I am so doing the happy dance! I made the top 10!

DESCRIPTION
Thinking outside of the box … that’s what Marko Mitanovski does. My first choice for this look was the Victorian styled collar by Zibska showing the influence Mitanovski found in Renaissance Costumes. The pale skin by Glam Affair shows his interest in Lady MacBeth from Akira Kurosawa’s movie “Throne of Blood”. If you look at the lines of my outfit., it uses unconventional items to show a bit of haute-couture merged into theater and sculpture. He would choose the most significant elements and then exaggerate them as I did in the shoulders and upper arms by DRD Armor as well as the poofy skirt. These pieces become body sculpture formed into the intricate detailed construction and precise geometry that Mitanovski favored. The base of the fashion, a gown by SoliDea Folies, echoes the eco-leather he used in his costumes. The hair as art, made by Zibska, adds the final touch to this elegant, totally out of the box idea.

I got stuck doing this competition trying to find an outfit that would convey an emotion. A friend helped me by asking me, “What are you feeling right now?” As soon as I changed, how, I was working on this, from finding the outfit first, to … Feeling the emotion, it all came together.

DESCRIPTION
Depression is void of color. Hide behind the mask, a hat, your clothes, so no one knows. My life is very hard and I sometimes wear a mask to keep hidden what is in my heart.. The days that depression overwhelms me, my darker side is shown but on other days I remember that you must reach for the good, the special, that is sometimes hidden deep inside, and I am able to show the light that is still in me. My gown shows the darkness I feel inside, but the mask shows that if you look, there is still a part of me that shines.

Researching the designs of Furne One, the designer of the brand Amato Haute Couture, I was mesmerized by his extravagant and artistic designs. Using the  golden colors of the sand surrounding his home in Dubai, a color  he used almost exclusively in his Mega Pride Ball in 2012, my gown shimmers and sparkles from the intricate bead work and the carefully placed Swarovski crystals. The beauty of my gown is an homage to his passion when he says, “Every ensemble is a tribute to the silent strength of women.” My gown flows with an ethereal glow and is enhanced by the powdered hair and pale face often used in many of his runway shows. The luxurious fabrics with the embellishments have an understated sex appeal and a bit of whimsy showing the influence of Chanel who said, “A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous.” Bringing in the strength of Mother Earth are the antlers and birds.

I always wonder, when I enter a contest, do I try to think what will the judges think, or do I, keeping in mind the theme, go with something I really love. I so loved this look and I did, by the skin of my teeth, get into the final 30 for the Top Model contest. Kaciee is new and just starting to make friends. (Really, I spend so much time working on outfits, sometimes I don’t take the time I should to talk.) This contest has a voting part and I wonder what do I do? Many of the models have been great models for some time and have hundreds of friends to vote for them. But, I will do my best with the next challenge and hope I will catch the eye of the judges. You have no chance of ever winning if you just give up and don’t try.
