Different backgrounds. Different experiences. Different perspectives. One shared commitment: ending neglected tropical diseases. Cohort 1 of the #YouthNTDsFellowship brought together young professionals who may have started the journey as individuals, but found themselves becoming part of something bigger — a growing community of young people learning from one another and working towards a common goal. The real impact wasn't just in the sessions attended or the knowledge gained. It was in the conversations between sessions, the ideas exchanged, the connections made, and the realization that no one has to work towards #NTDsElimination alone. Applications are now open for the #YouthNTDsFellowship Cohort 2 📝 Are you a young person aged 18–35 ready to deepen your knowledge, strengthen your leadership, and contribute to the fight against neglected tropical diseases (NTDs)? This cross-border fellowship will bring together 30 emerging young leaders from Tanzania and Kenya to learn, connect, and turn knowledge into action for #NTDElimination. Through the fellowship, participants will: ✅Strengthen their knowledge and applied skills in NTDs and related areas. ✅Develop leadership and systems-thinking capabilities. ✅Connect with experienced mentors and fellow young leaders across borders. ✅Explore practical solutions for integrating NTDs into broader health and development efforts. As part of #YouthNTDsFellowship Cohort 2, we are inviting professionals and practitioners to mentor emerging young leaders through meaningful knowledge exchange, guidance, and professional development. We welcome mentors with backgrounds in NTDS, PublicHealth, OneHealth, research, policy, advocacy, community engagement, innovation, and related fields. For Cohort 1, the fellowship created a space where young professionals could ask questions, exchange ideas, challenge assumptions, and engage with the realities of neglected tropical diseases from perspectives beyond their own. That is the kind of shift that defines the #YouthNTDsFellowship. Because sometimes, what young people need is not another reminder that they can make a difference — but a space where they can actually begin. A fellowship may have a beginning and an end, but the lessons, connections, and conversations can stay with you long after. For Cohort 1 of the #YouthNTDsFellowship, the experience brought together young professionals from different backgrounds with one shared interest: being part of a movement working towards a future free from neglected tropical diseases. From conversations that challenged perspectives to connections that opened new possibilities, each fellow carried something different from the experience — and together, they became part of a growing community of young people committed to #NTDsElimination. What changes when young people are given the opportunity to learn, connect, and lead? For young professionals who took part in Cohort 1, an initial initiative of the One Health Society-Tanzania, the #YouthNTDsFellowship was more than a learning experience. It was a space to build knowledge, grow in confidence, connect with peers, and discover new ways to contribute to #NTDsElimination. The #YouthNTDsFellowship is preparing to open its next chapter with Cohort 2, creating a new opportunity for young people to deepen their knowledge, strengthen their leadership, and contribute meaningfully to #NTDsElimination. The first cohort, implemented by One Health Society-Tanzania in Tanzania, demonstrated the impact of investing in young people and creating meaningful pathways for them to learn, lead, and engage in the NTDs response. Building on this foundation, the fellowship is now expanding through collaboration with #GANE, strengthening cross-border youth leadership and creating opportunities for young leaders across Tanzania and Kenya to connect, learn, lead, and contribute to the goal of ending NTDs. 📅 Applications open: 15 September 2026. World #NTD Day 2027 #Photo #Competition   From #art to #photography: After a successful launch of an NTD Art Competition last year, we are thrilled to announce this year’s NTD Photo Competition!   #NTDs affect over 1 billion people worldwide and they can be found in every region of the world.   From #Africa to the #Americas, from #Europe to the Eastern #Mediterranean, from Southeast #Asia to the Western #Pacific: Under the motto NTDs Through the Lens: Stories of Risk, Resilience and Response we want to see NTDs through your eyes and understand what they mean to you and how they affect you.   No matter if you are a person affected by NTDs, if you are living in an endemic region for specific NTDs or whether you see them through the microscope in your lab: Everyone is welcome to join! This competition is meant to show how we are all #connected by the topic of NTDs.   Send us your photograph by October 25. An interdisciplinary jury will choose one winner photo per each of the 6 #WHO regions.
