Don’t cage yourself in.

Fashion is ever changing. Designers and artists are working together. Their collaboration has made a blurring of art and fashion. Fine art and fashion design blend the affect of trends and the social environment. As the world and society moves into new and unexpected ways, we will hope that the mix of these artists and the fashion world will open both to both becoming more.

The hope is that each of us as we watch the fashion and the art as they change and grow in the world, we will still want to be ourselves. Who are we? Today we are anything we want to be. Take a chance. Put together pieces of themes from here and there and blend them into something that is you and only you. Some will not understand. But the point is the breaking out of your cage and free yourself from the limits that the world and yourself had kept you from being free.

Remember when the Chanel show in Paris was staged like an art gallery. That is a peek into the future where art is present in fashion, architecture. The small boutiques that show to any and all how easy it is to step into yourself. Designers show us the newest trends. Some are beautiful and you are awe struck. And some are so silly you can only laugh. But they all have their place. All of them are meant to be the vessel to open your eyes into endless possibilities. I have taken an idea from here and there. Christian Dior used dramatic black eye make up in his 2016 resort show .Alexander McQueen Spring 2016 Ready-to-Wear Fashion Show Alexander McQueen Lace and Feathers by Sarah Burton 2016 Summer. They inspired me to step out of my cage, some say box and be free.

We are meant to step out and be ourselves. And if you must turn your head and smile when some don’t get it. If you do, that’s all any of us can hope for. Step out of your cage!

Who am I?

I am a dreamer. When life is hard, and it is, I escape into books, Sl, even TV. I am everyone. Some days when I think I can not go on, I am the only caretaker of my husband who has dementia, I fall off the mountain, swept away with tears. Why did this path become mine? I have had a good life, we were happy, and now this. I have always wondered if life to be fair, and of course it is not, tried to even it all out? If everything was sunshine and roses, for a time, did you then have to fall down into the pit of tears? I don’t know the answer. Remember that one kind word can give someone the will to go on. I wish people could do that. So today and yesterday and tomorrow, I dream.

THE STORY:
I am Iris Apfel, or would like to be. According to Apfel, great personal style is about knowing yourself, staying curious, and maintaining a sense of humor. Who could ask for more?

I want to be like her! Full of wit, doing her own thing, and fashionable even when you might think she was not. Way to go Iris!

Iris loved color and feathers, big clunky jewelry. And her trade mark big glasses and for a minute in my picture I can be her.

My Story

THE GODDES OF THE PHOENIX

Many thought that the Phoenix was only a mythical bird that lived many years. She represented our capacity for vision and for collecting sensory information about our environment. They did not even know the truth about the bird or about the Goddess of the Phoenix. This is her story

The Goddess had slept in the secret chamber for over one thousand years. She was charged with watching over the eggs. One day, the heartbeat of time came in as golden rays, lighting her chamber, and one of the eggs stirred. The ancient prophecy would begin again. She flew out of the chamber with the hatchling held gently in her hand. The beautiful plumage of the older Phoenix caught her eyes and she went to her side. Her golden gown shimmered in the sun and she held out her hand. For one last moment, the two beautiful birds locked eyes. It was time. The older Phoenix burst into flames until only the ashes sat in her hand. As the bird of wonder dies, the maiden phoenix, her heir, would live another thousand years and the Goddess of the Phoenix would stay by her side until her day came and the cycle of death and life was played out again and again and again.

It was hard to pick which one I liked the best. I liked both of them. So you get to see both and you can decide.

****** STYLE BRIEFING ******

You are bored of the glitz and glamour and wanted some adventure in your life. After a visit to the Conga, you had an idea to throw the party of a lifetime.

“Style an exotic formal look for a conga in the Congo”
Your aim is to create a high fashion and impressive outfit, with elegance and wow factor.

The Story

Kaciee returned from her trip to the Congo with visions of native ensembles flashing through her mind. She would have a gala with a Congo theme. She remembered the colors and the ambiance of the Congo and she decided she would create her outfit. She began with the figure hugging, colorful corset and full skirt from Champagne. Her more formal skirt was a flash of color and was from LWL. Resting gently on her shoulder,in faux fur, was a Leopard paw coupled with a bra from Serafin. She gazed at herself in the mirror and decided, if she really wanted to stand out, she needed to add the headpiece from Champagne. Kaciee added a bracelet to each wrist, one by DRD and one by Chop Zuey. With a final glance in her mirror, she was ready. With a rustle of silks and satins she went to stand at the top of the stairs. She stood there until all eyes were on her and then she slowly descended into the cacophony of color and sound, to be “The Belle of the Ball.”
