to my card.

That’s it!  Hope you like my card!  Even though here in Texas, we are still experiencing temperatures in the high 90s, I hope you’re enjoying cooler temperatures where ever you are.  Less than 100 days till Christmas!  What?!

Happy Tuesday!
