4.30am

There has been a house alarm going off since 2.30 yesterday afternoon, they don’t alert people to problems they only annoy people when they continue all night long. Oh joy now a car alarm has joined in!

I just thought I would share that with you.

We had a nice weekend Saturday we went to Wales to visit mother and father-in-law with the intentions of doing some gardening for them, but the weather put a stop to that. It’s a two hour drive from here to there, but it’s a pleasant drive as most of it is through countryside, I was quite surprised to see baby lambs in the fields already.

Sunday was a lazy day again due to the weather. One down point over the weekend was going out Sunday morning to find 4 dead frogs on the yard, ripped to bits the poor little things were.

I finished reading Last Chance to see by Douglas Adams and Mark Carwardine. Douglas travels around the world with Mark and crew to see if they can find some of the worlds most endangered animals, a very thought provoking book, written in the true Douglas Adams way. 10/10

nice new floor

Nice new path

I have just wrote a post, pressed save and lost the lot, so in short

I have finished the floor in the greenhouse

Relayed the path to the compost heap

Watched Verdi’s Othello at the A and E Harris on the telly, number 1 went to see it live now I want to see it too, watched the directors cut of the opera which was very good.

This morning the sky turned pink, then very slowly orange, bathing everything in a strange but pretty glow, like something was on fire. All the birds fell silent, whether in fright or in awe I don’t know. All I know was it was beautiful.

A funny email

A SPANISH Teacher was explaining to her class that in Spanish, unlike English, nouns are designated as either masculine or feminine.

‘House’ for instance, is feminine: ‘la casa.’
‘Pencil,’ however, is masculine: ‘el lapiz.’

A student asked, ‘What gender is ‘computer’?’

Instead of giving the answer, the teacher split the class into two
groups, male and female, and asked them to decide for themselves whether computer’ should be a masculine or a feminine noun. Each group was asked to give four reasons for its recommendation.

The men’s group decided that ‘computer’ should definitely be of the feminine gender (‘la computadora’), because:

1. No one but their creator understands their internal logic;

2. The native language they use to communicate with other computers is incomprehensible to everyone else;

3. Even the smallest mistakes are stored in long term memory for possible later retrieval; and

4. As soon as you make a commitment to one, you find yourself
spending half your paycheck on accessories for it.

(THIS GETS BETTER!)

The women’s group, however, concluded that computers should be Masculine (‘elcomputador’), because:

1. In order to do anything with them, you have to turn them on;

2. They have a lot of data but still can’t think for themselves;

3. They are supposed to help you solve problems, but half the time they ARE the problem; and

4. As soon as you commit to one, you realize that if you had waited a little longer, you could have gotten a better model.

The women won.

I think it’s funny the way they all just wander in and make themselves at home, have a feed and/or a nap, then all go home. All it seems without a thought as to whether or not we would hurt them.

Just call me the cat lady.

Arctic winter, floods, volcanic eruptions, Tsunami and now earth quake in NZ, Is Mother Nature taking revenge for all that we have done to her, or is the end of the world as we know it on its way. Or is it just the sun revving up for it’s next big storm in 2013?

Criminality can be found in a childs brain and the cure Omega oils, if only it could be that easy.

Can’t say as I am that impressed with this one either putting the clocks forward two hours In summer time so as to gain more light of an evening, what about people who live in the north their mornings will stay dark until after 9 ‘o’ clock, or possibly later in the winter, what about early risers like me who want the morning light so that we can start our working day, and longer lighter nights just means more time for the pain in the arse kids and their footballs to be out in the street.

Evening news is where they begin with ‘Good evening,’ and then proceed to tell you why it isn’t.

I have my ‘I haven’t got enough to do, I’ll make more work’ head on. I have managed to break the handle on the TV cupboard, all I did was open the door and it came off in my hand, and I have broken that silly bit of plastic that hangs below the draws on the kitchen units, and all I did then was bang my hand on it!

I am going now before I blow up the computer.

This is the Cingino dam in Italy but look closer………

They are Euopean Ibex and they like to eat the moss, lichen and lick the salt off the dam wall.

I have arms like Popeye! I think it may have something to do with what I have been doing over the past few days. We had a ton of sand delivered on Tuesday and I shovelled and barrowed ¾ of it around the back and put it in the green house. Wednesday I flatten and levelled it, and put down the few slabs I found around the back of the shed. Thursday I took up all the piping and electrical wire which runs from the house to the shed. We have been having a problem with it for a while now in as much as when we have a lot of rain it blows all the house electric. I found a couple of problems, one being that two of the connecting pieces of pipe work had come apart and filled with water rusting the connecters, and one length of pipe work was crushed beneath a wall the neighbours built a couple of years ago. So I intend to rerun the piping and wire, replacing the broken and rusty connections and also set the pipe work off the ground.

Benifits cut Mmmm I am in two minds about this one. On one hand, while I agree it is wrong that some people are better off living on benefits than if they were working, and it is creating a generation of people who believe it is their right to be given money for doing nothing, and people should be encouraged to go to work. On the other hand to do all this there has to be the jobs out there to go into, and a variety of jobs. While some people thrive on stress filled jobs others prefer a job that can be ‘left at work’ at the end of the day. Some people can’t work full time or weekends, and there’s no point what so ever in telling someone in part time work or on minimum wage to travel miles to get a job, with the price of fuel and train/bus fares they would be out of pocket very quickly.

Popped to the builders yard yesterday to order a few more slabs, (to finish off the floor) to find them closed, I didn’t think anywhere closed anymore, haha. So we headed to B&Q to get more piping to finish off the electric, (which from a glance out of the window is not going to happen today).

Yesterday we heard from sis-in-law, who heard via face book that an old friend of ours fell through a garage roof on Thursday and broke both legs and his back. We have sent texts to see if we can find out where he is so we can try to visit or at least let him know we are thinking about him. I can’t believe how his luck has changed, he was always a very lucky person, what ever he touched turn to gold. But just of late it seems life is out to get him.

I watched The Seventh Seal on DVD yesterday another good film if you get the chance.

Larks rise has finished, but thats OK because Coach trip is back on
